Decorating the tree (Asha)

Post by Coran Velancie on Sun 30 Oct 2016, 12:30

His first attempt at finding KnOT in the Black woods where he supposedly lived had failed, Coran coming across another being that took his attention and time away from the task at hand. He had returned to Saint's City empty handed and frustrated that he had achieved nothing, the questions and nightmares still tormenting him.
So much was his discomfort that not even a week later he found himself making the long journey once again in hopes of finally finding answers. Even if the answers were not what he wanted to hear at least he would stop feeling the need to find them.

He had been day dreaming, his hands deep within his pockets as he walked through the night, he hadn't noticed the moment he had entered the woods until stumbling upon a low fallen log sending him into a undignified sprawl forward to which he barely caught himself from managing at the last second to stay upon his feet.
Chuckling underneath his breath he shook his head, his occasional clumsiness always amused the hell out of him. He was a soldier, he could move unseen through crowds of enemies yet at times something as harmless as his own foot could pitch him onto the ground.

“Idiot” he snorted at himself, his laugher slowly fading as now he paid attention, suddenly he began to change. His eyes becoming keener, his stance tighter as though ready to move, his head slightly tilted as he listened.
Silence.... everything was too silent, not a creature stirred within the darkness. Where the trees should have been full of nocturnal life there was nothing. The creatures were hiding, something was either lurking near by or had been through recently.
His steps became slower, more thought out as he moved forward, his eyes scanning every inch of the woodlands around him as he moved on through the wilderness.

“Holy fuck..” he had seen many things in his life, especially when in the army, he had seen people tortured and beaten, their innards no longer contained within the confines of their own bodies. He expected those sort of things on the battle field, he expected them in times of full on war. He did not expect to see them within supposedly protected woodlands.
A woman hung beaten and bleeding from a tree not more then twenty feet to his right, mangled and twisted she had been left to waste and die alone. He could not think of a worse kind of death if he tried and before he thought better of it he moved, rushing towards her hoping that he had not stumbled across the young woman to late.

Kicking out his foot impacted upon the trunk of the tree pushing him upwards so he could jump and grab a branch above the woman. Pulling himself up he somersaulted onto the top of the branch, straddling it to slide himself along to where the woman had been hung. Grabbing the restraints that held her in place he tore them away one by one his left arm twisting downwards to snake underneath her armpits so when she was finally free she would not fall.

Freeing her he quickly pulled her towards him and jumped, shielding her against him to protect her from any impact. Upon the ground he lowered her gently so he could get a look at how badly injured she was.
“Shit what the hell happened to you?” his hand found her face resting against her cheek to shake her very gently. “Hey, hey can you hear me? Wake up, look at me”

Re: Decorating the tree (Asha)

Post by Asha Dimitru on Mon 31 Oct 2016, 06:07

Days had passed as her body had hung from the branches of a large old oak tree, surrounded by the wild and unruly Black woods. On any average day the forest could be heard aloud, the scuttle of animals across the forest floor and the clicking and singing of beetles here and there. Birds were normally calling back and forth, mothers feeding their young in nests hidden in the canopies of the trees. But lately there was not a sound, nothing but the careless blowing of the wind through the foliage of the forest. Animals had scattered and hid, the insects afraid to lift more than a suppressed chirp in the presence of what had been and subsequently left leaving a dim and horrific sight behind.

Asha was simply walking back towards the manor with her hopes having been dashed of finding an answer to her problems. She had no knowledge he had been watching her, stalking her movements since she had rapped her knuckles on the door of the witches coven. No notice of how quickly the animals of the forest had grown silent in suspense of what was to come. She hadn’t felt the imprint of his steely cold stare on her back nor heard the rush of wing upon the air as he had finally decided to strike; glided down from the shadows of the forest canopy above her. In sudden contrast to the silence Asha had been ambushed by the sudden and forceful grip of talons, the sharp claws gripping tightly in grasp as the force Vaughan had brought with him mid-flight had cleanly swept Asha off of her feet and careening into the thick trunk of the oak tree before them as she had screamed out a wounded and frightened howl in pain and shock. Birds took flight and screeched in succession as they escaped the fray and fury bush animals scuttled into their dens and hiding holes to seek shelter from the predator at play.

Asha had long known her brother had turned, she had made sure to keep to places either well populated with other immortals who could help her or places she knew help could be found. She had been lectured on staying safe and had picked up extra time to train with her defence tactics, even stocking twice the amount of arrows she often kept on her person. But now Vaughan struck when Asha was in a vulnerable position, he had waited with supreme patience and taken grasp of the opportunity she had naively presented when she had slowed slightly in her pace and let her mind wander off in thought. Though his talons would leave acute puncture marks which would later ooze with Asha’s blood, dripping to the floor below where he would leave her body hung; Asha would suffer wounds of impact. Each blow was utilised to cause internal damage, crushing his sister’s body against the trunks of the oak trees, slamming her into the ground time and time again before she would eventually lose consciousness. He didn’t care if she was alive or not, though he made sure not to make a killing blow if it could be helped.

Standing little chance after the initial blow, Asha had tried to pull her bow string taught amidst sliding back up to standing position against the tree she had been thrown against, the pain striking her core as she fought to make sense of the manoeuvre. Her fingers had plucked the bowstring but it was a fruitless effort as her gaze lifted to the overarching figure before her. Vaughan’s hands gripped easily around her arm, and seemingly without a second glance or hesitation his other had seized the bow, ripping it from Asha’s grasp and tossing it like a childs toy, pulling his sister against his form and using his now free hand to take a grasp on her hand. He used the strength of his muscles and some easy calculation to bend her fingers the opposite way, a sickening crack and pop as Asha could only scream as her fingers disclocated. The pain had made her crumble more so as she desperately tried to wriggle free of Vaughan’s grasp, only futile in her attempts as Vaughan followed through in tossing his sister into another tree beside them, using the tree as a leverage point to break the arm he had been grasping. Asha’s eyes had filled with tears and horror as pain seared through her body and despite her best efforts she could only uselessly stab a small blade she had pulled from her waist line into Vaughan’s upper left arm.

“Silly little bitch!” Vaughan had snarled, the blade jutting out from his arm as he had held onto her by a fistful of hair, dragging her across the forest floor before slamming her head first into the dirt below them. The attack would last another ten minutes before Vaughan would slow, Asha left in a heap on the ground as she lost succumbed to her injuries and lost consciousness. He had taken the time from that point on to glide upwards, finding the grand old oak which held respect of those inhabiting the area. The oak tree was old, the oldest in the black woods and the perfect place to leave Asha’s body to serve as a clear warning to those who would dare cross him. Using an old trapper’s rope to bind a foot, Vaughan lifted Asha’s body high up into the tree, tightly trussing the rope to a branch. She dangled there, lifeless as blood trickled from her nose, her body covered in purple and black bruising where Vaughan had crushed her against tree trunks and the ground. The only registered mark left behind to know he had been the aggressor was the tell-tale puncture marks left on her from his talons. Her bow lay somewhere in the scrub and arrows left on the floor, some broken where the two had scuffled over the top and others simply scattered throughout the area. Her body had shutdown, the minimal functioning required for her to stay alive barely keeping her in such a state. From there Vaughan simply exited, leaving her as his marked warning.

The night had come and gone but the place had sunk into an eerie silence until the moment the solitary figure had appeared, tripping over the log which had sent him sprawling in a spectacular display. His discovery of Asha had been well timed, and as he had made his way to her, Asha’s body had moved to a state of preservation, her energy though weak having focused on the regenerative process in order to heal and survive. She had been freed from her place of restraint and as she was lowered to the floor, the movement caused a stir of life within her. Her eyelids twitched as the features of her face presented an expression of pain, a soft and weakened whimper as the man attempted to rouse her from her state. She was broken and barely conscious but could hear the faint sounds of the man’s voice in the distance, tears welling from her eyes as she tried so hard to move to his warmth though her strength diminished.

Concentrating entirely upon her face for the time being Coran moved closer, the situation merited little concern over personal space, a heart beat meant nothing to him, most creatures he knew did not have one so he would have to look for other signs which considering the bruising and dirt that covered her skin was proving to be a hard task. He could see no veins to gauge their colour and he could see no clear flesh to look for any sort of flush.
Keeping one hand against the side of his face he continued to move her gently with his thumb trying to rock her into some sort of reaction without doing further damage to her.
“Come on darlin' wake up.. give me something here”

Sighing he moved back against his haunches, withdrawing his hand from the cold cheek as he took a moment to look properly around their surroundings. In his haste he had thrown caution to the wind and not looked for danger. Gazing around he saw none, only the signs of the terrible ordeal the woman must have gone through.
Who ever attacked her did so over a large area and for a long time. It had to have been some sort of personally motivated attack. Leaving her to hang a message of some sort or maybe just another way to degrade her. “Oh bloody hell” he muttered to himself shaking his head.
This once again complicated things, keeping him from his past, he didn't believe in fate but he found it hard to ignore the fact things kept stopping him. Maybe he was not supposed to know. He could have moved on, left her there to the animals and sought out his answers yet it was not in his nature to do such a thing, the thought never crossed his mind.

As he looked back at her he gasped, swearing that he saw a slight movement from her. Leaning back in again he saw the moisture forming around the sealed eye lids and then her face registered pain.
As uncomfortable as it was to see her in such a way he found himself smiling with relief, his smile leaving his face quickly as the urgency of the situation took over.
He could help her, but not where they were. His blood would only help her so much but he refrained from giving it just yet. He did not know what type of creature she was and did not want to do more damage then good by adding the blood of a hybrid into the mix.
“It's OK. Don't move” he placed a hand gently upon her shoulder trying his best to reassure her. “I won't hurt you, just try to stay awake for me OK. I have to move you, we need to go and get some help”
His other arm moved underneath his back as he took a moment to position himself before drawing her up as cautiously as he could towards his chest where he carefully cradled her before rising to his feet.
“I don't suppose you know where the hell I should be going” he murmured not expecting an answer as he started to quickly walk in the opposite direction from where he had found her.

He moved through the forest as quickly but steadily as possible for what seemed like hours when finally a looming darkness rose within the forest over head. A building, large and imposing within the trees.
Whistling loudly to announce himself he proceeded not having any clue what sort of welcome if any they were walking into. It was a risk he was willing to take to try and help the stranger. “Stay with me, I am going to get you help”
Exiting the trees into what looked like an overgrown garden he found a gravel road and followed it towards the doors of what looked to be the main house.
“Hello, hello, anyone home... I could use some help!” he called loudly, tension rippling each of his muscles as he readied himself for a not so friendly welcome.

There was little to make out of the voice in the distance though it did just enough to stir Asha from her state, the tears beginning to slid over her bruised cheeks as she continued to stir weakly. It did not bring her to complete consciousness, instead she drifted in and out between what seemed to be the sensations of her pain wracked body and another of nightmare, reliving in dream state the way Vaughan had attacked her. In her dream she watched herself beg her brother to cease in his attack, watched as he took her in his grasp and pummelled her body into the ground. His cackle subsided as the voice came through, telling her to stay awake. But she was exhausted...she just needed to sleep...
As the man moved her Asha let out another soft whimper, the rune on her back glowing a dim purple haze as her body fought to heal itself. She was unable to control her healing ability in such a state and as such it was left to the man who now lifted her from the ground in his arms and carried her away with the intentions of securing her safety.

As usual Hope was in her room sat between two journals. KnOT's on one side and her own on the other. She had somewhat taking over writing down the Death legacy. When she received the journal it had ended when KnOT had. There was so much that had happened after him that needed to be told so without anyone's knowledge Hope had began adding her own account of recent events to it. Trying to keep it fact based, her personally journal was for her own personal opinions, her own secrets. On one hand she knew that writing them down was foolish, that it could be found and used against her. But with no one to talk too all she had to confide in was that journal and she treasured it more then any of her possessions, even her Jimmy Choo's.

Her head popped up from the pages when at first she thought she heard someone whistling. At first she thought it was Marcus although she had never known him to whistle their whole lives. But it soon became clear that Marcus wasn't the one whistling as a strange voice soon filled the house. " The fuck? " she muttered as she jumped out the bed. She had no idea who the hell would come barging into this house but if this was another one of Karne's strays, he was in for a shock when Hope kicked him out on his ass. She didn't care who he was, she couldn't deal with another lost puppy in this house. She was struggling just trying to keep her family safe, she didn't need anybody else coming in and screwing it up.

Dashing out of his room she was ready to kick some ass. Her muscles were tense as she approached the landing and looked down the staircase expecting to see some feral vampire. What she saw was much much worse. " Asha?! " Hope said stunned at the site of her friend in the guy's arms. She thought that Asha had gone home to Lacrimosa when all of this shit went down with Vaughn. Apparently she was wrong. She ran down the stairs toward the man who was a stranger to her but seemed to know to bring her here. " What happened? " Hope asked the guy but looking at her cousin trying to judge her injuries. " Bring her in here. " she said leading him toward the lounge.

" Lay her down there. " Hope pointed to the couch as she walked to ward a large cupboard in the room. Opening the doors, there was a medical bag in there and lucky for Asha, Ajax had recently provided supplies that helped restock all the bags and from teh luck of Asha, she was going to need it. Throwing the bag beside Asha, Hope looked her over. " Ash, Ash come on girl wake up. " Hope said trying to stir her. She looked at the guy and began pointing toward the kitchen. " You what's your face, go into the kitchen and get me some water and towels. " she wasn't usually comfortable with letting strangers wander around the house but she had no choice in the matter. Asha needed help and Hope had to put her trust issues aside for a moment to help her, as hard as it was. For all she knew he had done this to her and if she found out he did, he wouldn't be around to see her recover.

"Well i'll be damned" he scoffed as a woman appeared in the hallway above them looking alarmed when she spotted the predicament he was in. She seemed to know the girl he had found. It was pure luck that had him find the place so fast, Asha had been unhelpful not that he could blame her, she looked half dead and fading fast, he was relieved to find the place. Even more relieved that there was actually someone home he looked to be more then willing in helping the girl. "Asha" he spoke the girls name as Hope exclaimed and rushed towards them "Hold on there Asha"
He spoke gently to the girl, having got some what attached to the thought of her staying alive.

"I don't know. I found her rope tied to that massive tree a ways back. Looks like she has been this way for a few days at least"
The bruising upon Asha was not that of fresh injuries. Sadly he thought she had been alone for a while. He just hoped she had not been aware and frightened for that entire time.

He was glad when he was met without opposition, the urgency of Asha's condition put above the fact he was a stranger to the woman, he followed her instruction glad once more when she didn't try and take Asha from his grasp, he didn't wish any more pain upon her then he had to inflict
Following Hope's guide he moved towards the couch taking himself down onto one knee while making sure not to move Asha from the position he had her in until it came time for him to lay her down very tentatively.

He stood back ignoring the state he was in, her blood old and new soaked down his front in a gruesome smear, his beige boots covered in splatters of it.
Hope seemed to know what she was doing, grabbing supplies so he didn't argue when she asked help of him.
He moved as soon as the order was issued "Coran" he called back over his shoulder as he left the room, returning as quickly as possible with the water and towels Hope had wanted.

Placing them next to her he moved to Asha's other side so not to get in Hope's way. He didn't know either of them but he didn't want to leave. He wanted to see it through, for his own peace of mind, wanting to know whether the girl made it through.
"Is there anything I can do?"
He was used to patching people up on the battle field anything more intricate then that was lost upon him.

Hope's had went to work, cutting the fabric from Asha's skin that was practically caked on. She didn't much care for her dignity right now. Hope had to see what had happened to her and given that the guy had pulled her out of a tree she figured Asha wouldn't mind. " Damn Asha what the hell happened to you? " she said not really expecting an answer but talking out loud as her hands went to work. Patching people up was becoming second nature to her in this house and she began looking for the worst of her wounds first. There was rope burns along her body, she struggled. " Shit.. " she muttered as she couldn't imagine what she had gone through.

However her flawless routine halted as what's his face told her his name. " Coran? " she repeated not quite believing it. Unbeknownst to him Hope knew exactly who he was and had she known that she wouldn't of been so indifferent to him being there. KnOT was a good record keeper and up until Coran had just been a name on a page. But now she2  had a face for the name, the face that her mother made a deal with a demon for and caused basically every bad thing that had happened to them since... well since birth. If it wasn't for the fact that he had brought Asha here, he'd of been out on his ass already.

He returned with the water and towels and Hope began to wash the old blood away so that she could see the wounds better. Coran offered to help and Hope turned to look at him. " No I think you've done enough. " she said taking her resentment out on him without meaning too but it was hard for her to pretend that everything was just hunky dory. This guy condemned her mother to Hell so she wasn't about to be all pally with him even if he did save Asha's ass.

" Just stay out of my way. " she muttered as she unzipped the medical bag and began pulling out everything she needed. Pulling out a stitching kit, Hope began to thread the needle. Asha needed stitches and that was just to begin with. " Asha if you can hear me girl I'm sorry this is gonna sting. " she said and then began to pierce her skin and stitch the wound. " I promise there won't even be a scar so you can thank me later. " she smirked and then began closing the wound with neat tight stitches while watching Coran in the corner of her eye.

When Coran set Asha down on the couch she let out a soft whimper, his warmth having disappeared though the couch fabric was soft. Unlike Coran the couch did not move and this simple fact aided Asha purely as there were no bumps or jagged movements to prompt further pain to shoot through her limbs. As she lay on the couch Asha remained unconcious, though her mind was very much alert in a dream state.

She had relived the horror of her brother attacking her in the black woods but as this had ended she had found herself thrown back into her childhood, envisioning herself as a little girl in her small home village. She was sitting in front of the fireplace, the warlock sitting opposite her and watching intently as Asha held her hand over a pot plant, trying her hardest to stimulate the growth of a seed her mentor had placed. It was her twelfth attempt and her hand shook as she tried to focus and use her ability. At last she let out an exasperated sigh, dropping her hand as her mentor lunged his hand forward, rapping the tops of her knuckles with his old cane. she let out a sharp hiss and groan at the pain her mentor caused through the hit and he tutted her as she glared at him.

"I told you to focus Asha, try once more" he lectured her. She grumbled under her breath as the warlock had smiled knowingly,
"Focus, you have the ability, you just need the right answer'.

Even as she dreamt, Asha could hear the faint sounds of voices, her brows creasing as Hope spoke to her. her friends voice dragged her back from the dream, Hope's voice becoming more clearer as Asha fought against the exhaustion her body was moving through. She tried to speak to Hope with urgency, to tell her what had happened and though she thought she was doing this it barely registered as she lay on the couch, an occasional groan and incoherent mumble save for 'Vaughan' and 'tree'. As Hope worked away in aid, Asha's body fought hard, soft purple radiating glowing flames dancing from her rune and along her skin, drawing energy where possible to regenerate.

Returning to the room he was met with hostility, frowning he stepped away confused as to what he could have done in the space of leaving the room and returning to piss her off.
Passive aggressive seemed to be her approach both times she spoke to him letting him know just just how she felt.

He moved away at her not so friendly request and walked towards the side of the room to take a seat on the arm of one of the scattered arm chairs.
If it had not been for his desire to make sure Asha was Ok he would have turned and walked away there and then. He had no idea who Hope thought she was but he had just gone out of his way to help her friend and all he received in response were angry comments.

Sighing he told himself that maybe it could just have been from the stress of the situation. That maybe Hope didn't handle seeing her friend in a mess all that well and just happened to be lashing out and taking it out on him.
Or maybe she was always like that, just some self entitled bitch. But something bugged him making him think that maybe there was more to it then there seemed to be.
He found himself wondering if some how she knew his name, her attitude changing the second he had informed her of it.
He decided to sit silently, Asha the main priority to address. Not Hope's shitty attitude.

Stitching up what looked like puncture holes on Asha's arms, she heard her mumbling something but all she was able to make out was Vaughn's name. " Vaughn.. I know Ash, it's ok, you're safe. " she said trying to reassure her. Thankfully she wasn't reacting to the pain which she was grateful for. It was far easier to stitch when they weren't flinching. As Hope continued to work ignoring her unwanted house guest as Asha began to glow purple. " Shit I forgot you did that. " she muttered as she closed up her last wound.

Checking for any other wounds, Hope didn't see much point in stitching her up any further since she was trying so hard to try and heal herself. Hope had only seen this once before when she and Asha had found Romal in the woods. He had been badly beat up too and Asha had channeled her to help heal him. Looks like she was going to have to do more of the same again. " Ash girl we have to stop doing this seriously your family is making a habit of it. " she said as she took Ash's hand in hers.

" Ok Ash you do your thing. " she said not exactly sure what the technically term was for it but she knew that she couldn't do it, it was up to Ash now. Sitting on the floor, she knew how draining this process could be and thought she should sit for it. Unfortunately sitting gave her the perfect view of Coran. Glancing at him she ran her eyes up and down him. Asha was beginning to suck the energy from her which wasn't helping her mood or her resentment toward him. " So you're Coran.. " she said, she had read about him but she pictured him differently. Considering what he had done to her mother, the way he treated her after she gave up everything to save him.

" I thought you'd be taller. " she said chuckling to herself before deciding to bite the bullet and confront him. " So why are you back here Coran? Didn't you run off somewhere after my Mother sold her soul for you and nursed you back to health? " she said sounding rather blah-zay about the whole thing but she couldn't hide the daggers in her eyes. " Oh sorry how rude of me I never introduced myself. I'm Hope Cass's daughter. " she said sounding snarky. " You know the woman who sold her soul for you, who destroyed her whole life to give you yours back and then you just turn your back on her. " she reminded him, judging him based on everything she had read on KnOT's journal. " I can already tell we're going to be great friends. " she said sarcastically smiling at him and batting her eyelids at him as the energy was slowly sucked out of her. Today was turning out to be just great.

Asha seemed to light up aglow while Hope worked upon her, being used to the strange and the wonderful Coran didn't pay all that much attention to it other then noting that she obviously seemed to be more then she appeared. She spoke a name but that meant absolutely nothing to him so he remained as unobtrusive as possible. Hope shooting him the daggers as she sat down to do some sort of energy transferal.

She started to speak to him in the same sort of tone that she had spoken to him before. "Mhm" he nodded. She obviously knew him commenting upon his height he frowned. None of it made any sense to him yet but it soon would do as Hope spoke on holding grudges from two decades ago long before she had been born.

Suddenly it all seemed to be making sense, yet at the same time it made none at all. Hope was Cass daughter, that was a surprise to him but one he didn't mention wondering if maybe KnOT was the girls father.
"Woah, slow down would you" she was gunning for him that much was obvious and if she had just one side of the whole thing he couldn't really blame her.

"She sold her soul.." he spoke more to himself then to Hope as she mocked him with a snide comment about friendship.
"She sold her fucking soul.... well of course she did" shaking his head he stood up his eyes darting to Asha for a moment before going back to Hope. This was not the time nor the place but it seemed Hope was giving him little choice in the conversation.

He had been so confused when he had returned to Cass, being kept in Knigh's container was one big blur to him. He had never known how his return had come about and by the time he had finally got enough energy to venture out Mirobella returned delivering him straight back to hell.

It didn't occur to him that she had asked more questions or that she seemed to think he had some big evil role in the whole thing, Cass selling her soul was news to him.
Raising his hand to silence her he took a moment to try and work out what the hell had been happening.
"Look, I didn't know OK. KnOT killed me, I came back, I don't remember much of that then a few weeks later who ever let me out pulled me back in. The last twenty five years I have been in hell realms"
He hadn't spoken about that to anyone, the words felt foreign yet he moved on confused by everything she had said.
"Where is Cass now?" he needed to speak to her, to work out what the hell had happened, if Hope was anything to go by it was the start of something terrible.

Watching his reaction, he did seem genuinely surprised to find out that her mother had sold her soul to save him. Still, she had done everything for that guy and he just up and left or so she thought till he mentioned being in Hell. Her frosty attitude thawed somewhat as she glanced up to Asha to see how she was getting along. She had certainly dug herself into a hole now. She had assumed Coran knew about her mothers sacrifice but of course Hope should of known that this was one of her mother's many secrets. Now he was looking for her and Hope had to be the bearer of the bad news as usual.

" You just missed her, she died not that long ago. " Hoe informed him figuring after the way she tore him a new one he deserved a bit more information then that. " After she made that deal life kinda went down hill, there was some chick Jasmine something and then there was Plague, now Plague made Jasmine look like her best friend. He took my mother, made her a reaper, fucked her and then killed her. " she said sounding rather indifferent about it all but it was the only way she could cope with it all. If she took it to serious she might of cracked up.

" Obviously somewhere in there she had three kids. " she shrugged as she rolled her head. She was feeling that strange sensation again that she did the last time she did this. It wasn't all that  bad but it wasn't pleasant either. She imagined this is what the flu felt like for humans or something. But she would tolerate it for Asha's sake. She could hardly complain given the state Asha was in. " So yeah, if you wanted to thank her you're kind of late. " she muttered wondering what the hell he was doing in the hell realms. She was pretty certain her mother wouldn't of wanted that.

" So you really didn't know? " she asked wondering what he thought had happened. " She made a deal for you and your brother... Mick? Whatever his name was, KnOT wrote it down. She felt bad that he killed you guys, wanted to make it right. She was stupid like that. " Hope said a kind of sad look crossing her face for a moment. On one hand there was no doubt that all of their lives would of been easier if she hadn't made the deal to begin with and her mother would probably still be alive. But then Destiny wouldn't exist and Hope loved her sister. It was a twisted thought but Hope couldn't help herself. " By the sound of it you would of been better off dead. " she added wondering if he or his brother were even worth her mother's sacrifice. So far, she was doubting it.

“What?” she held nothing back and seemed not to have even a hint of compassion towards him as she informed him that Cass had died, if she knew as much as she seemed to think she did then she should have known that they were friends before KnOT had destroyed that by ripping his heart out f his chest with his bare hands, leaving his younger and much loved brother to witness his death. Coran had only found out of Nikalos's death only by picking up upon chatter from other spirits. The memory of that had haunted him every day since and he still didn't know what had become of him.
As Hope explained the circumstances that led to her mother's death he found himself returning to the chair, this time slumping down into it instead of perching upon the seat.
Hope delivered blow after blow without seeming to bat an eye lid even belittling the memory of his brother with a simple brush over of his name, as though he had meant nothing at all.

He felt sick. He had wanted answers but he had expected those answers to come from either KnOT himself or from Cass, not from some kid with a major chip on her shoulder. He knew of both demons she mentioned and he would not have wished either of them on his worse enemy let alone someone he had considered a close friend.
With his emotions getting the better of him he forced himself to take a moment to draw in a steady set of breaths clearing his lungs in attempt to calm and clear his mind.

As she mentioned thanking Cassandra he rose his head which had dropped his eyes having fallen onto his lap and he looked at her. Mere moments before he hadn't know he had needed to thank her for anything, now he had been told that she had destroyed herself, her life and her children's lives all because she had wanted to help him it was a vicious and crushing reality that he found himself in, guilt suddenly overwhelming him.

“No, no I didn't know” not that it mattered, he had created life times of suffering for Cassandra, or so Hope thought. Had KnOT not have acted out of petty anger and vengance none of it would have needed to happen in the first place.
“I was dead” he muttered wondering if she was indeed right, hell and mayhem had bought pain beyond anything imaginable, it had played with body and spirit bringing real fears to life over and over again, yet he had never felt guilt over anything, never knew he had to. Until now.

It was a lot to take in, to much to take in and he found himself feeling very insecure about the whole thing.
"How's your friend?" he nodded to Asha, she was their main concern, as soon as he knew she was ok he had no intention of sticking around, even his desire for answers broken by the delivery of news from the spiteful girl before him.

The glimmer of purple radiated across the surface of her skin, dancing flames which dissipated into the air as energy was pulled from the environment around Asha. As Hope took Asha’s hand in her own the direct connection between the two energies was formed and from it Asha’s body had begun to immediately draw energy from Hope to regenerate, the increase in energy stimulating change at the base cellular level. Her heart rate would steadily rise over time, working hard to increase her blood flow. Externally she lay almost peacefully despite the events which had come before.

As Hope and Coran exchanged words in a somewhat strained conversation, Asha drifted back to a dream far from the conflict of the present. She was brought back to a time where she stood in the middle of a large hall, full of old antique objects and furniture that looked as old as the stone walls they lined. She was much younger then but in her dream she was her current age and every sensation felt real. So too was the voice of the warlock who walked up and beside her, hunched over and aged, his face showing his age to be grand. His walking aid was a black iron staff, the top a silver handle shaped as a scorpion with its tail in striking pose. The warlocks wrinkled fingers pressed comfortably around the scorpion tail as he pushed off the staff for leverage as he stepped. Asha could only stare in confusion as she remembered the man walking along the hall with her back then, though exactly why she was in the old castle in this moment was yet to be learnt.

Asha glanced around briefly at the objects that lined the hall, portraits hanging from the walls depicting various figureheads from the past and others depicting scenes of war or celebration. There were suits of armour, mounted weapons and sideboards containing drawers full of secrets, none as impressive as the architecture of the castle hallway walls and the doors to the room ahead of them. She could remember this moment now as the warlock walked beside her in silence, she had spent months traveling with the man under the guise of young boy. They had walked beside their allies for months during a war which was raging across the countryside between two factions of demons and she had managed to craft her ability to regenerate under the careful protective watch of the warlock. But it was in the castle walls that her abilities and mind were tested, she knew that as soon as they passed the doors ahead her young self would witness the arrival of her father. She remembered having to stand in a crowd of strangers while her father Nero had paraded past, having to maintain her composure and silence. She learnt that day there were times she had to remain hidden in plain sight despite the desperate urge to do anything but this.

The eyes of her father were sinister in nature and held more evil than she cared to acknowledge however it was the sensation as she looked into his eyes that brought her straight out of her dream, her body jerking roughly as she snatched her hand from Hope in panic as her eyelids fluttered open and the fabric of the couch beneath her prompted Asha to realise she was somewhere other than the tree she had been left hanging from. She had instinctively sat bolt upright despite her body aching with pain and her eyes widened as she immediately tuned into the fact that there was a strange man opposite her. Her breath short and sharp she tried to find words as she glanced down to Hope beside the couch.

Coran showed little emotion in the way of words but his body language spoke volumes and to her surprise her words seem to have come at him like a curveball. Hoe had he not known what her mother had done for him? Did he think that people just came back from the dead with no intervention? Maybe he had been walking around thinking he was a zombie this whole time. Her annoyance toward the male only grew as he attempted to process what she had said. If he wasn't ready to hear the truth then he shouldn't of come barging in here. Then again she was glad he had otherwise Asha would be a goner. She could appriciate it that if nothing else.

Rather than baret him any further she remained silent. She had presumed that Coran knew this and had been roaming around ungrateful, not caring about what her mother had sacrificed for him. Having been corrected she thought better to stop while she was ahead. She looked up at Asha and admired the purple glow that was slowly weakening her. The effects slowly becoming more noticeable as Hope forced herself to keep her hand intertwined with Asha's. Every fiber of her being telling her to stop as her energy was slowly being spent.

Unfortunately this wasn't the first Hope had loaned her energy to Asha only the first time that was for Romal's benefit, Asha's brother. It seemed they got in about as much trouble as they did but there had been far too many close calls of late, for all of them. Sitting in relative silence, Hope would glance between the pair until he asked how Asha was. " She'll.... " Hope couldn't finish her sentence when Asha suddenly sat bolt upright. " Jesus.. " Hope said as she turned to look her in the eyes. Her hand moved to her arm reassuringly in case she didn't realise where she was.

" Hey Ash, it's ok you're at the manor, you're safe. " she tried offering her a smile and a gentle squeeze. Looking back at Coran, the smile didn't extend as far as him. " Does that answer your question? " she asked, on edge from the draining procedure she endured to help Asha. Sighing, she tried to hold back her tongue and  then turned back to her friend, one of the few female ones she had. " Ash what happened? " she asked not wanting to overwhelm her but also curious to know that had happened to her. She knew of Vaughn and the danger he now posed and if he was actively seeking them out she needed to know, not just for Ash but for her Aunt and the rest of the people under this roof too.

He sat in shock for a while as he waited to see how Asha was, the news that Cass had given birth to twins and then everything else that had happened afterwards a bitter pill to swallow. He had not been aware on any of it and the fact that Cass had made a deal only for the demon to go back on it without telling her making him feel physically sick. Cass had done all of that for him without his knowledge but also without actually gaining anything from it as he had been pulled back into death a few days after his return.
It was pretty soul crushing to know that it was not only his life that had been ruined that day. KnOT had a lot to answer to, not that he could answer for anything, though Coran did not know that.

How ever his desire to chase down KnOT for answers had now been eclipsed by his desire to remove himself from the company of Hope, he would have given anything to not feel at least obligated to make sure Asha pulled through.

Then life surged back, Asha sitting up bolt upright, Hope going to her for comfort. He watched silently as Asha looked at him in fear Hope at her side giving her more care then she seemed capable of giving if her words to him moments before had any reflection upon her.

"Yes, it does" he replied to Hope not bothering to fight against the hatred she obviously felt for him. It was out of his control and he had done nothing to provoke it other then falling foul of her insane grandfather.
Walking towards the door he had no intention of sticking around for more bombs to shell shock him further.
Pausing he looked at Asha just to make sure. "I'm glad you're alright"

It took a moment or two for Asha to speak, mainly as she tried to bring herself back to reality from the shock of what had happened and the equally confusing dreams she had experienced. The severity of her wounds had dramatically decreased from the energy she had leeched from Hope though she was not surprised to still feel lethargic and sore as all hell. The distal ulna which had been fractured severely had fused back in place, some of the minor bones also moving back into place which would help in further healing. Feeling a great deal better than she had been Asha calmed when Hope reassured her that she was safe and in the manor. The manor was a welcomed sight and feeling more comfortable despite the stranger in the room Asha let out a shaky breathe whilst Hope made somewhat of a snappy comment to the man. Things weren’t clear at the time for Asha but she figured she would be able to make sense of them sooner rather than later.

“How did I...I mean how long?’ Asha began to mumble as she glanced over to the man who told her he was glad that she was alright. He seemed to be in one piece and unscathed so she hoped that he hadn’t encountered Vaughan. She felt confusion more than anything and after a moment she looked back to Hope as a lump formed in her throat.
“It was Vaughan..he attacked me.” She looked to the man and thought for a brief second before asking him, “Did you see him?”
Looking back to Hope she tried to stop the welling lump and urge to let out tears of despair. “He didn’t stop,....he laughed...he isn’t the same” she muttered as she shook her head.
