Chances

Post by Mikayla Nekishu on Mon 14 Nov 2016, 10:56

Crawling onto the embankment of the sewage works outlet water heaved painfully from her lungs, her body retching violently to try and clear it. Unable to take a proper breath stars were dancing in the darkness before her eyes. Consciousness threatened to leave her at any moment her body aching for the still silence yet she refused it and by sheer will alone she continued to move each cough clearing more and more water from her until she found herself able to breath shallow painful breaths.
Her naked body shivered the cold air biting at the wet flesh, streaks of her skin beginning to show underneath the layers of dried blood and filth that had been covering her after months of neglect, muscles had long ago started to waste and her bones had become sculpted by the flesh, protruding paper thin skin threatening to tear against them.

When once again Mikayla found herself captive she did not expect to be saved she knew no one would come for her, her freedom had been so brief she nearly allowed herself to give up, to shut down and let their torture kill her. At times she had even wanted that death to come for her. Life had been nothing but pain caused by others hands and she had been given a brief glimpse of life only to have it stolen away again, it would have been enough to break anyone yet unbeknownst to Mikayla she was her father's daughter, she refused to give in, refused to back down. Even when death came knocking she stared it straight in the eye buying herself time to fight.

She knew she had to keep moving so she did, each shuffle bringing her closer to the top where the ground would level off. She had no idea where she would find herself but she didn't care, she just needed to keep moving and put as much room between herself and the laboratory as she possibly could.
It wouldn't be long before there were people looking for her and the others that had escaped, she could ill afford to succumb to injuries and exhaustion.

Rolling herself over the top she screamed a mixture of exertion and pain slamming her as the flesh grazed upon her back, a gravel path now underneath her. Turning onto her front she managed to push herself up to stand. Her knees shook and her balance was off but she grit her teeth and carried on. The path had to lead somewhere and desperately she followed it fighting with each step, if she fell again now she knew there would be no getting up. She would be no more then food for the pests.

Ketzu had been back 'home' for a couple of days, after getting over a raging, embarrassing, hangover, he decided to get back out there and get back to work. Of course, he followed in Knigh's steps in that respect, to be a hired gun, and he had gone out to meet someone for a job. The meet had been slap bang in ox territory, but luckily, Ketzu was always careful and managed to stay off of their radar, so for him, it was not all that dangerous, well not as dangerous as it was for the Death-Reigns anyway.

He was driving whilst shoving a sandwich into his mouth, whilst singing along to eye of the tiger, ever the multitasker, ''And he's watching us all in the eye of the tiger... damn this shit is good.'' He said, banging his fingers on the steering wheel and dancing a little while he was at it. It felt good to be back in his human form again, even if he preferred being a wolfy. ''Face to face out in the heat....'' He continued singing, ''What the....'' Ketzu squinted to the side of the road, seeing...a naked and injured woman wobbling about the place. He looked in his mirrors and continued on but kept looking back, ''God damn it.'' He muttered annoyed, pulling over as his conscience got the better of him. He put the car in reverse and pulled back, stopping when he closed in on the women. Ketzu rolled down the window, ''Oi..'' He shouted with clear irritation in his voice, ''What the bloody hell...'' He decided he must look like some weirdo trying to kidnap her and got out of the car instead.

He walked slowly towards her with his hand raised either side of him, ''Look here, if you're some psycho then tell me now and I'll just be on my way.'' He said stepping closer until he stopped just in front of her, keeping his eyes on her face rather than her nude body. He sniffed the air, weirdly it would seem to some, and realised in an instant that she was a wolf. ''Hey.'' He said with a tut, before removing his jacket and holding it out to her. He would have put it on her himself but he wasn't about to touch some weird naked stranger, even if she was like him. ''Cover yourself up. You're lucky I saw you and not some twat from Ox Corp or just some crazy dude. Seriously.'' He said with a disapproving shake of his head. ''Well, anyway, you look like you could do with some help, am I right?'' He asked, placing his hands in his pockets as he waiting for an answer, his lack of patience quite obvious.

She was absence of all thought other then the one that kept telling her to move, that she must not stop until it was safe.
Her vision had all but failed her leaving her with a tunnel of sight as she moved over the path the rough stones biting at her feet cutting away the fragile skin until blood covered them, leaving semi foot prints behind her as she stumbled on looking like something from Night Of The Living Dead.

She hadn't even noticed the path join onto the road when a car shot passed her the vibrations of it making her aware of it, her hearing not having picked it up as the ringing in her ears had become to loud.
Unfocused eyes lifted to see the reverse lights of the car ahead as it began a backwards drive towards her someone shouting something at her that she did not catch before the door swung open and out he climbed.

Everything told her to run but her legs simply would not carry her. The best she could do was start to turn away from him in a few stumbling steps side long from the way she had been going but he quickly stopped her by standing in front of him.

His words meant nothing to her, she couldn't make them out nor did she waste her energy trying to listen to him, her body telling her loudly that it had enough now everything threatening to shut down on her where she stood.

He held a coat out to her and her hand went out to it out of instinct the material slipping through her hand forcing her arm downwards with the weight of it until she dropped it with a more exaggerated backwards stumble.

Her trembling cracked lips parted as for the first time she really felt like she was breaking. She had been kept locked away for so long each time escaping, now this man stood before her probably one of them coming to take her back.
Shallow breaths raised in speed weakly as fear gripped her her legs giving way bringing her down onto her knees hard, the stones tearing through to the bone upon them which had already been threatening to poke out of her emaciated body. "Just kill me" she growled words no louder then a whisper her voice obviously broken through not being used for weeks at a time.
"I won't go back"

Ketzu watched as his jacket, which weighed no more than a saucepan was weakly dropped to the ground. Ketzu let his eyes travel over the women to inspect her current state, she was all skin and bone, no fat on her whatsoever, she was cut and bruised all over and he realised wherever she came from, she could not have come very far. Her hair was wet however, perhaps she travelled down a river to here or something. Weighing up the options, unless some crazy serial killer had got his hands on her, this was Oxen work. Ketzu looked back at where she had come from, bloody footprints left in her wake. He frowned, angry at what a state she was in, at whoever had done this to a her. He sighed to himself but then shot forward as she fell to her knees, he heard the crunch of her skin and bone and the smell of her blood, ''Jesus Christ love.'' He said a little nicer now than his impatient self a moment before. He might have been annoyed at this inconvenience, but he wasn't all monster.

He crouched in front of her, hearing her asking him to kill her, that she wouldn't go back. He studied her for a moment, this women was beyond broken. He took his jacket from the floor and leant towards her, tucking it over her shoulders and around her. ''I'm not going to hurt you.'' He said gently, showing his more softer side. ''Whoever is after you...'' He said, placing his hand under her chin so she would look up at him to see he was serious. ''I will protect you.'' He stood up and held a hand out to help her up. ''You can trust me. I am like you.'' He said, allowing his eyes to flash a change of colour a moment.

Ketzu helped the woman up gently by holding her hand and then moving it over so her arm rested over his shoulder. He then looked at her feet and decided to lift her up in a cradle carry. This was all so weird to him and he wondered what the bloody hell he was doing right now. He walked her over to his car in silence and opened the passenger side. She was too weak to do anything so he placed her gently down and strapped her in like he would a child. After he sorted that out, he went to the boot and pulled out a blanket. Going to the drivers side, he scooted in and shut the door, instantly starting the car to put the heat on for her. He placed the blanket over her and then faced the front, sighing to himself and running a slightly agitated hand through his hair. ''Bloody hell.'' He cursed to himself.

''Right well, you are here now. I have declared my help to you. so... that is that.'' He said matter of factly. ''Oh, um, my name is Ketzu by the way. And if you will let me, I will help you.'' He said, thinking about how the bloody hell he was going to sneak her back home after he had agreed with Hope about the waif and strays being disposed of by him.

She knelt there with her head down, unable to look at the man who would take her life from her and she waited. She waited for the misery to come to an end and as she did a calm came over her thinking that the end would be a relief and one she deserved after a life time full of torture and hatred. She knew nothing other then pain it would be a welcome change to be delivered from it.
But the death blow never came as the man wrapped the coat around her, weighing her down she seemed to shrink under the weight of it the material painful against the skin but the warmth it offered from the bite of the wind made up for it.

Even warmed flesh touched her now lifting her chin so she had no choice but to stare back at his keen eyes with her own clouded ones. He spoke softly to her and through the ringing she heard him.
Confused she watched him not understanding why he would help her or want to do anything for her, not until he said that he was like her, his eyes changing.
She had always been alone other then her brief meeting with Maylin, she didn't know how to be with others yet the relief she felt when she realized he really was only wanting to help her was almost crippling in its strength.
He wanted to protect her, no one had ever wanted such a thing but she found herself trusting him, she had little other choice.

He pulled her to her feet her muscles strugging to keep her legs from giving out again but then in a mercy he picked her up her body turning towards his warmth in a way that would have shamed her were she not so close to death.
Her eyes had closed and when she opened them again he had sat her within a car and had leaned over her to put some sort of restraint upon her.
Leaving her he returned with a blanket which placed over her offered a barrier of comfort.

Leaving again he returned to sit next to her, turning the heat on her eyes closed once again her head falling to lean against the passengers side door as he spoke telling her his name. Ketzu. Should consciousness not have left her at that moment she would have spoken her name in return.

Ketzu watched as the girl fell asleep, or passed out, one or the other. He sighed and tucked the blanket in tighter around her. He wondered just what she had been through, she looked like she had been through a life of torture and starvation and Ketzu knew that that could well be true. He looked around, making sure no one was following them and pulled away, turned around and headed back the way he had come from.

On the journey back, he had second thoughts about taking the girl back home to the manor, she would be safer in a hotel, so that is what he decided. He drove far enough away from where he had found her to have a head start if anyone came after her. Pulling in to a hotel, he parked up and locked her in there as he went to check in using one of his many aliases. The job he was going to sort out earlier could wait.

Ketzu came back to the car a few minuets later and tried to wake the girl up, ''Oi, we are at a hotel. I will keep you safe here for a bit.'' He said, not knowing if she was even hearing him or not. Without asking, he bent down and scooped her up once more, covering her over and locking the car after him. He cradled her against him to stop the cold from getting to her and carried her to the room, 401. Once inside he placed her on the bed and pulled the covers over her to let her rest.

-----

Many hours had passed and Ketzu had been out and brought back bags of stuff which now lay scattered on the kitchen table, food and drink of all varieties, he had no idea what she did or didn't like so he just grabbed a bit of everything. It was bloody torture him trying his best not to scoff it all down himself. He had also bought some women's toiletries for her and clothes, not knowing her size they would probably be far too big for her, but he couldn't have a naked women wondering around all the time .

Now Ketzu sat reading a book Drakkar had given him in silence, every now and again he looked over to the bed to make sure she wasn't dead or something.

Her sleep had been a dreamless one only interrupted infrequently by jolting of the vehicle or by Ketzu saying something, none of which had been strong enough to stir her from her much needed slumber. Sleep deprivation had been one of the many experiments placed upon her in the study she had been forced to participate in so much so that once she had fallen asleep it took her many hours to wake.
Stirring slowly underneath the covers she fought for a while before being able to return back to proper levels of consciousness only to jolt awake and spring up into a panicked sitting position when she did. Looking around she started to pull herself back up against the head board only to jump up and stumble from the bed when her back had hit upon it. Never in her life had Mikalya slept in a bed, other then the medical ones the Ox personnel had strapped her to.

She had no idea where she was or what was happening, her body ached the pain threatening to cripple had as once again starvation and fatigue started to over come her, her heart rate having increased to much to sustain itself in such an over stretched body.

It took a few moments before she started to remember what had happened. “Hannah..” a gasped name as her back hit the wall her nails tearing through the browned aged wallpaper. Hannah had helped them to escape. Got them access to the sewers where her and some of the others had fled. They had been followed and somewhere along the way she had fallen and been dragged away by the waters until being flung a hundred or so feet down into an overflow lake.
That's when he had found her. Looking up she saw him now, she remembered his word. He wanted to help her.
Knees buckling she slid down to the floor, making herself as small and as imposing as she could. A far cry from the strong and rather brutal character she usually would have been.
Drawing her knees to her chest she watched him, waiting to see if he would betray her.

Ketzu sat with his feet up and crossed on the table in front of him, still his book in hand reading and checking on the girl every now and again with a glance. Hours had past, it was a good job this was one long ass book. Eventually the girl began to stir and then jolt awake, Ketzu remained stock still and watched her as she freaked out and glanced around her hastily. She said a name, and then met his gazee for a moment. It took her some time to come to until she crumpled to the floor and tucked into herself like a scared child. She continued to stare at him until he moved, uncrossing his feet he brought them from the table to the floor. Ketzu folded the corner of the page he was on and gently placed the book on the table. He looked at the book and realised that his every move he was subconsciously making slow, like he didn't want to scare her any more than she already was. He shook his head to himself at that, his 'nice' behaviour surprising himself. ''Hannah?'' He asked, standing but remaining where he was, ''Is that your name?'' He doubted it, from the way she had called it out, it didn't sound as though she were introducing herself to him.

He moved towards her and leant on the door frame of the bedroom, crossed his arms, ''I bought some woman stuff, you know... shower gel and shampoo and what not. Go and have a shower.'' He said, indicating his head to the stuff on the side and then towards the door to the bathroom. Of course he had no idea that she probably didn't know how to use one. ''I bought a bunch of shit, so eat whatever you like after you have showered and changed, alright?'' He said, feeling rather awkward. Not once had he brought a woman to a hotel that was not some one night stand or love interest to him, but here he was, being all nicey nice, the thought made him pull a face to himself.

As he moved in a slow and careful way her eyes followed him his question startling her as she had not been aware that she had called out a name in her panic. "No..No it's no one" she still didn't know who he was. He was a wolf like her that much he had shown but other then that and the fact he seemed to be helping her she knew nothing about him and she didn't intend on telling him anything about Hannah in case some how the information got back to the humans and they did something bad to her.

He walked towards her now and she moved to grip tighter to her knees afraid he would touch her. "Mikayla" she replied quietly the act of giving her name an act of trust in itself, even if for now it felt all wrong. He had helped her she had to at least be cooperative.

Leaning against the door close by to her he started to talk about female products and showers. She knew what a shower was but had never been fortunate enough to have one, the same with feminine products. No one had ever cared to get her anything so she had never used it. The cleanest she ever got was if she had been allowed into the lake or if they had hosed her off with cold water before a fight.
He had food for her, her hollow stomach clenched at the thought and that was incentive enough for her to move.
Using the wall for support she rose to her feet before moving off in the direction of the bathroom.
Stepping around him she walked inside, leaving the door open she had little concept of privacy.

Staring at what seemed to be a tray she was to step in she tilted her head to look at the taps that attached to a hose leading to the shower head.
Frowning for a moment she bent down twisting both nobs flinching as the water suddenly shot out at force.
It seemed strange and unnatural to her, her hand lifting slowly to reach out for the water testing it, unsure whether stepping underneath it would be such a good idea.

Even with his slow movements, the girl was clearly scared of him, and perhaps she should be, he wasn't exactly a good person or anything, but, he would keep his word and keep her safe while she was with him. ''Hmm, okay.'' He replied not really caring for who the name belonged to, it was her business. ''Mikayla..'' He repeated, her having finally given him her name. ''Right well, Mikayla, off you pop.'' He said shooing her to the bathroom with a hand gesture.

Mikayla went to the bathroom and left the door open, he shook his head to himself, it was a good job he didn't find her attractive. She seemed to just stand there gawping at the shower, turning it on and then what.. not knowing what to do. Ketzu laughed quietly to himself before he strode over to the bathroom. ''Right well, you have to set the temperature right.'' He said, adjusting the taps and getting his arm soaked in the process. ''You step in there okay? The get some of this, and put in on this..'' He said, showing her what to do with the shower gel, ''And rub it all over you to clean you up. You might need to do it twice.'' He said, she was filthy and actually kind of stank a bit. ''Wash It off in the water. Then put this shit in your hair and scrub it in..'' He continued, giving her shower instructions. He thought about telling her to shave her legs and armpits, that she looked more like a yeti than a woman, but he could imagine himself having to do it for her, and that, he was bloody well not going to do. ''Got all that? There are towels there and fresh clothes and hairbrush and shit. Everything you need. I'll be back out there.'' He said turning and rolling his eyes to himself, this was a first, even for him.

Ketzu went back to his previous propped up position with a book and now a beer in hand. He briefly thought about if Mikayla was actually going to be okay, that she could survive, she couldn't even take a shower without help, how could she...? He shook his head, thinking she was not his responsibility, he would help her but after that, she was on her own.

Ketzu soon followed her inside making her take a step back away from the shower and towards the toilet to avoid him getting to close to her. Aware that she was trapped now his body blocking the door she started to feel very uncomfortable but forced herself to listen to what he was telling her.
His voice was at ease but obviously irritated in a nearly patronising way which would have normally pissed her off no end yet she paid it no mind, to exhausted and beaten to care about what he thought of her.

"Ok" she murmured looking from him to the shampoo and the soaps.
Waiting for him to leave she tentatively stepped under the water she winced as it washed away some of the dirt stinging at the many wounds and sores underneath. Hissing air through her teeth she put the pain to the back of her mind so she could focus on the energy it took just for her to stand up.

For some time she just stood allowing the water to soak her then when some of her initial dizzy reaction past she did as Ketzu had informed her and washed away all of the dirt.

Stepping out she grabbed up a towel, now this she did understand she had seen posters of women clad in them so she did as they had shown and wrappe it around her before walking back out of the bathroom, wet hair dripping in her wake.

Ketzu waited for her to finish, and she was taking a very long time. He glanced up from his book before closing it and glancing around the room. Under other circumstances he would have gone through her stuff to find out about her or where she had come from, but no, she had nothing on her person whatsoever.

He tapped his foot wondering what on earth was taking her so long, but he would give her some more time. He crossed his arms, thinking about where to go from here, did she know anyone? Could he introduce her to anyone who could her or give her a place to stay. He had decided previously not to bring her back to the manor, Hope only tolerated him because he was family, or perhaps because he was half wolf, but a full one? He doubted that would go down to well in the Death household. ''Hmmm.'' He muttered to himself, and then shook his head, why the hell was he getting stressed out about this, he wasn't her damn keeper.

He eventually stood and went to the bathroom door, ''Hey are you done? We have to make a plan.'' He said, stepping back and allowing her to come out should she choose to, ''Do you have any family that you know of? Anyone who I can find that can help you?'' He bloody well hoped she did.

Coming out of the bathroom she had not expected Ketzu to be standing right in front of her. Flinching she stepped back her eyes averting downwards in order not to hold his gaze, she felt anything but dominant in the situation. Exposed and unable to defend herself she felt at his mercy and some what afraid of him.
The fact that he seemed very impatient and demanding with his questions did not help the feeling.

Stepping around him she was very careful to act submissive towards him which would have usually been against her nature.
She was exhausted and half dead having been starved and beaten for months, pushed well beyond her means yet he wanted her to have some form of plan or answers. All she wanted to do was curl up and go to sleep possibly for the rest of her life.

Turning around with weak shuffled steps she looked at him not really knowing what he expected from her. She half thought that he would have gone by now having figured out that she would be of no use to him or probably to anyone else for that matter.

"No, noone. I don't know my family" she replied. She had spent a short amount of time with Maylin but not enough for her to assume her sister would come to her aid now.
"I have been owned since a child" she commented having spent her entire life other then a few short days being captive to cruel captors.
"I am alone" she had no idea the man she had shared a compound with had been her father Blaze. She had no idea what had happened to any of the other escapees.

Ketzu looked at Mikayla as she replied, he sighed to himself, slightly annoyed that she didn't know anyone else. It just meant that his nicer side felt like he had to help her even more than he had intended to. ''Owned..'' He said with a frown, ''Well not anymore. You are a free woman so we will need to make sure it stays that way.'' He said, moving away from her a bit to give her her space. ''Well, first go and eat and then get some sleep.'' He said moving out of the bathroom and bedroom area. ''I can go if you want to be alone?'' He said in question.

He thought about the different people he knew, who he could introduce her too. Half of them had soo much going on at the moment anyway that he couldn't really get them to help her either. Maybe he should tell Drakkar... no bad idea, he would protect her though if Ket asked, but he would also kill her at the drop of a hat. He shook his head to himself, god he needed to sleep on it. He looked to her for an answer as to whether she wanted him to stay or go.  ''We can talk about this more tomorrow if you want. And if you want revenge, it is kind of what I do, so, you know, just ask.'' He said, even if she asked him to or not, he wanted to, the state he had found her in.... the people who did that to her were worse than a lot of the immortals they hunted.

He seemed again to watch to help her not liking the fact that she said she had been owned before. It did not make much sense to her wondering why anyone would go out of their way to help a loner like her.
She moved by him heading towards where he informed her the food was.
Having a look she sat down taking a loaf of bread to eat one slice at a time. She was used to such food, often having been given scraps and just enough to keep her going for the next fight. Ox Corp had only fed her often enough to keep her from death.

Eating it slowly she tried to ignore the cramping of her stomach that had been empty for so long as it twisted painfully in response to the introduction of food.
She hadn't answered him because she did not know what she wanted. She didn't trust anyone but she knew he had helped her and she would have probably been recaptured or killed if he hadn't.
She had no idea what she was doing or how to work in the real world yet but she was afraid to be around anyone.
"I don't want to put you out" was the only real reply she could muster as she slowly chewed upon the dry bread. "More then I already have anyway"

Ketzu watched Mikayla take pieces of dry bread and eat them, he frowned with his mouth open as he watched her, how dare she defile food like that. He sighed and let her carry on as he walked to the kitchen area, grabbing a bit of this and a bit of that making her a proper sandwich packed with meat, she was beyond malnourished, he feared if he even so much as touched her again she would just break into pieces. ''Here, eat this.'' He said cringing to himself at the thought of eating just the bread. He put the sandwich on a plate and placed it in front of her. Then rummaging through the cupboards he pulled out a blender and chucked a bunch of shit in it, his hangover cure, he figured she could do with the boost. He churned it all up in the blender and paused, glancing at her, hopefully the blender didn't freak her out. Oh well. He poured it all into a tall beer glass and put it down next to the plate, ''Drink this too, tastes like shit but you will feel better in no time.'' He said with a wink before moving away from her again.

She said she didn't want to put him out, he laughed a little then, ''Oh I'm already out love.'' He said, the job he had ignored to help her would have given him a pretty penny, ''But I chose to help you, so it's no bother.'' He sat himself down and propped his feet up, with the kitchen area behind him. He switched on the TV and relaxed, it was obvious she had no bloody idea what to do with herself, ''Fuck it. Alright, here is the plan. I'll stay here with you for a few days, get you on your feet, get you some contacts. But more importantly, give you time to recover a bit.'' He leant his head back on the sofa, looking at her upside down, ''I'll sleep here don't worry. Now I will be in and out, so don't open the door to anyone, okay? No one.'' He ordered, he had a key so he would just let himself in. If he was honest with himself, he could do with a break from death manor, he wasn't on the best of terms with Knigh and he could do without the headache of that.

He handed her the sandwich and she looked at it in intimidation. She had been with Maylin to a cafe and they had eaten there but the food had been small and
pretty looking. This was a beast, the meat pouring out of the edges and the smell, oh the smell was like heaven. She stared at it for a while, she had never eaten so much in one go and she wondered whether she even could.
Growling loudly her stomach urged her to go on and she did. Taking a bite out of it she closed her eyes the sensation and the flavours over taking her in a wave delight. "Oh My God!" she mumbled into while chewing. She clearly had been missing out on a lot more then just her freedom.

He handed her a drink now and even though it looked totally disgusting she took it from him. If it was anything like the sandwich she would have no problem.
Ketzu seemed to think it would be gross but as she sipped it she was met with the same delight from before. All the flavours new to her, she had only ever been given bland food and very little of it. Anything with a strong taste had been withheld from her to give her the taste for blood in her fights.

She would have felt guilty as he sat down explaining that she had pretty much fucked things up for him but she was to involved in her sandwich to reply, only looking up at him when he started to come up with some sort of plan.
She had expected that he would either just leave or he would have expected some sort of repayment. The fact he said he would stick around was something she had not expected but so far he had helped her more then anyone else had so she nodded. Trust was something Mikayla was not ready to give, but she also knew at that moment she needed him.
"I won't.. No one" she nodded. If she knew what it was like to feel like a child she would have felt like her but her memory only ever consisted of bad ones, none of normal childhood.
"... Thanks" it was a strange word but she knew she ought to be saying it. "For helping me"

Ketzu grinned a little as Mikayla seemed to like the protein mountain of a sandwich he had made her, good, at least she could start to build herself up and no longer look like a walking skeleton, it was so bloody unattractive to say the least. Ketzu looked back at the TV and laughed at a clip shown of an idiot human trying to do a stunt and failing spectacularly, ''Fucking cretin.'' He mumbled to himself.

''Good, because I don't fancy paying out for the hotel to clean a room with a murdered wolf in it.'' He said, no thank you. He nodded at her thanks, seeing it was a difficult thing for her to say, ''Thank me by returning the favour some day.'' He said trying to take the awkwardness away. ''I have a few questions for you, the people who had you imprisoned, what was their name?'' He was 99.5% sure it was Oxen, but he needed the confirmation. ''And were there others with you?'' He asked, she may not have known and answer to either question, but it was worth a shot. If it wasn't oxen and just some psychos, he could rip them apart with ease, but Oxen were a different story, they had been growing in power for quite some time now. So much so that it Ketzu had to be extra careful when he did a job, it was a pain in the arse, but he would rather keep his arse and not get on their radar.

"I hope never to have to return the favour" she replied looking down at the sandwich as opposed to looking at him. She had lived a very hard life but at least when in her last pack she had been allowed to move around even if that meant she had been pitted against beasts larger then herself she had been able to fight and to kill, she had been able to feel emotions, she had interactions with others as heinous as they were.

Ox Corp had been different. Other then the testing she had been ignored, silence and confined for weeks on end unable to move around, unable to see or speak to another living being while her mind clawed at itself in the silence. The months with them had been the worst of her life and she had never expected anything to have been able to be worse then the life she had lived with the pack.

The thoughts creased her brow as she tried to push away the image of one of the doctors eyes, alost lifeless, totally uncaring to her crying out as he hurt her. He looked at her like an inanimate object and it was terrifying. To Ox Corp they were nothing but data and numbers.

His question forced her to look up at him with a sense that he wanted to some how avenge her. It was another frightening thought, she wouldn't be able to live with herself were the only person to have ever saved her to suffer because of her.
"They were humans. Like an army. Lots of technology I didn't understand. They never spoke to me other then to ask me questions or to tell me what to do, I don't know their names" she tried to keep it simple not wanting to cause more memories to cripple her. "There were others. I could hear them sometimes. When I escaped there were few of us but I did not see their faces, I was at the back. I fell and got washed away from them all... I don't know if they made it out"

''Well let's hope not.'' He replied with a smirk, it was unlikely he would need her help in the future, but you never knew. He was a self admitted bad ass, but even bad asses could fall. Ketzu grew bored of the screen and switched off the Tv, he never really did like sitting and watching a screen for too long, he didn't know how some people sat there for hours, it was beyond him. But eating, well he could do that all day long. He stood and grabbed himself some more food from the kitchen area, then turned to face Mikayla as she seemed lost in her own thoughts. He tilted his head as he studied her and then broke the silence by popping open a bag of crisps.

He munched on the crisps as Mikayla tried to explain to him the best she could about the people who had her. He rolled his eyes and sighed, ''yea, that is Oxen.'' He said bitterly. ''They are called the Oxen corporation, they are military yeah and their soul mission is to wipe immortals from the earth.'' He explained, figuring she might want to know who had her all this time, ''They capture us, experiment on us, kill us. They want us dead, we are a threat to them you see. And humans don't like threats or things that they cannot explain with science.'' There was a time he heard they were trying to cure them, but them was a very wide range of things, but now, it seemed they just wanted them to be extinct. ''You see, humans never change. Years ago it was burning witches at the stakes or having slaves. Now it is the extinction of the supernatural. You are lucky, you and the others, that you have escaped them alive.'' He nodded, ''Be proud.'' He said, knowing just how lucky she was to be standing here.

''Now I can tell you much more, but you should get some sleep, let your body begin to heal. I'll be right here so don't worry.'' he said before munching some more and wandering back to the couch and throwing himself down on it.

He seemed to be shoving food into his mouth non stop every time he had sat down, looking at him she wondered where it all went. She would have suspected he would have been as fat as a house but seemingly he could eat what ever he wanted and get away with it. Maybe it was a lycan or a vampire thing she didn't know, she had never had that amount of food available to her before.

He seemed to know who she was talking about when she explained and she listened to him as he put a name to the face of their organisation, they sounded just as horrible as they had been. She sighed inwardly knowing that they were so strong and so organised, it made her feel even more on edge knowing they had the resources and the power to track her down and find her probably pretty easily should they have decided they wanted to.

Chewing her sandwich she watched Ketzu as he seemed to try and sooth her about the whole thing, mentioning she should rest. She nodded finishing off her food before standing up. She ha actually never slept properly in a bed other and the thought seemed a strange one.

Standing up slow she steadied herself with her hand upon the back of the chair. Still damp from the shower she left little sprinkles of water from her hair but it did not bother her any as she offered him up a weak smile and did what he asked of her. Going through the the room he had indicated she lay down curling up within her towel she pulled the blanket over herself. Falling asleep the moment her eye lids shut out the light.

Mikayla eventually made her way to bed, Ketzu watched her walk weakly away, he hoped she would heal up quick, it wouldn't be a good idea to stay here for too long before moving on. He had tried to inform her and calm her at the same time, but the truth was that Oxen were getting stronger and stronger by the day. He placed a hand behind his head as he leant back, feet up and the other hand going to his work phone. He began to scroll through the feeds and encrypted jobs that were becoming available. He did this for a while until trying and failing to fall asleep.

-------

It was morning, and Ketzu sat leaning on the back of a chair with breakfast cooked and waiting for Mikayla to wake. He had been up all night, keeping a look out and trying to map out places and see if he could find any information out about where she could go. Why he was helping her so much, he still didn't know, but then, anything to stop him from going back to the manor and putting up with Knigh, was worthwhile. But as he though that, he had sent his father a message last night asking him to meet, maybe Knigh knew of other wolves that could help her seen as Azariel was one. It was a long shot, but it was a start. It was also the first time he had spoken a single word or acknowledged his father's existence in any way since he had been back.

The night proved to be empty her dreams coming and going in the darkness before she had chance to catch a hold of them. Pure fatigue burying her into a much deeper sleep then she would have every really allowed herself before. She had been injured many times, life threatening at some points yet she had never been hurt over such a stretch of time continually before and it had taken a lot out of her. It was a wonder that she had survived it at all. Looking as skeletal as she did.

She had slept longer then she had ever slept before but as she stirred she groaned yet even in her discomfort she did feel some what better then she had the day before.
Rolling over she found the towel had dried and stuck to her, peeling it away from her skin she grimaced and got to her feet before dressing herself as quickly as she could, leaving the room to find Ketzu once again.

Leaving the room her stomach growled at the scent of breakfast that met her. She held back her painful hunger until she had walked over to Ketzu who sat huddled over some maps. Looking down at it she joined him, though none of it made any sense to her, she had never been taught to read. everything she had learned she had taught herself.

"Morning, what are you doing?"

''Umm, I'm eating breakfast and looking at a map?'' Ketzu said a little more grumpily than he had intended, it was kind of obvious what he was doing, wasn't it? ''Hmm, anyway,'' he said coughing to clear his throat, ''How did you sleep?'' He nearly said she still looked like shit, but decided not to point out the obvious, as that didn't seem to be her thing. ''There's plenty of food to eat if you are hungry.'' He said, gesturing his head to the kitchen table.

Ketzu scanned over the map once more before folding it away and tucking in to the inner pocket of the jacket he was wearing. He looked up at Mikayla and offered her a small half smile. ''So, my plan is to go out today, leave you here of course.'' He added, to reiterate that fact that it was not safe and if she died because of stupidity, all of this helping would have been a waste of his sweet time, ''I will meet a guy and see if I can find out about any other lycans around here who could help you. That okay with you?'' He asked, meeting her gaze, ''I mean, you can survive here without like burning the place down right?'' He briefly thought that he should maybe put some post it notes over shit she shouldn't touch or something, and if she couldn't read then hell he would just have to draw shit on stuff for her to understand.

He sounded fed up of her as she spoke and she wished she had not said anything to him.
She was not a social creature and had never been shown or taught how to interact with others yet she could pick up the obvious annoyance he was showing. Did she not owe him so much for his help she probably would have said something about the way he replied to her yet she stood in silence until he asked her a question.
"I slept... well" it felt strange to be asked, even stranger to imagine that he might actually care about the answer.
"Wish I got dressed before though, the towel was stuck to me" she shrugged, not knowing that was probably an over share.

At the offer of food she walked over and grabbed herself a drink and a plate of eggs. Returning towards him she sat down putting the plate on her legs instead of the table so not to disturb Ketzu and his map reading. The last thing she wanted was for him to start moaning at her about that. But he folded it away anyway.

He spoke of his plan for the day and she nodded. It was daunting to think she would be alone knowing that the soldiers might be looking for her yet she also refused to let herself rely on anyone, even Ketzu. She would be fine, sooner or later she would have to fend for herself. It's not like she had anyone to go to.

"I'll be fine. I won't do anything" she replied. She would probably just eat and sleep anyway being far off physically fit.
"No burning"
