Escaping the lab (open)

Tate Kingston

Sirens blaring from the speakers of the facility had broken the serene calm of the night, the indiscriminate blasts of gun fire and shouting creating a disturbance at the fringe of the Oxen Corporations science laboratories. There were uniformed figures swarming through the facility doors and across the exterior of the building as they led a pursuit, accompanied by canine handlers who kept a handle on the barking beasts, searching the perimeter in the hopes of containing the escapee. As the alarms hollered into the night a cluster of high powered lights in the perimeter towers lit up the scene, flooding the landscape with enough light to ensure the smallest of inhabitants could be seen.

The smells were distracting to Tate’s senses as fresh air hit his lungs, mixed with the noxious scent of his own blood on his body and that of the people he had attacked in his senseless bid to escape the Oxen Corp facility. He would rather die in a hail of gunfire than spend time stuck in the glass walled tube of a cell he had been forced to call home. There was no way to tell how long he had been imprisoned in this laboratory let alone across the other places he had been transported since being captured at the tavern. All that came now was the instinct to survive and find somewhere far away from the stench of disinfectant, drugs and shackles. His human feet could not carry him as quickly as his wolven form but something they had pumped into him had stopped his ability to shift. He yearned to be able to shift, to gain ground on the pursuing guards but all he had was his human form to carry him. As light flooded the grounds his secrecy was revealed, his naked, scarred and bloodied form ducking and weaving to escape the bullets as they whizzed sharply past. As his feet navigated over rocks and scrub each jerking movement caused stabbing pains through his chest, shoulders and neck, his body tender from a recent surgery he had been subjected to. His chest bore a large fresh scar which displayed evidence from a vivisection by a scientist to learn more on his anatomical structure. Additionally there was a thick steel collar shackle around his neck embedded into the flesh of his neck. It was a barbaric restraint, the inner rim of the collar supporting sharp stainless steel spikes which served to not only physically restrain the wearer but prevent them from lashing out. He knew it was going to hurt but it was the least of his worries in the scheme of things. The spikes had been pushed into the flesh of his neck as he had used his body weight to pull away from the adjoining pole the guard had been holding, tearing the ball socket out of the side of the collar and giving him the small glimpse of possible freedom. There were cuts over his form where he had jumped through a glass window to get away from the Ox Corp staff, embedded shards of glass wedged like splinters.

Tate’s fingers and arms met the thick wire of the perimeter fence as a bullet grazed his side, a spray of blood spitting from just above his hip as he clenched his jaws to keep from yelling. His toes curled to grip on the wires as he climbed with urgency, the escapee so close to freedom he could have wept if not for the chaos and adrenaline in his blood. The razor wire at the top was a precarious battle to get over but the sound of the dogs getting closer spurred him to forget about the details. Tate’s hands reached the wires and he shoved them down, feeling the blade of the wire slicing his palms as he threw himself over, hitting the ground and rolling down the small embankment on the other side. He had made it outside.

****
The streets were quiet given the time though he wasn’t sure of the day let alone the time. It was his only saving grace as Tate used the dark areas to his advantage and crept hurriedly through as many small alleys and side streets as possible. A lot of the area was foreign to him however he had done his best to escape the searching Oxen Corp personnel who still canvassed the streets in a bid to capture or kill him. He had no idea of where to go and could only use the facility as a point to guide himself far away from it. Somewhere in Arcane Tate crept down the alley beside a rundown block of shops, stopping when he spotted small droplets of water dripping from a down pipe. Anyone would have simply moved past however in his desperation he scrambled over, opening his mouth to catch the water droplets, feeling the first hit his tongue like the first rains to flood a desert.

Dressed in all black, from head to toe, she kept to the alley ways and shadows. Her friends and family were safe, no longer at the mercy of the corporation. They had a safe place to go, she was even healed a bit more since...since her episode....what else could she call it?

She was glad the others had made it out and that she was able to help many get away from this place, but as long oxen was still in operation, the immortals were not safe.

Having felt out of place and drifting to be alone, even now with her pack safe, she wasn't sure if she could go back to that...being under someone's rule. Not that it had ever been bad...not with them all being friends, but She doubted the pact system would work now. She liked being able to do as she saw fit and only accountable for her actions.

If the others wished t help in their way she wouldn't stop them, but this is what she wanted...no, needed to do. She needed to help in any capacity that she could. It is how She is, healer or not, this gave het a sense of purpose, or duty. Something she needed to feel for a long time.

She was confident in her own abilities, but the weight of her swords strapped to her back, the glocks at her hips, the other blades tucked in her boots and along side her arms in their custom holders made her feel a bit more confident, out in these dark streets with th enemy.

Ducking behind a building as she heard foot steps, her golden eyes narrowed on the looming shadows that passed. Her ears perked, listening for more foot falls, not hearing then She slowly eased from the alley, her right hand easing back from the knifed hilt at her hip.

Looking to the left then right She followed the two soldier , listening in on there conversation. Soon their walkie talkies blared, the voice on team opposite end saying a code
The men came to attention and started running. Something was definitely up.

*****

Whatever the code had been activity on the streets picked up. She didn't take killing lightly but more soldiers had come and would have boxed in her in this part of town. She felt them closing in almost herding her to their base, but after about the third one she dusted, he told her what they were searching for. An escapee. Stealing his radio she used that to time their whereabouts and where they were searching.

*****
A sword plunged through the heart of the soldier killing him instantly as they both rounded the corner and spotted the male. Shoving the human aside, She frowned at him but Then her ears swivels on top her human head.

"You must be what they are searching for..."

The alarms drew his attention, and he smiled, good, they will be scrambling and in a state of disarray. He crept out of the shadows atop a building in the city, near to where the alarms were sounding. What should he find? A rooftop gunman who was aiming down, below his feet, which did not jive well with Blade, at all. He lunged forward, taking the man off his feet and falling towards the alley below with the large male right behind him. The man hit the ground with a sickening crack, made worse by a pair of large booted feet coming down directly upon his head. Blood, bone, and brain shattered, spraying the walls as though someone had smashed an over ripe watermelon. Blade stood from the stance he had taken upon landing after looking at the two who were in the alley. One was Alleria, the other was, if not familiar, then at least one whos scent he had come across before.

"Alleria." He said with a smile, and a rather feral looking one at that. "Good to see you again, whos this?" He asked, gesturing towards the other male. Looking down, he frowned slightly, brushing some bone and grey matter from the bottom hem of the shirt he was wearing, before producing his flask and taking a deep draught from it. "Anyone else?" He asked, offering it around as he was known to do.

Re: Escaping the lab (open)

With every drop of water to hit his tongue, Tate had only just begun to realise how much he had needed to drink. He had felt stomach pains for far too long to notice just how desperate he was to eat, having ignored them. His mind flashed back and forth to the luminous science laboratory, the memories immediate and fresh. He had tried to be defiant for the most part only as of late he had began to break, becoming exhausted. Tate had even refused to eat the slush that was slid into his cell until he had been dragged out and had food pumped into him via a tube shoved into his throat. For every attempt he had made, Ox Corp had an answer whether it was harmful or not. The adrenaline in his system had peaked and as levels declined his body began to become more and more aware of glass shards imbedded in his flesh and the collar spikes that wriggled in his neck with each movement made. Growing frustrated at the slowing of the water droplets Tate had begun to consider moving though it was clear that soldiers were still on the lookout, the sounds of chatter and the occasional flash of light moving past in the distance.

Steely grey eyes scanned the alley as Tate turned to put his back to the wall and listened to the sounds. He glanced down to his hands as he flexed his left hand, turning it palm up as he closed a fist and opened it again, his skin coated with sticky dried blood. His hand tremored unsteadily and he pushed his arms down as he looked up to the sky. He couldn’t remember when he had last been outside, the darkness so magical in that moment he had lost his momentum. Just as he had found a moment of blissful realisation he was detected, a figure at the end of the alley caught him completely unguarded. It was a soldier whose presence instantly filled Tate with terror which did nothing but prompt him to spring into a defensive thought pattern despite the soldier being attacked by someone behind him.

Tate could see the silver blade penetrate through the man’s chest and clothing, soon withdrawn as the man’s body fell. Behind the body stood a figure, slender enough in appearance despite being obscurely dressed from head to toe in black that Tate could determine them to be a woman. She had shoved the dead soldier in such a way that he had slumped to the side from her and whilst she stood opposed to him, Tate had lowered in his stance, arms raising as his fingers curled into fists. He was much less toned since being captured, he had lost enough weight that his ribs could be seen to strain against his skin but nothing had killed his fighting spirit. There was no way in hell he would go down without a fight. His eyes searched over the woman’s form, his most useful sense given none of his abilities worked under the suppression of whatever drug was in his system. She stood with a Radio in her custody and though she possessed a set of ears which were obviously not homo sapien the radio gave Tate the impression that she was not at all on his side. She mentioned he was the target being pursued and he gave no answer, instead clenching his fists in preparedness to escape.

The impact of the body further behind the woman made Tate jump and take a few steps back, the added sound of boots jamming into the mans skull as an additional figure jumped to the ground not adding any benefit to the situation as Tate searched for alternative escape routes. There was no way he could use his nose to pick up on scents but his eyes did not betray him, recognising the face of the guy who approached them. He had been at the Rusty Inn Tavern that day, the one who had told the occupants fighting to take it outside. Was he in on that whole ordeal? There was no way to be sure and when he identified the woman he walked up besides as ‘Alleria’ Tate automatically saw them both to be related to the corporation. The way the guy presented himself to be so casual only caused Tate more discomfort, finding it extremely odd to be offered a drink of all things in the situation at present.

“No closer’ Tate finally snapped, his fingers clenched as he kept his eyes squarely upon the two and edged a little closer towards them. He couldn’t risk fleeing away from them as he had no idea if the alley ran into a dead end or not. The down side was that the two individuals were in between him and a definite exit. He was ready to fight but moved slowly with caution as he moved closer towards the individuals, towards the end of the alleyway.

Kara Rae

The late day had a chill to it as she walked casually down the sidewalk. She found it best to appear as human as possible when she traveled main streets, no one paid her much mind as she passed. Her dress was causal, dark wash jeans tucked into knee high boots and a grey hoodie covered her body and a black baseball cap pulled over her crown. She wore dark glasses that covered her crimson eyes which were a dead give away to her non human identity.

The click of a radio walkie talkie to the right caught her attention, ears twitching as she honed in on the solder standing on the corner. *Escaped shifter, all units report.* Brows raised as Kara quickly turned the next corner to enter an alley. Looking up she decided on a higher vantage point to try to locate this escaped shifter before the solders did. A fire escape was just to the right of her, moving quickly as she jumped to catch the last bar the to ladder. Swiftly she climbed to the roof top, looking around in a circle wondering which direction to go toward. She had never been in the lab but it was well known which side of town it lay one, looking in the distance she inhaled deeply to catch a scent.

The wind worked in her favor as it gusted past her, hair bellowing around her shoulders in a wild array of red. Instantly the scent of wolven blood hit her nostrils and pointed her in the right area. It was strong so the wolf was close. Taking off in a sprint she ran across the roof tops at an inhuman pace. She thought that taking the higher route would keep her hidden but she was wrong. The click of the load caught her ears just a second before the shot rang. Wide red eyes turned to face the rooftop sniper that lay just two buildings over. Moving just to the right she dodged the fatal head shot, only to move again to dodge another shot. The third shot wasn't as accurate and her move faltered, causing the round to plant firmly in her shoulder above her collar bone on the right side. A scream of pain came involuntarily as eyes glowed red and her movements stopped to face the sniper. Blood began to soak her clothes and run down her body but she paid it little mind. Rage filler her as she moved toward him, more shots rang but were stopped by a black wall that appeared around her and absorbed the impact.

She shifted forms as anger turned deep in her stomach, racing at the solder so she was upon him two buildings over within seconds. In one swift move she ripped out the throat first, then dove fangs first in to his face, When she was done with her wolven tantrum there was nothing left recognizable from the shoulders up. Turning back in the direction she was heading originally, Kara bound off four legged toward her target.

It was mere minutes at the break neck pace she was traveling that she came across the smell of fresh blood, leading down an alley way off the main street. She was also greeted by the familiar scent of Blade and Alleria as she dropped from the roof top to the littered pavement. The white in her muzzle was completely dyed red, matching the rest of the fur on her small wolven form. Silently she moved in-between Alleria and Blade making sure to gently sweep against both of their legs in greeting before stepping just a bit further as she eyed the shifter. A memory of meeting him and another male back in the pack lands came flooding back, whining softly as she tried to show the male she wasn't a threat.

Her form shifted from wolf to human in one quick fluid movement, the shadows moving instantly to make up her clothes as she stood on two legs. Looking back at both Alleria and Blade she frowned softly. "I can feel the pain and fear. We have to calm him down before we can safely talk." Turning to look at Alleria "and he looks pretty banged up, can you fix him?" she asked, knowing she was one of the most experienced healers shes met. Turning her attention back toward Tate she kept the smile on her face but her eyes still glowed a bright red as power surged through her. "Hey, we met before...you need help and we can do that but you have to calm down.." she offered, taking in his distressed state. With her right hand extended, palm up, waves of calm and peace flowed towards Tate as she also pulled the feelings of pain to ease his discomfort. "We just want to help..."

Aleria didn't take her eyes off the male. A time, long, long ago she would have been terrified to be this close to unknown male. Having a father as she did...males were viscous, and untrust worthy. But she had grown and learned that not everyone was like that. Although She had outgrown her childish fear, she didn't underestimate him.

Needing to deescalate the situation, she stopped where she was not advancing. .......

Her hand gripped the handle firmly, her body turning minesculey to strike the person coming from behind, but within a nano second blades energy registered and moments later so did Karas. Relaxing, if only from stopping her attack, she sent some of her energy down her blade, to cleanse her blade of the humans filth that coated its long length. Slowly she reached behind her and sheathed her sword.

She didn't partake in blades offer, drinking not really her thing. She softened her features to try to look less threatening.

She listened to Kara and frowned as she smelt blood on her. The moment taking her eyes off the male to look to see if she alright and to look for the source of the blood. Her shoulder.... Frowning more, She did not like the others had come to the city. They had be
en safe...

"I can help him...but only if He let's me...and it doesn't look as if he's willing..."

The radio static interrupted the moment. Her golden gaze swung back to the male. "We are not here to harm you. Only to help, but more soldiers are coming...we need to go." they did bit have time to fight one another but if he so chose, she she supposed She could knock him out...being a healer She knew all th. Point in The body. Hitting the right ones he'd be out like a light.

B E N J A M I N . N E K I S H U
f a t h e r || a l p h a || e l e m e n t a l

"Destruction is a form of creation."

The streets of Arcane were teeming with Corporation Soldiers. Most of which were under cover, dressed in civilian clothing. Men and women alike making it difficult to decipher mundane humans from the monsters of Oxen Corporation.
A wet tongue passed gingerly over lips that had gone dry in anticipation and a breath was drawn in. Scents scattered along the tongue sparking pictures and memories inside the mind. A bakery down the street had freshly that made bread filled his mouth full with saliva.
The dry cleaner who's balcony he now stood on, using the cover of shadow to hide his form, had just pressed a suit, he could sense the heat from the machine and smell the damp of moisture; but what caught his attention was the smell of steel and the rancid metallic stench of gunpowder. Fresh gunpowder.
His eyes opened to reveal emerald eyes hidden beneath, just as a golden glow encircled the pupil.
He felt the energy surge within muscles made wiry since his time in shackles. When he moved, they could be seen moving like vines under his skin; though, he had been training with Blade to return to his former self and managed to gain somewhat of his girth back.
Alleria had implored him to stay put, but Blaze was stubborn and when did he ever do what he was told? Benjamin had been inside those Corporation walls, he had lived through the pain and he would be damned if he'd just sit around and allow others to go through that.
He put the sun glasses that Kara had given him on his nose and pushed them up with his fore finger, concealing the magic revealed in his eyes before slipping back into the darkness. He was hidden well there having donned Blades attire and had to admit, although he felt ridiculous in the long coat and boots, they were ridiculously comfortable and despite the bulky looking size, lithely moveable.
He used the fire escape to climb down to the path below, he'd have jumped for the speed it served but it would draw too much attention from the people below and disappeared into the darkness of an alley way.
Once concealed and hidden from the view behind a large skip bin Benjamin ran up the side of a building using the uneven bricks for traction and vaulted over the fence, narrowly escaping he clutches of barbed wire. Bending his knees upon landing he sprung into a sprint and followed the stench of a newly fired weapon through the maze of alley ways between the buildings.
Raising his nose to the air, lips ajar, he breathed in once more. This time instantly recognising the scent of Kara. Craning his neck, he looked upward. She was above him.
Pink lips pulled back and a soft growl escaped his mouth as he halted and crouched, eyeing any and all possibilities of ascension to the rooftops; but as his eyes scanned over a closed fire escape he saw the clash of Crimson hair as she leapt across the gap of buildings.
Wasting no time, Blaze sprinted after her on the ground. His feet slid across the stones as he rounded a corner, hand palming the floor for better purchase and not to lose momentum. That's when they came into sight.
Two men dressed plainly in suits, seemingly business men; but since when did business men carry such big guns?
The two men turned to see him and instead of advancing, Benjamin paused a moment, crouched at the ground and surveyed they area.
A body fell from the roof about twenty yards away with a sickening crunch and Blaze only guessed it had been Kara. It was far too far away for the top soldiers to hear and they began advancing on him with obvious caution, though he could tell by the way they moved that they were trying hard to conceal their nerves.
Benjamin took a deep breath into large lungs and forced it outward allowing a snarl to tear through the air as he began towards the two men in a run.
He noticed a figure dressed in black descend quickly from the same rooftop as the dead man and instantly recognised its physique. Blade. He smiled inwardly and jumped at the wall using it as leverage to launch towards the first man and drove his shoulder into the centre of his chest narrowly evading two single gun shots. He was instantly rewarded with a loud crack as the sternum broke.
The two fell backwards and the soldier instinctively through his hands back. Benjamin seized the moment and wrapped fingers around the weapon and in one fluid movement, used his free hand to manoeuvre his body into a roll, spun on his knees and pulled the trigger.
A spray of bullets showered the area and the remaining soldier convulsed as he was caught in the line. He dropped to his knees, gun still in hand before falling to the ground face first.
Benjamin stood, eyes scanning over the weapon in his hands.
He'd never held a gun before nor had he ever taken any interest in them. He sighed, pointing the gun at the winded soldier. The man was clearly unconscious and his breathing was raspy and shallow. He pursed his lips. He'd have killed him but thought better of it, instead they could use him for questioning. He threw the weapon to the side and he turned to face the small group that had gathered.
Alleria, Blade and Kara were standing opposite him, but it was the male in the centre of them all that gathered his attention. He was battered and bruised, his body a mirror of that when Benjamin had escaped and he knew exactly where he had been. Though he couldn't see the front of the male, he was sure there was more wounds.
Finally, Benjamin took a deep breath. The males scent filled his senses and he raised his brows.
He remembered the first time he'd met the guy. It was only briefly, but he's saved his life and vowed never to forget him.
A time when Orchid had exiled the former Alpha Male. He'd been searching for the mountain goat atop the cliffs when the bear had attacked him.
The male looked tense. He obviously didn't know the other wolves, either that or they had pumped the same delirious drugs into him as they had into Blaze. Then it occurred to him, of course he was tense - they had boxed him in.
Instinctively he took a step backward, raised his hands, fingers unfurling cautiously to show he meant no harm and his brows came together as he tried to recall the mans name. Trent? No. He shook his head, annoyed at himself.
Trav... He didn't even finish thinking the name before another presented itself. Finally, after a long moment of silence, he could only hope his memory served him right, "Tate..?"

"speech."
Thoughts.

Re: Escaping the lab (open)

A wolf emerged between the two individuals, it’s stride and appearance somewhat familiar. It eased him slightly to see the animal there, it was one assured thing that had been presented which Tate knew had no connection to Oxen Corporation. But as he had felt relief, Alleria had turned on her stance, the blade of her sword slicing through the air as Tate let out a shout of warning to the animal. It would have been useless given the rapid movement of Alleria with her blade, Tate’s chest rapidly rising and falling as he watched the cold metal stop millimeters from the tips of the wolves fur. His heart felt like it was close to pushing through the wall of his chest and he stepped back once more, his back against the wall in the easiest form of defense.

Tate’s brow rose in subtle response as the wolf slipped past the two individuals and morphed. Shadows slid over her form to solidify into textured clothing, the red headed woman before him suddenly so much more familiar.

Evergreen Park : Muchani City: 14+ Months earlier.

The band slammed out a few solid rock songs, changing things up with some punk numbers and the crowds had responded with loud cheers. He had paused to grab a fresh cup of beer before he walked back across the park, deciding to join one of the women who had taken a seat on her own. He had taken a moment on his approach to eye over her, taking in the detail of her figure and noting the necklace she wore. There were only a few reasons as to why someone would wear a ring on a chain.

"ey." He had greeted her.  He stood beside the table as he looked to where she had been looking, wondering what had her staring so hard though he hardly thought it could be any sight rather than plagued thoughts. Her disappointed eyes were looked down to the bottom of her cup, a slight frown formed upon her lips.

With the music thumping in the background, people talking in all directions, and the distraction of her own thoughts she had not heard Tate approach. It hadn’t until he was next to her that she turned to look at him, a slightly startled look in her glassy eyes. A smile formed on her lips as he greeted her though it could not hide her reaction of being startled. "Hello," her voice soft and gentle as she had greeted him. She had turned her body on the edge of the table to face him, "Great party huh?" she had replied.

He had been standing as though he couldn’t have had a care in the world, though he had straightened as he noted her change in direction. He had remained standing for the moment as his drank in her features. He had breathed in the sweet scent of honey, such a sweet feminine contrast to his own aroma. The striking colour of her hair matched her eyes which he figured if she hadn’t been so deeply enmeshed in what seemed to have troubled her. He was sure she hadn’t cried though he would never ask.

He offered her his cup upon realising her own was empty.
“Something tells me that’s a strained effort for conversation. You’re hardly in the party yourself after all” He had replied. “I’ve never been to a gig where all the action happens in the opposite direction of the actual party goers.” For a moment he had considered leaving her to her own devices but then again, when had he ever considered boundaries.

“So who is the chick with a gorgeous smile and her head completely elsewhere?” he had asked with a smile

Present Day: Arcane City

Her voice broke him from the memory, the request to calm down not so rejectable coming from someone he remembered. She had never showed him an inch of anger, not even when she had later stumbled upon his new mate Luric and himself out at the hot springs in Kostas wolf pack territory. Tate had remembered her face, completely lost with thought and expressions which had showed some of her vulnerability at the time. But she knew the other two individuals and that brought more questions to the forefront of his brain. Maybe they weren’t Ox Corp. Maybe she was as well? Kara was also sporting a decent wound though Tate had not paid attention in the moment of confusion.

He would have grown in a panic had it not been for her ability to relieve his level of distress for the moment, a brief glimpse of logical thought running across mind as the radio alerted more reports. He was losing his window of escape and soon it would be lights out for good. The first woman, Alleria; as he had become aware showed obvious signs of preparedness. Other than sporting the radio she possessed two swords, the hilt of them visible just beyond her shoulders and what appeared to be handguns in holsters strapped to her hips. Her clothing was designed in such a way that she could obviously move with freedom while sporting such holsters and straps to secure weapons. They were visible and Tate had not at all missed the glint of light caught on one of the blades tucked along her arm. He had watched her take out the soldier and he had figured with her side arms that should she have wanted to kill him like his pursuers, she would have easily slipped the glock from her holster. The other man known only as the guy from the Rusty Inn still stood beside the others though dressed in a shirt and pants he did not seem to be carrying physical weapons. Given the fact that Kara was a wolf shifter and Alleria was sporting two animal ears he assumed the guy may be immortal though there was nothing else to confirm his suspicions.

As he thought through the idea of attacking or fleeing with the group, more gunshots rang out into the night. The sound was not unusual to Tate given the places he had been raised in and where he had lived however in his state it brought more instability. Each shot that rang out prompted him to flinch uncontrollably and he lost sight on where each person was. Instead his gaze shifted down to his own body, eyes scanning over his naked and bloodied form as he tried to force his energy to shift. As he tried to concentrate and shift, Tate’s expression contorted as a sharp pain blistered in his temporal lobe, feelings of nauseousness and vertigo increasing the more he tried until his knees began to buckle.

It took a moment to regain control of himself as the shooting pain in his temple thumped like a migraine, Tate barely managing to push himself up to stand as his jaw dropped open to suck air into his lungs. His head was cloudy and his brows furrowed as yet another voice broke through the air of the alleyway. The male’s voice struck a chord with Tate and he fought the oncoming blur as he looked over to see Ben Nekishu opposite with hands up and palms exposed towards him. As Tate’s head pounded and Blaze spoke his name, Tate looked between the figures around him almost in a daze.

“This isn’t Rockford or Muchani..Where am I?” Tate muttered as he felt the shroud of exhaustion becoming more threatening with each breathe. Finally dropping his hands he gave into the idea of going with the group, hoping in the back of his mind that what he was doing was not going to get him buried six foot under.

A bullet ricocheting off a wall knocked debris loose, raining it down on the group, and that irritated him. With a flick of his wrist, shadows seethed and surged, raising themselves and building into what looked to be a black, impenetrable wall. Though, instead of being a solid wall as it looked, it was a simple distortion of reality within the shadows. If something were to be thrown, or shot, into the shadows from outside the bubble they stood in, it would fly out the other side at the same rate, as though passing through a shadow, but without physically traveling the intervening distance. He was, though, aware of what was going on both inside and outside the small bubble of warped reality.

"As best I can tell, the locals call this city 'Arcane', and it looks like you have definitely had a run in with the bastards who are in control here." Blade replied, looking down at the corpse lying at his feet, and gave it a good hard kick, the sound of crunching ribs brought a smile to his face. He looked over to Blaze, and going off what Kara had said, took a step back away from the man, Tate, as Blaze had said, giving him more room to breath. "And, it would seem, these guys are none too happy about the fact that you are walking around out here." He took another long swig from his flask before replacing it inside of his jacket. It was rather similar to the one that had been given to Blaze, but the ends were tasseled to break up the outline of his body as he moved and walked. "Looks like the clothes are working well enough for you." He smiled to the male.

Kara Rae

Alleria's words rang truth to the situation, they couldn't stick around here forever, it wouldn't be long before the task force showed up and even with the group of them she knew they came heavily armed. "Yea we cant hang out long." she agreed quietly, her attention staying focused on Tate. She worried that they wouldn't be able to get him to cooperate before they were outnumbered, but she wouldn't leave him to his own defenses.

Movement across the alley way caught her attention as she pulled for the shadows, planning to silence what she assumed was a soldier before he could startle the male before her. The scent that accompanied the form his her senses and stopped her attack short, the shadows silently slipping back as if they had never been there as crimson eyes looked up to see Blaze. She smiled softly but only briefly as Tate took her attention again, recognition showing on his face.

Ears twitched as she heard boots upon pavement and the click and static of walkie talkies approaching. They were still a ways away but their time was becoming shorter, if he didn't start cooperating soon they were going to have to get him to safety by force. The blood now soaked her new outfit as it ran down her body, though it was barely visible with the dark shade of her clothes. Slowly it was beginning to throb as it tried to clot, but the bullet was lodged deep and the hole from the Volcan 20mm was larger then she realized. She heard Blaze say the name of the male before her, glad there was another hopefully, familiar face.

Tates question caused a frown and a slight shake of her head. "No, were far from. But we can get you somewhere safe for the time being." she offered, adding to what Blade said. A sigh of relief blew past her lips as Tate seemed to resign himself, her hand fell back to her side as her form relaxed but only slightly. The sounds of soldiers approaching was getting louder and by the sound of it, they dispatched a large troop. "We really need to get going." she said aloud what they all knew, slowly walking closer to Tate and offering her hand to him with an encouraging smile. "Lets get you out of here and fixed up, okay?"

Re: Escaping the lab (open)

This is a collaborative post between Blaze and Alleria, working together to create a single post was the fastest and most efficient in the circumstances.

It came as a shock but also a relief as Tate recognized Blaze. In his weakened state Alleria should have possibly overpowerd him and knocked him out but then he would be dead weight and their slim window of escaping would have been even smaller, she thought; but Blaze had thought differently. The thought hadn't occurred to him, though it would have been a clever one had Tate not succumb to their forced help.
The soldiers had stopped communicating, making the walkies almost useless. It was apparent he men were almost upon them due to the sounds of the bullet and he spray of cement. If they were that close, then they could see them. Blazes human ears twitched in both aggravation and anticipation and as Tate had now visually calmed, his hand fell by his sides and his stance took on a different posture just as Blade raised dark walls to conceal them - a good plan.
As everyone agreed it was time to go, Alleria relied on her pack to work together as of old not needing to use words. She came up with a strategy - Blaze would lead giving them a way out. Aleria and Kara would help Tate move, And Blade would bring up the rear, stopping all attacks from behind and giving cover as she gave Tate strength to keep moving.
Meanwhile Benjamin eyes scanned the group for half a second, calculating a different route of escape.
It looked as if Tate had calmed down and She approached with her hands out But at a pace that she meant it was time to go. Seeing him try to shift She sucked in a breath knowing it would hurt. "It may be best to wait until that's removed. If it's okay with you, I am going to touch your arm and assist so we can we move out."
"Alley, wait a moment." Blaze implored, a hand raising in her direction while his gaze turned to Blade. "Blade," He said rather loudly to gain the males attention, he waited for no response "Can you make a portal and get Tate and Kara out of here?" He pointed at both Tate and Kara, surmising their wounds in his head. Tate would be weak and unable of any immortal power, he would not be able to shift nor heal; this was known to him. He would be slow on his feet and Kara was wounded badly, he could smell it though she hid it well and he knew she would protest. He met her eyes with intent, warning that the plan would go ahead whether or not she contested it.
"A small one;" he reiterated, he wasn't sure if Tate had travelled this way before and Blaze remembered the nauseousness and then the sight of his breakfast in the floor, he doubted Tate needed that. "Remain in the city, in close range. Alleria and I will defer the soldiers to a different location. We will find you." He gazed at Alleria, making sure she agreed with his plan before he moved.

The identification given as to their location was a tough pill to swallow for Tate as he considered the idea that he had ended up somewhere far from what he had knowledge of. Lack of information on his surroundings brought more logical conclusions that Tate was going to have to be reliant upon the help of these individuals despite any feeling of caution and threat if he had any intention of making it out of Arcane alive. He was exhausted and he was hurting more than he cared to admit even to himself; a continually lengthening checklist of reasons to simply go with the plans posed to him. His eyes continually darted about as he listened to what was being said, his want to haul ass and throw up ever present in the back of his mind.

As Kara approached him Tate hesitantly stepped forward, the dark patch on her clothes clearer as she neared him and he watched her reach out to him as though he had double thought the situation. It was the same circumstance as Alleria headed over, asking if it was okay for her to touch his arm.

His eyes seemed to stare them off with underlying defiance. “Don’t touch me...let’s just move,” Tate replied to both gestures and request in a defensive and warning tone. He hadn’t felt a kind hand in months, it had been nothing but restraint or punishment and though they seemed kind he could not suppress the need to be left untouched. He didn’t take the offered hands but in great contrast to his initial offensive stance, Tate stepped over between Kara and Alleria as he readied himself to escape with the group. At this point he was void of conversation, the threat of blacking out or being killed taking more priority than discussing anything including their situation.

The sounds of debris hitting the ground and bullets ricocheting sent his muscles twinging and flinching as his shoulders hunched and head lowered sightly, aware of the oncoming threat as Blaze halted the plan and changed strategy. He had not asked anyone to go out of their way but in his state there was no point to argue the toss. If they wanted to draw gunfire away Tate saw no reason to argue or feel guilt if they should cop a shot in the guts. Instead he looked towards blade with the expectation of getting somewhere safe. He had the ability to move through shadow though after trying to perform a simple shift had created such pain in his body without positive result he figured he had no chance in moving alone. If blade was unable to provide a way out Tate was ready to go whether anyone else was beside him or not.

(sorry for shortness and if that didn’t make sense, my head is in the middle of marketing work)

Blade's ears ticked at Blaze addressing him, and nodded in confirmation to the request, pausing for a moment to thin of a place, before producing a dagger and a bag of small black gems. He began to scratch out the design on the wall, slightly different from the one he had used a few days prior to traverse the dimensional barriers to Castle Blackthorne. There were near infinite variations of the design for different transportation purposes, each one having slightly different properties, and taking you different places, and dimensions. The one he used now was intended to take them to a place in this dimension, in this town. He knew exactly where he would take them to, and, in short order, the wall wavered before fading to show the inside of a room. The room contained two beds, a couple chairs, and a lit hearth.

Turning to look at the group of them, "All ashore going ashore." He said wryly, quoting a rather cheesy line he had picked up a few decades ago. "You might feel a slight, tingle in the tips of your hair as you go through this one." He said, as a heads up to Tate, and a warning to Kara, who, though she had moved this way before, this was, again, a different variation of the portal. As the sounds of the soldiers got closer, the gems glittered darkly where they stuck, seemingly defying gravity, to the wall where he had placed them.

Looking at Blaze, he said one simple sentence, "Look for us where the drink flows."

Kara Rae

Kara nodded softly as Tate ordered them to not touch him, moving to stand close in case he would require her assistance or protection. The team moved like a well versed pack as they all moved to formation with a plan that was both unspoken and understood. She was ready to get out of here, now getting anxious that they were going to be surrounded if they didn't hurry. Ears twitched as her head turned toward Blaze as he rang out to both Alleria and Blade. Crimson eyes glowed softly as her jaw clenched at hearing Blaze's request, looking between Blaze and Tate.

"No!" she instantly protested, eyes settling on Blaze, turning her body to face him as she prepared to stand her ground. Her mouth opened to continue to contest Blaze's plan but her words came short, the look on his face was absolute and she didn't have the fight in her nor did they have the time. She gave him one last look that clearly said this wasn't over before she turned from him and looked at Tate. "Lets get going." she said, her words short as she held her arm out towards Blade in a gesture for Tate to go toward the portal. She followed closely and made sure to keep from making contact, not wanting to add any more stress to his already fragile state.

She nodded to the last of Blaze's plan, looking back at Alleria and Blaze. "Be careful...you guys better come back." she offered, giving them a soft and fleeting smile before turning away. Every fiber in her body urged her to stay with them, they shouldn't separate but she didn't put up any argument before stepping through the portal after Tate.

Once on the other side stood in the middle of the small room, waiting for Blade to follow through and close the portal. She was annoyed that they had separated but the blank look on her face didn't show it. Turning her attention to Tate she offered him a soft smile. "Now that were safe, can we get a look at you? I'm no healer like Alleria but I can help patch and clean you up until she gets here?" she asked, knowing he didnt want to be touched but also knowing he couldnt remain in the shape he was in.

Aleria didn't question further. They needed a plan and here it was. Time to get moving Before the party arrived. Aleria stopped her advancement towards Tate as blaze spiked aloud his plan. She gave a small incline of her chin in agreement.

Aleria didn't like using her guns but blade needed time to sketch the portal. Thus moving away from Tate and Kara. She hated sending them off, they both needed her But at this moment there wasn't time for all of them to go through. She pumped a few rounds at the soldiers up ahead stalling their advancements. Karas shout of protest sending a sharp pain through her chest. She aimed and fired again, the clip emptying. Ducking, she turned to watch Tate and Kara. Catching Karas eye she vowed they would returned. She would bring blaze back to her.

Hey all, we are waiting on Blaze but im making an executive decision to do a time skip here. Blazers will soon be following dreams and travelling the world around us so I dont want to burden her on having to post anymore. Please skip forward and we will write as though Blaze has exited the scene to draw fire away as the others flee.

Cheers, KC.

Traveling through a portal on any other given day would have had less of an impact upon his physical form but as Tate and Kara stepped through the void and came rushing through to the other side his knees gave way. He stumbled across the room as he felt the skin on his neck and back prickle and pale with coldness as his knees hit the ground and he hunched over himself, feeling the coat of saliva in his mouth as he heaved, deteriorated and strained muscles squeezing as he wretched. A small pool of stomach acid and few precious drops of water he had managed to find amid his escape splattered across the floor beneath him and for a moment he remained as he waited through the spell of nausea that inflicted itself upon him. Kara had come through the veil with him, though it took a further minute for either of them to speak. Tate used the flat of his palms to push himself across the floor, crawling the last few steps to one of the beds and pulling his naked form onto the soft spread of sheets and blanket. Fingertips touched the soft blanket as his legs finally felt the release of carrying his weight, the first item of comfort he had not had in months. It was almost enough to drag a tear from his eyes only Kara had caught his attention with the suggestion of looking him over.

“no...your hurt,” he answered her in a hoarse voice as he pointed out her obvious wound. He couldn’t fathom the acceptance of having someone touching him in any way and figured with her focusing on him it would be neglecting her own situation. His mind drank in the setting they had arrived in, the obvious claustrophobic feel of being stuck indoors ever present though it was much darker than the cells and he could physically feel the welcoming heat from a small established fire as though they were expected. The resounding silence and absence of gunfire hit him next, finally some sort of comforting indication that he was out of immediate danger at least of being killed or hauled back to ox corp. Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted he felt the slow waves of blackening ripple through his head, his eyelids drooping. Tate had barely lent back as he lost consciousness, his torso and head landing on the bed with a soft thud as his legs lifted from the floor slightly, his breath shallow yet steady.

(sorry its short, also feel free to time skip if needed)

"Just order the shadows to drop when you're ready to move."  Blade told Alleria and Blaze, before himself stepping through the portal.  They were able to witness the portal silently snap shut, and the gems turn to dust before them.  Turning to look at Kara and Tate, "You guys definitely need some rest, and some patching up."  He was interrupted by the sound of Tate thudding into the mattress.  "Well, he seems comfortable."  Blade laughs slightly, before looking back to Kara.  "Get yourself patched up and some rest, I'll go scare us up some food."  He waited for her to acknowledge him, before he made his way out the door.

They made good progress. As the others disappeared within the portal Blade had made, the soldier’s confusion at only seeing two was quickly replaced as an order for them to capture Aleria and Blaze was called out.

Knowing that all of them were safe from the soldiers, she and Blaze led them on a merry chase leading them farther away. She stayed close on Blazes tail as they dodged the occasional bullet and tranqs. With her mind off the others now, she could focus on their task.

As time passed, it became apparent that they would have to split up as more and more soldiers joined the fray. She did not want to leave Blaze, having only just found him and the others, but he wasn’t he wasn’t given her much of an option. Always the leader and always looking out for his pack he urged her to go, promising he’d be right behind her. With a heavy heart, she did as he asked, there wasn’t time to argue with him further, the gap between them and the men was closing fast, and they would soon be overwhelmed. They embraced tightly, that of love for a friendship that had been forged years ago. With a long look they finally turned from one another and split up, thus dividing the group of soldiers even more. As she ran, she turned to look back but all she could see was a group of men closing in, Blaze nowhere to be seen.

Hours Later: 11:59 PM

Giving them the slip, she made her way to the place Blade told her and Blaze he and the others would be. Pressing her back again one of the buildings, she leaned her head back and breathed trying to calm her heart that was beating sporadically in her chest. This was the only moment she gave herself to rest. She was sweaty, dirty, and had multiple scrapes and bruises forming. She ran her hands over her stomach and sides checking for injuries, but nothing major. She hadn’t come across Blaze’s scent, but that didn’t necessarily mean anything. He could have got there before her…yes that was it.

Running her hands through her hair, she peeled herself from the building and discreetly made her way to the others. Getting closer she could smell their scent and one she could only assume was Tate. She reached out with her gift, making sure it was only the three of them. Satisfied, she called out a warning/greeting that she was coming, a call that the pack would know.

She spotted Blade, coming towards her. She smiled at seeing him, her eyes looking behind to see if Blaze and Kara followed. Her eyes drifted back to Blade, his look said it all. Blaze wasn’t here. He gripped her arm in reassurance. Blaze would make sure they were all safe before he returned, it was close to morning perhaps he had to rest. She felt a bit better as Blade tried to reassure, Kara; however, was a different manor. Aleria had promised she’d bring him back, and it looked as if Aleria failed on her promise for she didn’t see Kara. Blade shook his head, but smiled to her, glad that she was back now. He told her of Tate and his condition, nodding she found a cloth to wipe the sweat from her brow. He insisted she rest, but she shook her head. It would be best now that he was passed out, it would be better for the both of them. Him, for he wouldn’t register the pain and she because she remembered the look he gave her and figured it would be awkward. He probably wouldn’t even let her in the same room as him. She patted Blade’s arm in reassurance as he led her to where Tate was. “thank you, Blade. I will take it from here.” He nodded solemnly but left in what she could only guess, he would be watching to see if any soldiers came their way.

Once Blade left, it was only her and Tate. She looked over to where he lies. Out in the alley she hadn’t much paid attention to his nudity as it was an intense moment. Now, her cheeks turned crimson and she averted her eyes, sweeping the room for.. ah. She picked up the parcel of cloth and tentatively drapped it over his hips. It wasn’t quiet wide or long enough but it helped. She could see the metal spikes around his neck, but before she began she looked him over to make sure nothing else needed her attention, keeping her eyes from traveling over his…extremities, trying to give him his privacy as much as she was able.

Normally before she healed someone, they knew what was about to happen and gave her their permission. Tate, in this moment, did not have the ability to give her his, so she would respect him/his body as much as healing him would allow. That would mean not ogling his body. She silently apologized to Keyue for seeing another male’s penis, but what could she do? It was there; she was an adult and could be appreciative. Not that she had much experience in that department. She had not seen her mate since before Kostas was infiltrated; he had left without a word many, many months before. His departure was one of the biggest results of her downfall and confusion. Thinking of Keyue brought the hurt to the surface, her eyes pricked with tears. Herself worth was cut to the quick with his leaving. Did he think she couldn’t handle the fact that he had a son or did he just no longer wish to be with her? Her experience with dating was next to nothing and males confused her greatly. Had she done or not done something for him to leave? Shaking her head, she couldn’t allow herself to think about it, him or the reasons why he might have left without a word. She needed a clear head and to be calm.

With a soft sigh, she settled next to Tate’s head, finding no other wounds that needed her immediate attention. He had scrapes and bruises, but the spikes posed the biggest threat. Rotating her shoulders to calm herself she gingerly touched his skin were the spikes were embedded. Warmth would seep into his body as she connected him. She projected safety and warmth to him. All would be well. The spikes were close to his nerve system and spine but not quite touching. It was a good sign but she would have to take the spikes out one at a time..

She opened her eyes, still connected to him to monitor his vitals. She had no tools, so her energy would have to suffice. The safest way, she used her energy like a laser and cut the metal between spikes that connected them. She was careful not to cut or burn him, so the process took a bit longer. Once all of the spikes where no longer linked to form a collar she set about removing them. Slowly, too fast and his vitals would spike, too slow would just be too painful. As soon as the spike was removed, she quickly set to healing the individual wounds.

She worked none stop, remove spike, wipe blood, clot, heal, keep steady check on vitals and awareness, repeat. She tried to barely touch him, but at some points she had to, to reposition his body to get to the next spike. She took the pain upon herself so he could rest as much as possible.

By the time she finished, she was panting softly, she cramps in her fingers and hands. She slowly withdrew from him, he would be in minimal pain. He had red streaks across his neck where she tried to wipe the blood from him skin. Her own throat ached where she had taken the pain from him, the phantom aches would soon disperse. Her own fingers where coated in his blood. The chunks of the spikes were in a pile on the floor. She was exhausted.
