Humanity & Me (Tag: Veita).

Post by Cayden Nekishu on Tue 24 Jan 2017, 23:24

Arcane, what a name for a City. It was as gothic sounding as any murderous part of the country and surrounding them, Cayden was almost paranoid in his feeling that the inhabitants of such a place were equally as threatening. It didn’t show as both he and Veita moved through the street’s within their human forms, Cayden’s open hooded jacket exposing his chest to the cool wind though it was the 20th century, who the hell honestly cared about a slightly ‘different’ attire; someone who may have noticed he wore no shoes to boot. His clothing in this form allowed for ease of movement, kicking and throwing punches, that sort of thing, it fit his wild nature and especially given this form it usually came with the expectation of a fight. His hood was up, covering most of his face where his scraggly red hair hadn’t come down in front of his eyes; glancing to Veita he took comfort in seeing her there beside him, not really feeling as normal as she did in these sort of situations.

The once typical law enforcement that Cayden was used to, seemed to be completely irrelevant in a place such as this. Instead of police officers, they were mostly military soldiers. Here you didn’t have a chance to argue your point of view across, if you crossed the law they would force you into submission. Perhaps this was the reality of the world plagued by Vampires and other far more fiercer races, their own brethren the Lycanthrope Clans that Sato had explained to him used to be frequent in these parts. Cayden couldn’t imagine there being another blood fued here. The Vampires had seemingly won the last one and wiped the Lycan off of the face of the map. Even were-creatures were a rare site here…

Where do we start?” He asked, glancing once more to Veita who knew these people better than he did himself. The woods, the wilds were his playground, his kingdom but here walking atop concrete and stone for miles upon miles with trees of glass and rock that these people lived in known as skyscrapers, he resented how foreign it all seemed to him. Perhaps he was a racist in his way of thinking but his loyalty came down to their kind and only their kind. No one else could be trusted.

Since her stay in ShawdowFang she had been longing for her human body, longing for human delights. The noise of the city streets lulling her into the security she had only ever felt as blending in as a human. Unnoticed and unafraid.
She had not so much missed the people. Humans on the whole were unkind creatures that only cared for themselves and shunned or attacked anything they did not like or did not understand. But she had missed the anonymity of it and the ease of living day to day. Things were handed to most humans easily as long as they had the money and that was something she had managed to gather a small but comfortable amount of.

Returning this time proved different though and it made her uncomfortable. At first the lights had seemed to bright, the city blaring into the horizon, burning into it. Yet once inside the shadows seemed larger, more foreboding then she had remembered. Everything seemed strained in a way, like there was a tension to the air which she could not see.

She found herself feeling at odds. She did not feel like she had belonged in Shadowfang yet now standing in the city she did not feel belonging either.
She knew her place was beside Cayden, that was the only thing she was sure of, yet she couldn't help but feel a dull sadness that something about the human world had apparently been lost to her during her time in the wilds.

Glancing to her mate she offered him a smile, her hair brushing against her face as the breeze swept it. She wore it loose. Her clothing were modest, Navy jeans, a plain red t-shirt and a pair of worn trainers.
Her hand moved out to find Cayden's, her fingers entwining into his to steady any nerves he would feel even though for the moment he was not showing any.
She knew how much this meant to him and how much he hated being in this world, she wanted to make it as brief as possible for him hoping he would find the family he longed to find.

“Um..” in truth she didn't know where to start either. Her bottom lip drew between her teeth as she worried upon it before her eyes lit up, an idea coming to her.
Giving his hand a little squeeze she smiled up at him once again. “I know, come on” pulling him off in the direction of what looked like a street full of small shops and cafes she started looking up to read the signs.
“I need to find somewhere that has a cash point so I can activate my account” if she remembered correctly you could withdraw money as long as you knew the correct numbers even without a card.
“There should be a cafe somewhere around here, there usually is in such places. We need to find one that has a computer. An internet cafe, that's what they call them”

As the streets got busier she drew them both towards the shop faces for the most part managing to avoid most of the humans and keep from touching them.
“If I can get online I can search the local news, see if there have been any articles or anything that could give us any ideas where to start”

Computers, the internet and all such things were void to Cayden’s experience, though money was something he was familiar with. Unlike those of the wilds money was the bloodline to all human livelihoods, cut off their ability to produce or earn money and their happiness would eventually cave in around them. He didn’t share her excited pace yet he did follow, their fingers laced in each other’s, he sought to remain beside her as she led the way.

He could smell food, they were drawing closer to such storefronts and shopping centers that Veita spoke of and those that made and sold easy foods were most evident to him now. He’d been introduced to human foods only the once by Veita yet the mere smell of them brought a rumbling to his stomach that always felt painful. ‘bastards and their bloody good food…’ he thought to himself though tried to push it away from his mind, his eyes veering back to the back of Veita who always looked good from behind.

So you reckon this news would be specific enough to tell us whether it was our people that were involved in anything?” He questioned quietly, his eyes darting about to ensure they weren’t being listened to. “I mean, how would these people pick out a typical fight to one involving non-humans. Would something like that be publicized?” he was being negative, almost sounding as if he wanted to disprove the idea that something might have gone public. He didn’t necessarily want them to fail yet with things going public, it usually meant the discovery of their kind and that never ended well in human hands.

Cayden followed her close and for the most part in silence until they found a cash point. Slowing to a stop she started entering the needed buttons as Cayden finally asked her a question.
“The fight with nonhumans will be pretty well known by now. They would have had to explain the goings on. It isn't like the non-humans have been going down without a fight” she also spoke quietly.
“There will be reports of anything if something has happened. I doubt that they would give any specifics no but they might offer descriptions. Maybe eye witness accounts... I mean its something.. If I can find something It will be more to go on then what we have”
She was trying to ignore his negativity and not let it get underneath her skin, she was trying to help him after all.

The machine obliged sending out some money which she shoved into her pocket. Taking Cayden's hand once again she navigated back out into the human traffic in search of her desired cafe location. The roar of Cayden's stomach had not been missed.

Luckily they did not have to wait for long. Finding one she smiled seeing it was not overly crowded. Entering she let go of Cayden and pointed to a small table that had three chairs, enough room to eat and a laptop that had been secured to a table via metal brackets. “Go get that table”
She left him for a brief period paying for her time on the computer and for some food and she did not return empty handed.

Plopping into the seat she placed her tray down. Two stacked burgers with fries and two vanilla milkshakes.
“Eat up”
Wriggling over to the laptop she set to work, not expecting Cayden to know a thing about that sort of technology.

His mouth watered uncontrollably. He had found the table and did his best to ignore the few that they shared the building with however when Veita brought the tray to him, he couldn’t help but forget about everything else. This food was a cancerous lure into human life that couldn’t be ignored, it couldn’t be allowed to continue going on unconsumed and suffering in the acids of his stomach, he had to have it, to devour it. It was divine…

What kind of God thought up the idea of a stacked burger, a base and a roof made up of freshly cooked bread, melted cheese atop a slab of meat, lettuce, tomato, sauces of a certain type of pickle that he couldn’t make out yet loved regardless, then another slab of meat and another slice of cheese to drip down the sides of the heavenly creation known not to the wilds. His eyes went wide and his face may have even paled as he stared the giant down with unwavering fear and an almost possessed state of lust. Veita could have stabbed any one of the people within this room yet all he would see is this burger and the thin slices of potato, cooked and browned on the outsides, white and fluffy within.

The burger was heavy, it required two hands to hold together as he lifted it from the tray and brought it in closer, his elbows atop the table while the gloriously smelling beast neared his mouth. This was no ordinary foe, it would take a wide and open bite to consume a decent portion of the delicacy. The bread squashed down as he applied pressure to the top and bottom of the burger, trying to make it a decent fit, as much so as possible before his teeth bit into it and the flood of juices and the taste of fresh meat and vegetable produce hit him and sent him head over heels in love with the moment.

These bloody humans and their god-damned bloody nice foods…

She had been busy tapping away on the keys taking a sip here and there from her frothy milkshake when the sight of Cayden having what could only be described as a love affair with his burger caught her full attention. Putting her chin into her hands as her elbows rested upon the table she watched him with an amused smile trying to remember if he had ever looked at her in such a way.
If she was not so concerned about drawing any more attention she probably would have burst out laughing but instead she had to press her lips together and smirk.
“Enjoying that there babe?” It was good to feel this way, she felt amused and for a moment happy as she watched him and she had not felt that for a long time. The feeling would be short lived but for now she enjoyed it before picking some meat out of her burger popping it into her own mouth to eat as she returned to surfing the internet.

-
Meanwhile.

The usual patrols were taking place upon the streets of Arcane. They were often and many in number. Soldiers now being ever present in the streets of the city and surrounding towns.
Trained dogs and technological equipment used to pin point any life forms non-human or unknown to them.
Veita had not known of such technology, nor had she known about the use of dogs. But her and Cayden were soon to find out as a set of on leashed growling dogs came through the door followed by six personal. All heavily armed and suited up with protective gear.

Slowly closing the laptop her hand went out to grab Cayden's wrist and pull him towards her, her eyes avoiding the soldiers as she tried to move as casually as she could. Knowing that at any second they would be found out for what they were.

Upon entering the cafe she had seen a door to the back by the kitchen, it was a fire exit and that would be their only chance of escape, the front door obviously not an option for them.
“Cayden... we need to get out back” she whispered just as the soldiers seemed to focus their attention their way. “
“Now” shooting up to her feet she hoisted the chair she had been sitting on and launched it in their direction followed by pulling Cayden up so she could kick the table and slam it against those closest to push them together into an obstacle between them and the personnel hoping to buy them enough time to escape.

Mayhem had broken out in that moment, people screaming and diving out of the way. A few have a go hero's trying to block their way as she threw them aside hearing the barking dogs and shouting soldiers moving ever closer as they made it to the door, booting it open to run into an adjoining side street.
To their left were industrial sized bins, to their right they were blocked off by an equal amount of soldiers, bringing the number up to twelve, back up on it's way.
Gasping she gripped Cayden's hand in panic her eyes scanning for means of escape and finding none. They would have to fight.

These bloody humans and their god-damned knack for ruining any possible good time he might have had in their presence…

The dogs were let loose while Cayden’s hands found the back of Veita and he sent her moving first with himself closely in tow, the pair of them pushing everyone else out of their way with a startling crash while shouting and gun fire rippled through the room and lined the walls before they could reach the door and Cayden turn just in time to slam the door in the face of the closest attack dog, the scent of blood reaching him quickly yet breaking the door handle off wasn’t going to cut it, he didn’t quite hear Veita while he pushed his way passed her to grab the large industrial bin, pulling it back to close off the way they had left the building. Now with their entrance into the side road blocked off, he turned only to see the approaching ambush and realize what Veita had said under her breath.

Damn it…” He muttered under his own, his fists balling tightly as he prepared himself for the fight. Here he didn’t have his Katana that Raikou had handed down to him, he only had the feral skills of the wilds and those that Sato had taught him in sync with Raikou’s own ways of bushido. Half way between them and the soldiers, there was a fire escape, it was enough to reach the rooftops though not close enough to get to before the reinforcements would be upon them. “There’s our chance, babe…” He tugged at her sleeve hoping that she would see where he was looking. They couldn’t rely on any sort of weapons here, not that they had much on them at the time but the slightest encouragement for these soldiers to draw firearms would mean the end for them, already they were advancing with batons and stun-guns, though given their kind, tasers wouldn’t quite cut it, only serve to slow them down…

Ladies first, I’ll be right behind you…” He spoke, yet began to walk on ahead first anyway. Veita knew him well enough by now, he was intending on jumping into the fight to ensure she could climb to the roof first. It wasn’t as though he didn’t intend on following her, she just needed to trust that he needed to see her reach some semblance of safety before he did.

It was that young, stubborn pride of his again…

Cayden blocked the doors slowing down those within so they would have to either break their way through or loop back around to join the other soldiers that now blocked their escape route. She could not believe how quickly it had all gone wrong, one minute they were enjoying each others company the next they were in a fight for their lives.
Cayden spoke with urgency and she followed his gaze to see the escape stairs he had pointed out, they scaled up the side of the building, an ugly metal like set of stairs which looked barely able to hold a small child let alone two running adults but he was right it was their only chance.

Her heart lurched up into her throat as he started to move before her meaning to head off the men before they could reach her so she had a chance to make it to the stairs. She wished that he hadn't but she knew pausing to argue or refusing to leave would actually only distract him and endanger him more then she would if she just did what he wanted.

Guns were aimed at them, most looked as though they were none lethal but there were a few that obviously were designed to stop them in their tracks should they be used.
With adrenaline pumping through her system she sprinted to the side jumping she clung to the stairs pulling a set of them down. Climbing onto them she found her feet and she started to run, figuring the quicker she cleared the bottom set of stairs the quicker Cayden would climb up and follow her.

Gun shots once again surged through the air as the soldiers from inside joined those facing her mate, the sounds of sirens in the distance growing louder as supporting units responded “Cayden, come on” she shouted clearing the second set of stairs as a rubber bullet slammed the hand rail beside her causing her to jump to the side and almost lose her footing. “We need to get out of here!” she shrieked knowing that as soon as the soldiers thought they were losing them they would turn to deadly force in order to 'protect' their people in the city. Not that they needed protecting from the likes of Cayden or herself.

He’d give as good as he got in return, those with firearms trained on them were second priority to the ones that stepped forward with their enforcement batons and the prospect of taking the two of them in alive. Cayden waited not for the invitation to strike, lashing out at the first helmet he saw and near twisting it across the face of the wearer with a heavy handed right hand strike before taking a baton across the chest and being driven back by a follow up strike from one of the guards, these officers of the law were better equipped for war and held the same ease of callousness that soldiers bred to kill, did.

Looking up to see Veita calling back for him, his eyes widened when something struck the railing and she physically flinched. A non-lethal projectile though they still packed a punch, it had missed her but hadn’t failed to piss Cayden off. Something flashed across his face, a glint that seemed to travel through from one eye to the other, that steel hatred that he held for all human kind burning inside of him. How dare these people try to walk all over their kind, what had wolves ever done to them without justification. Hunters travelled into their lands, threaten their packs, their mates, their species and when wolves retaliate, they’re suddenly brought into the limelight as monsters. Sure, Were-wolves could shift form but they weren’t the same as Lycan. Lycan were rutheless by nature, the same as Vampires, they killed and exploited any meal they got within reach of just to play with their food, tormenting it until they’d had their fun and most often than not, leaving the poor soul drowning in their own blood as the beasts sought other means for amusement; were-wolves weren’t nearly so savage but naturally the human race didn’t understand this, they’d never give them the time to learn to come to terms with the varieties and many differences within the races of the so called Immortal kind because they were smart enough to fear them. Enough so, to try to eradicate them completely. Bastards.

Nikushimi no omoni; the aura built up around him though it would not be seen to either Veita or the humans. Sato had embedded this power within him, it was the epitome of negative emotion condensed and churned into strengthening the living body with the right incentive, often hatred and anger against another being, vengeance or a tragic amount of grief to set into play the process of the body eating away at itself, fueled by a rage of emotion and a sudden burst of strength, agility and carelessness of self-regard. This was the very thing that Raikou had secretly spent their time training, seeking to rid Cayden of, this corruption of the soul that could easily become a death sentence if set loose long enough to stress the body passed it’s natural capacity.
Sato had been the earliest practitioner of Chakra control; he had mentored Karne Reign during the absence of his father. Karne had taught Soul Tygetsu. Cayden knew nothing of these people nor the history of the art already practiced within these lands but there were similarities there and Sato Nurasami had been truly gifted in manipulating the his own life force and making the most out of others.

Cayden threw himself back into the small crowd of soldiers, there were others coming but his focus was solely on the few within arm’s length, lunging at them with strikes to the head that might throw their gaze off in a direction so forcefully that it would shatter the upper spinal column and break jaws alike. His goal wasn’t to kill them but to join Veita, yet his ferocity of attacks suddenly sparked an entire new level of hostility and in this frenzy, he lept clear off the ground to climb onto the same first level of the fire escape as the air lit up in a hail of gunfire. Behind Veita once more, he pushed her ahead, the two making the climb frantically to escape their pursuers, sparks of bullets ricocheting around them.

She had shrunk back against the wall trying to avoid any more of the rubber bullets that were being shot towards her. Flinching as the bounced from the walls and railing around her she dreaded to think of what pain they would cause should they hit her yet she found she could no longer keep moving.
She had done what Cayden asked and she had left him there, but now she had gone as far as she dared. She would not endanger him by trying to return down to ground level and help him with the fight but she also refused to leave him. She would rather die then lose him to the hands of these monsters.

He was ferocious and frenzied as he fought the soldiers close enough to him to touch their bodies dropping quickly and frequently, was he not the love of her life she could have found seeing him like that frightening, she had never seen such rage from him, but she didn't care she wanted him safe.

About to shout him again his body left the floor in a massive jump she would have never been able to match. Heavy feet landed behind her, the stair structure shuddering with a squealing groan as he pushed himself against the back of her urging her to once again run.

The bullets that came then were not of rubber in material. The soldiers had switched their tactics, it had now become less about capture and more about nullifying them as a threat to the city.
Sparks flew as bullets hit the metal around them yet they did not pause, nor did they look back, being captured was not an option and when it came to it death was preferable.

Reaching the roof she spun from one side to the other trying to see a way out but all before them were roof tops, some attainable and some not. Running forward her hand once again found Cayden's as they sprinted to jump onto the next roof. All the while the sirens grew louder, the sounds of rotor blades joining them in the distance.
“I'm sorry Cayden...This is my fault” if she had not have led him to the cafe they would not have been on the street during the patrol.

Babe, just RUN!

He’d more or less flung himself up the fire escape behind Veita, she wanted to apologize but none of it was her fault, Cayden had known a confrontation was inevitable, it was just a matter of when and where. Behind him he heard the metal of the metal staircase shaking with the mortals climbing it, they weren’t far behind them and if they were to make it to the roof too soon after the pair, they’d be well in the line of fire.

The structure was more or less a variety of buildings roughly the same in height, some marginally taller though none separated from the other, their route was straight forward. Both agile in body and in mind from the life of a wildling, climbing and descending in a matter of seconds, scaling the rooftops and otherwise being on the run was something they were used too. Unfortunately, these soldiers were well trained and not as clumsy as most humans were however, thus the advantage wasn’t too grand.

Veita, Jump!

Cayden yelled as they crossed over to the next building, a drop several meters lower than the first of the rooftops, they landed and Cayden forced himself into a forwards roll in order to absorb as much of the impact as well as keeping his momentum going. It wasn’t long before he was back on his feet and reaching for Veita’s hand to ensure neither of them were split off from one another.

Sirens screamed all around and flashing lights lit up the streets on either side of the high rise apartments and storefronts, it wasn’t difficult to tell that they were well and truly hunted. From up on the roof, he didn’t have time to peer off and take a gander but the number of officers down there were probably something fairly extreme given what Veita had told him about the humans fear of all things not known to them.

They were mid-way across the second rooftop when Cayden spotted a roof access that led down into the building, it was closed and locked for emergency use only however with the brief opening that they had, he let go of Veita’s hand and moved to raise his right foot before planting it just shy of the doors handle. The entrance to the rest of the building caved in, it swung open with such a loud racket that it hit the connecting wall and the fire alarm soon sounded. He did not however enter and instead turned back and sprinted ahead in order to catch up with Veita, hoping that this commotion would throw the humans off and cause them to think they’d attempted to get to the ground somehow. Instead, Cayden was pretty damn eager to stay the hell away from those flashing lights and traversing these buildings for as long as they possibly could.

The meeting with old members of the Kosta's pack had gone a long way to derailing any hope that he had felt in coming to Arcane. In fact it had made him want to grab Nammia and go back home.
The only reason he had stayed was because he and Nammia knew that there were others still out there and that they probably needed help.
Not much ground had been made on his part. He had found the others but they had left him though he supposed he at least knew where they were and that for the most part they were still OK though he knew that could change at any second. He had to at least try and reason with himself that he had tried his best. He had asked them, he had done everything he knew how to.

He had spent a day with Nammia after they had met with Aleria. She had taken it out of him a bit and he supposed that Nammia probably had not trusted him to go off on his own again so soon after that. But now once again they had gone their separate ways in order to try and find and help as many of their kind as they could.

He had studies the patrols on the streets for most of the morning before he had dared to head out. A hood drawn up and around his face as he moved through the crowds thick sun glasses covering his eyes. He sipped a take away coffee from time to time blending in with the crowds of human sheep as they shopped and wondered around dealing with their day to day life.
Nothing much had happened everyone he came across being human and he was starting to get ready to leave to another part of town when all of a sudden crowds started to rush and busy.
Listening in he could hear approaching sirens and a helicopter. Moving on he picked up on screams and gun shots seeming to come from a few streets away.

He was not about to go walking himself into the middle of the fray so he diverted himself aiming to had to a roof a street away from the main commotion to see if he could see anything that way.
Such commotion he assumed was probably saved for his kind and other non-humans. Though in this case even though he was in fact looking for other wolves he hoped he was wrong. The area was swarming and he feared any of his kind caught in the cross hairs probably did not have all that much chance of escape.

The longer they ran for the more her heart pumped in frantic panic. These humans were not slowing, they were not falling behind and as time went on more and more of them seemed to be spawning like demons from hell chasing them.
She saw no way out of it. They couldn't run forever. Eventually one of them would slip or the soldiers would surround them. They could not out run them and there were to many of them for them to turn and fight. Had she the time to properly think about it she probably would have just stopped and hoped that they would put her out of her misery quickly.

Each jump was a risk but so far they had landed them without slowing down to much. Stones and debris kicking up behind them as they sprinted over the roof tops of the city. Cayden doing his best to divert them as often as he could.
He reasoned that it wasn't her fault and she didn't argue again needing to save her energy for the urgency at hand instead of apologising.

Cayden left her side for a moment kicking at a fire escape for what seemed like an eternity though only a few seconds passed. He caught up with her quickly enough and they continued on their way hoping that they would fall for it.

Then it happened. The blades she could hear in the distance came into view in a terrifying sight. A large black army issued helicopter rose from behind a building about five buildings to their front.
Shrieking out in shock she planted her feet skidding across the roof as she scrambled to grab Cayden's arm and stop him from running any further.
“Get Down Cayden” she screamed in what could only be described as terror, her hope for the both of them getting out of there shattered.

She had skidded onto her side her shift lifting as the rough floor took off the top layer of skin upon her ribs but she did not have time to focus on that sting as her eyes darted around the roof they now found themselves upon. “There!” she shouted. A large metal air conditioning unit stuck up from the middle of the rooftop they would have to take shelter there.

Letting go of his arm she scrambled back to her feet just as the chopper lined up the gun men, bullets cracking through the air in their direction once more as they fled to find shelter.
Jumping behind it, bullets once again sparked off the metal, some piercing it as she huddled behind tears stringing her eyes at the thought of this being their final moments.

Cayden felt Veita's pull as she dropped to the floor, he heard her voice call out to him in panic and yet it came slowly in mind as his eyes took in the ammasing whirly bird, the human black metal eagle armed with men seated upon either sides, all holding firearms of their own. His eyes widened and everything slowed.

Fire erupted from the first barrel of one of the swat enforcers, the rifle jolting back in slow recoil as the lead flowed through the brief show of flames, red hot and soaring through the air at a tremendous pace, one that Immortals themselves often struggled to keep up with.

He continued to run, desperation overwhelming him. Veita managed to get clear of the fire first and soon had Cayden diving for the cover beside her, landing flat on his front and kicking up the loose stone of the rooftop around him as he rolled and came face and shoulder first into the wall of the airconditioning unit.

"This isn't gonna cut it, they'll be on us soon!"

He yelled over top of the gunfire that richoeted around them. He had doubts too that the cover itself would hold up against such a hammering, the kind of steal that these units held were far thinner than that which often stopped live ammunition.

Ahead of them was the edge of the roof, what was beyond it he did not know but the chopper above would be swirling around to flank them on this side if they didn't try to do something quickly. To their left, the end of the line, the next rooftop was more of a climb than a jump and with this kind of attention they simply wouldn't make it. To their right, the uniformed men were steadily gaining on them whilst their metal bird kept them isolated.

"Veita..."

He turned to look at her, fear in his eyes over the belief that he was likely about to lose her and his own life in the process. His hand reached out for hers and took it into a tight grasp.

"I fucking love you!"

There was nothing left to say and he wanted not to give her the chance to ask him what he was thinking. Looking back ahead of them, while the gunfire showered the area, he pulled her up to a crouch along side him and looking to the edge of the building, no matter how stupid or possibly deadly it might be, they would be killed if they didn't atleast try...

He moved, sprinting for it and hoping that Veita trusted him enough not to slow their pace, hand in hand. The edge of the roof ever closer, the adredaline coursing through out his veins, everything running at 60 miles, faster than he could focus on any one thing, he didn't even feel the led pierce through his right shoulder, till the next hit his left leg and forced him to stumble. His free hand reached for the edge of the roof and seeing nothing but air, some buildings below and then the street, he threw himself off, pulling her with him.

Clearing several roof tops Zigan moved with the speed he had been gifted with. In and out of upper units he was undetected and making good distance.
On ground level he had seen and could hear at least two dozen soldiers now filling the streets some of whom were climbing fire escapes trying to trap and flank the terrified couple.
He didn't know yet how he would help them escape from those who meant to either kill or capture them but he didn't stop to worry about it, they needed help and they were his kin though not by blood but by breed, he could and he would not turn a blind eye to them. No matter the personal consequence of it.

Running up to kick off onto a roof that next to the one that held Cayden and Veita, Zigan had to suddenly plant his feet and ditch out on his jump causing him to skid and crash into the small side rail upon the roof with a grunt of frustration.
Crouching down he drew his hood up closer his head rising until he could see the potential massacre that started to unfold before him.

Round upon round fired from the chopper the bullets spraying through the air and into the air conditioner unit they hid behind, it wouldn't hold for long that was obvious as the bullets sliced through the metal with ease, they had seconds left if that. It was now or never.
Standing up he no longer tried to hide himself from detection, taking a few steps back he gave himself enough room for a run up before he sped into action darting forward to throw himself across the gap between the two roofs.

The jump was bigger then the others and had him landing upon his hands and knees upon the edge, gaining balance he looked up in time to see Cayden and Veita running from their cover, the chopper swinging around to keep them in sight of the guns as the bullets continued to rain down upon them.
All to late he saw what they intended to do, his hand reaching out pointlessly in a bid to get them to stop as the sight of bullets piercing flesh caused him to jump to his feet as Cayden and Veita toppled over the edge.

He could only hope they survived the fall and the wounds they had sustained but he could do little to help break their fall.
All he knew was that as long as the helicopter was on their trail they would never be able to escape.

Turning his attention to it he took a single slow breath in a way of calming himself while he did what needed to be done. “Help me now will you?” he questioned the air before once again breaking into a run, this time aimed directly at chopper.
At the very least he could try and slow things down to give the couple a better chance of getting away.
He had been spotted now, bullets broke up the ground around him as he ran, a number of them brushing his flesh yet none of them enough to slow him down as he leapt from the roof top hurtling through the air until he grabbed hold of the rung wrapping one of his arms through it as the helicopter jolted and swung to the side due to the sudden change of weight.

“Ahhh” yelling through gritted teeth as a bullet punched through his shoulder he fought to keep hold his other arm trying to grab the rung to stop him plunging into the streets.
He felt the power building up within, the stress of the situation making it difficult to focus upon as Michael lent him the energy “Come on!” a foot from above now kicked out at him, crushing his fingers against the metal in a way that caused more fire to spread through his limb.
Just as he could no longer hold it came, in a surge of bright blue light, Michael's power erupted forth in it's blinding brilliance sending shock waves silently out around them as for a split second silence fell, time slowing before blue replaced with the angry red of flame as the chopper burst into flames, spiralling out of control, as it slammed into the buildings surrounding, bricks and debris raining down upon the streets beneath until it with a deafening bang landed upon the floor and numerous soldiers beneath.

Patient and unmoving, the Ronnin awaited his chance to intervene. Adrenaline was ever a blunder of mistakes and by-chance successes, yet in the silence of the mind and the steady echo of ones heart, control over ones fate could never be forgotten.

Cayden Nekishu and Veita Roma, Raikou was not only their accquaintance but the mentor to a young wolf whose life was estranged from his Pack. They had met on regular occasions, Raikou teaching the male many things and yet still as reckless as ever, yet again the fallen from grace Samurai found himself in the midst of another great cloud.

The sound of the led downpour changed course, it was distinct though by no means obvious, none the less Raikou surged forward for the wall and pressing his right foot against the flat surface, his momentum shifted, ascending the brick laiden giant in full sprint heading towards the roof, his legs a ghost of the rest of his mortal self, pursueing methods known to few in order to survive the unpredictable. Just as the two bodies tumbled forward over the edge of the roof, Raikou's left hand reached out to take hold of the embrace of their own, his feet propelling himself backward to throw the three of them into a summersault high above the street alight with red and blue.

Seconds passed like minutes, his gaze taking in the shock and surprise, the relief and confusion of the pair all shown across one contraction of muscle beneath their skin, yet his need to set them afar was greater than his need to pamper their spirits.

The pair would not have made it from one side of the street to the other, not without his interferrance and thus, he released them as the three of them came about, Cayden and Veita both head over heels as Raikou threw them the rest of the way, leaving the pair to amass their own landing upon the other side whilst the Ronnin descended down unto the human enforcers, a height thought impossible to survive.

There came a flash of movement, his arms reaching for something before smoke exploded around him. One after another, plumes of thick white smog errupted around him, taking to the side of the buildings and soon the street below, officers calling out in confusion, gunfire sounding though to no avail as they saw not where their assailant came to land.

He was silent, his Wakizashi and Katana both drawn in their sheaths, loosed not with steal but blunt the impact in which they connected with each of the nearest officers to him. His steps fast, his body agile as he twisted, turned, ducked and evaded the wild fire, seeking the throats, heads and limbs of the policing unit, lifting their burden and surrendering them all to the bliss of unconscious delight. In the incapacitation of these men, their lives would be spared and no blood spilled by the hand of the failed Samurai; his honor lost to his fallen Master of a distant age.

Every where she looked they were trapped a different death waiting for them on each side. Either by fall, by soldier's hands or by the helicopter that had then pinned down like rats while bullets rapidly ripped their way through the metal at their backs.
They had only just started to live again after having been trapped in the miserable land of limbo in Shadowfang and now their new leases on life were about to be snuffed out before they had even had the chance to see the end of a new day.

Over the noise she heard him declaring his love for her as though it was the last thing he would ever say to her and she knew that it was now or never, they were going to make a break for it and no matter which way he chose and no matter what the out come would be she trusted him.
“I Love you too” shrieking above the noise they both rose to their feet and were running before she had any time to process which way they were going.

Bits of roof and bullets flew up around them as the floor churned up under the assault a pain striking her forearm and side as she yelped in pain feeling Cayden stumble forward as blood sprayed out from two wounds upon him, pitching them up and over the side of the roof both of them pushing away from it as much as they could.

Clinging to his hand she refused to let go as they started to fall, it became very clear rapidly that they wouldn't reach the other side and that they were going to fall to their deaths. Closing her eyes she braced herself trying to pull closer to Cayden then she was but then something else impacted upon them with a thud, a warmth wrapping around them in a painful and hard embrace as in a sudden move they were twisted and thrown off in an angle her eyes shooting open in time to see him as he released them sending them to a safe landing.

Having to let go of Cayden to land she put out her hands the gravel biting into them as she toppled over into a roll coming to a stop coughing upon her back where she sat up as quickly as she could to rush towards Cayden knowing he had been hit but not where “Cayden...Cayden, can you move, we need to move?”

His stomach lurched, his shoulder near feeling like it was going to pop from it's socket as their descent was halted by the swift movement and strength of Raikou Diasu. Cayden's eyes snapped open and his breath audibly left him in a forced exhale, slightly groaning aloud as the world spun around them, unable to make sense of the direction they were facing now the way in which they were then thrown, it was like an action being taken straight out of a hollywood movie.

Seperated from one another, Cayden was thrown alongside his mate, the lights of the police far below spinning in and out of his line of sight before something solid and breathtaking struck his back and his body bounced off of the pavement of the roof he had been cast upon, a cry of pain calling out to no one and nothing but his own anguish as he rolled several times before coming to a halt but a meter away from Veita whose landing had far bested his own. The bullet wounds already soaking his clothing and muddying the roof with his DNA.

"What the hell just happened..." He questioned, barely able to utter the words louder than a confused mumble of emotions as Veita found him and he tried to stand, his head still spinning from their flight and descent back into the world of hurt that they so often seemed to own and call home to these days. Wincing, he bit down on his teeth, his jaw clenching with a hiss as the pain in his right shoulder and left calf muscle shot up throughout his torso as he sought to continue their desperate escape.

"I'm gonna slow you down..." He growled, hating that he was saying this but between the pair of them, well it was another Shadowfang-like situation, wanting to protect her and be selfish in ensuring that he didn't have to see her shot...

Re: Humanity & Me (Tag: Veita).

Post by Zigan on Mon 27 Feb 2017, 13:19

Burning heat ravaged the uncovered flesh upon his hands and his face as the vehicle burst into flame his clothing singed and smoking as the helicopter started to spiral and fall from the sky. His arm still wrapped through the lower rung Zigan was forced to spiral with it the air rushing chillingly around him dousing any flames that had taken purchase upon his body.
The next few seconds of insanity felt like a life time as he tried to pry his half dead arm away from the machine, the bullet that had lodged within his shoulder there limiting his movement enough that he was unable to simply free himself from the rung.
The helicopter was now no more then a shell as it crashed against the walls of the buildings which lined the streets, each impact against brick knocked crushing him against metal sheeting until with one least heave he managed to free his arm.

Kicking out with each leg he pushed his feet against the rung he had been holding and forced himself as far from the falling remains as he could the tail slamming against his side throwing him clear away and into a crumbling wall of a convenience store. Tumbling with the bricks and glass his hands rose up in a futile attempt at protecting his head as the deafening roar of a secondary explosion rung out, flames once again bursting through the streets as the helicopter met the road beneath.
Dropped off the bricks he landed brutally against a fallen moped, metal and bone crunching in a sound that shock through his whole body as finally his fall came to an end.
Sucking in a breath he heaved a mouthful of blood as he rolled from the metal remains and onto the roadside beneath him.
Coming onto his hands and his feet he fought light-headedness managing to keep it at bay long enough for him to get onto his feet.

He stood on the spot for a moment trying to work out just how injured he was before he took on the task of finding Veita and Cayden. He wanted to help them, not hinder them.
If he could find them and get them somewhere safe that was a victory as far as he was concerned.
His shoulder gave him limited use of his left arm, his ribs were shot to bits but his spine and legs were in tact, he could still move well enough.
Parts of him were burnt and bleeding but as he looked himself over he felt confident that nothing was about to immediately stop him from helping them, he was more then able to keep moving.
Ignoring the aches and pains once happy nothing needed attention right away he started to move, aiming towards the area where he had seen them fall.

Gun shots still spluttered through the heavy blanket of debris cloud, lights sparking in the distance as he coughed the thick plumes from singed lungs
Shielding his eyes he squinted to see through moving forward all the while until he was able to make out a figure fighting with the remaining soldiers.

By the time the smog had cleared enough he had already worked out it was not Cayden or Veita fighting, someone else had joined his battle to save them. He knew his face but he did not know him personally. The man held his own so Zigan kept moving, his eyes scanning the streets for the broken bodies of the young wolves.
“Where are they?” he questioned himself still careful to remain hidden from those who still fought.
“They couldn't have....” looking up he frowned, if they were not in a heap on the pavement and they were not fighting the only other option was that they some how made it across.
“Lucky fuckers..”

As unbelievable as it was he had seen less likely things happen, Raikou most likely having something to do with it.
Sprinting to the nearest ladder he once again found himself scaling the roof exits until he reached the top.
Again they were in sight, though this time they were obtainable the soldiers not having caught up with them yet as they both dragged themselves further away from danger.

Wasting no time he ran over, his own pain hidden with adrenaline due to his concern for the younger wolves. Putting aside any family ties, any family feuds they needed help and he would not abandon them.
Veita propped herself underneath one of Cayden's shoulders, so he ran around and took the other transferring as much weight onto himself as was possible in that position. “Keep moving. They are distracted” He yelled out above the noise.
He could heal them enough to stop the bleeding, but only once they were safe to stop. “We need to get off this roof and into the sewers”

Re: Humanity & Me (Tag: Veita).

By the time the smoke had cleared, many of the police officers were sprawled out across the ground groaning and holding themselves for the life and pain of it all. Not one man had been hit with the steel of his blade but the blunt force of the sheath, not one drop of blood had been spilled yet all had been taken down within the area and across the comm chatter heard from the radio of one of the closer officers, Raikou listened to the confusion in their organization. They knew not what had happened yet there would be others to come and help these people, they did not need to be secured any further, immobile as they were, he had given Zigan the assistance required to ensure Cayden and Veita were not killed.

He had tracked the pair all the way from the Kumari wilds. It had been a week or so before he had left Kodoku-Numa, his sanctuary within the volcanic lands, only to discover that Benjimen had disappeared, further investigation lead him to believe that so too had all the Pups. With his skills in tracking, it did not take long to pick up on any leads and much to his surprise, he found that they had returned to the land he had formerly called home.

Raikou knew much of Arcane, how engulfed in darkness this land was. It offered a never-ending battle for once such as he and such reasons were what had led him elsewhere. Already he had seen the collapse of those he had foolishly allowed himself to care for, here a woman that challenged his ideals yet so too confused him with her care. He had not seen Kingsley in a great deal of time and wondered whether she were still in the area, least she not have been overcome by the evil in this place.

The plate of his armor was heavy, yet he moved with the weight of the wind, the Samurai-Ronin turning from the scene and shadow-stepping up the side of the building to join with the others. For a human, he was fast, incredibly so. Letting go of the mental constraints of man, his body opened into the apex of potential, he had learned to trust not in what he saw but what was felt. A life lived on a balance of instinct and dedication to Bushido. Ready to give everything for nothing in return if only to die honorably for those whom still needed him.

The Tachibana Clan were long gone, he the last of their people. Many of his talents and learnings had been passed on to Cayden and yet the young wolf lacked the direction to choose to follow them, too much the animal in him to see the promise in human civilization, Cayden was feral in his youth and ignorance, yet not so much to keep Raikou from growing protective over his charge. He was not Samurai as Raikou had been, yet he held good intentions, as fool hardy as his actions often were.

He spoke nothing to the trio, instead perching himself in a low crouch upon the side of the roof with his back turned, his gaze distant as he peered down from the endless height, as if able to watch in glorified detail, the other men trying to recover from the assault. His smoke pellets had worked their magicks and kept his presence concealed in the incident, his role in Arcane City however, it seemed had not finished with him.

“I don't know... someone grabbed us..saved us” she replied pulling on his arm as she tried to get him onto his feet and steady. The blood was flowing and she had no idea how badly he was hurt or how long he would be able to keep moving for. The only thing she did know was that she would die before allowing him to be taken from her by the humans. She would kill anyone who tried, or be killed trying.
His pain was obvious and unlike the norm he admitted it to her in the form of growling about slowing her down. Her grip only tightened upon his arm then as she pulled him up and started to force him to move with her.
“Only if you argue with me. Keep moving!”

Another came and she gasped ready to fight, he was fast and before she knew it he was on the other side of Cayden taking some of the weight from her, his scent meeting her with familiarity as she glanced quickly upon his bloodied form. A snap decision had to be made as he spoke of sewers and she nodded one quick nod before again starting to move. They either trusted him now and ran the risk of him being an enemy or they fought him and got captured by the humans. Their choices were very limited and he seemed like the better option.
“Ok, Lead the way” she glanced at Cayden before looking back ahead unsure how things got so bad so fast. She had never expected this so quickly and she had been far from prepared.

Then another came, though he didn't come close for a moment she squinted at him and could have sworn he was the face that she saw during their fall and all she could do was hope he was there as a friend not a foe as she tried her best to get her and her mate off of the roof and down into the sewers where they could hopefully find some place of safety.
