Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Requiem on Thu 02 Feb 2017, 13:11

Weeks had past since the hallucinations began and Clara really wasn't sure how much more she could take, the lack of sleep occasionally made it so she didn't always know what was hallucination and what was reality.  No one had visited her, no one had contacted her, Knigh, Karne, Marcus, none of them and it just made her realise that if she was gone she would not be missed anymore. They all had their own lives to lead and she had not been a part of those lives for some time now. She was all but forgotten, isolated to her flat with the constant torment of her own mind.  A bitter reminder that she was only human and her human mind could only handle so much. Her entire life Clara had always been the strong one, the one to always get through and come out stronger but now, she was no longer that person, her own mind had betrayed her. Was she really this weak?

Clara sat in her apartment staring blankly at the TV screen, taking in nothing of the content shown, simply trying to look at anything  but what her mind had created around her; Soul sat beside her his hand resting on her own, the blood dripping from his bullet wound onto the sofa. The floor had countless bodies strewn around, long lost family members, those she had also killed herself. Luca was also there, battered and bloodied a constant reminder of her losses and her grief. Even Xaphan stood watching her with his sickening grin, waiting for her to be his again.  Clara's state had even made Cooper worry. He usually left her to herself but recently he had been letting himself in and cleaning up, making her eat and checking up on her. She barely acknowledged him when he did and yet he continued to do so.

Xaphan's body flickered to here and there, trying to get her attention. She ignored him as she tried to ignore all of them. When Soul had first appeared, she had not wanted him to leave, but it had become torturous with him no longer laughing and smiling but killing himself over and over and then all the others began to appear until her home was full of them, everywhere she looked someone was there, everywhere she stepped, she stepped on someone. Clara could no longer take it, she finally looked up to meet the eyes of the demon as his body flickered to a halt across the room from her. His yellow eyes looking at her with greed.  She slowly stood deciding that it didn't matter if she gave in and gave herself to him or not, would it really be worse than what she was going through now?

Clara stepped over the hallucinated corpses on her floor and walked towards the now cackling Xaphan, she felt nothing as she did, just emptiness and was ready for it to be over with. As she reached him her hallucination of him disappeared and she was filled with rage, rage at herself and what she had let herself become, ''Fuck you!'' She screamed hitting out at the place where he had stood  just seconds before, hitting nothing but the wall, beating on it until her bloodied knuckles couldn't take anymore. Clara turned her body, leaning her back on the wall and slid down to the floor. She couldn't scream anymore, and she had been unable to cry for days now. All of the banging and screaming had caused Cooper to contact Karne as a last resort. Clara unbeknownst to this, just sat there, lifting her gaze to find Soul where he sat watching her with a smile from his dead face.

When it came to the City of Arcane, Karne still had a significant amount of pull, even with the Oxen occupation having made the metropolis the heart of their operations. Coopers Den had long been a suspect of the Corporation, one business tied to the immediate dealings of the Vampire Covenant known by the name of Death. They had searched countless times yet always come up with nothing as a result and therefore never had the means to arrest the Barman, nor pursue the investigation into any solid grounds. That said, on this particular night, Karne Reign stepped through the entrance for the first time in near on three years, all within public sight of the locals unlike the last run-in he had with Clara, this time he came to make a statement as much so as to ascertain the state of the woman who shared the apartment above with his dead brother.

As he moved across the floor, the patrons within all turned to look at him, cold and frightened glances, some even having to step away and quietly make an exit out of fear that his presence would reign in the Oxen Corporations finest, yet none would speak of this intrusion, this presence that was so often followed with the whispers of dead families, loved ones lost simply by striking him on an off accord. The fortune of being feared rather than loved meant that the interactions with the common people were most often discouraged and left not for him to have to bother with.

Take a walk, kid, go tell Cooper I’m here”.

He leaned against the counter to the bar looking to the waitress that stood opposite him, she was young and dark haired, certainly new since his last visit and though she had never met him before, she certainly knew who he was judging by the look on her face and the stutter in her voice as she meekly agreed that would be best and did as was asked of her. Around him, three seats emptied out on either side as if he had brought in a bad smell. It was nice to know that he still had the ability to scare the living shit out of these people when others of their kind so badly wanted the heads of his family. He was taking quite the risk in being there and yet at the same time, these people needed to know that against all the chaos thrown at them, at the end of the day, he was still here and behind him, the Death Covenant and all that came with it.

Things were starting to settle in now that they had moved.
There had been a lot to adjust to but for the most part Djinnshoe was happy with the way things had gone. Everyone seemed nice enough and his room was more then adequate for him, even Ajax had seemed to take on a less stressed approach to things which was nice.

It had seemed like the right time now to go off for a little bit and do his own thing as he often would do.
Seeing as they were now closer to Arcane then they were in Lacrimosa he decided to go and look up a new/old friend.

He had known Clara a few months how yet he considered her a friend. The night on the party bus was one of the best times he had in a long while and she had made an impression on it.
It had bothered him that she was so broken and he had wanted her to wish it away but she would not do that.

Walking through the streets he tapped his head trying to remember where she said that she lived, he was coming up blank at it was putting a dampener on his mood leading him to simply wonder around the streets of Arcane for the longest time.

Eventually though he caught a break in the form of Karne Death-Reign. The male he had not yet met but shared a home with entered a bar. Looking up he took in the name of the place, a large smile forming upon reading the name.
"Ah-HAH!" he clapped to himself, ignoring glances. Clara had mentioned Cooper's before. He could not believe his luck.

Following a few minutes afterwards he entered quietly, seeing the clientele of the place looking rather stressed out, many of them glancing in the direction of the vampire who waited at the bar impatiently.
Clearing his throat he took a seat near to Karne his eyes roaming the bat before them.
"I'm looking for Clara"
He blurted, subtly was not his thing, interaction for the most part still baffled him.
"Know where she is?"

Had the stranger been a mere Mortal, Karne would have answered rather blatantly pointing in the direction of ‘Fuck off’ or otherwise ‘go fuck yourself’. He didn’t make it a habit of speaking on the behalf of other people, especially when he knew nothing about them and yet this scent was somehow familiar. He couldn’t place the face of the male beside him yet it took him only a moment to recognize that he had been or had at least at one point shared a decent amount of time within the Blackwood. It was rather fortunate that he’d caught on to this early, given the status these days surrounding Immortals in the human world, had he not then he might well have bit the man’s head off. Still…-He was trying to reign himself in much more these days, if not for the Covenant’s sake then at the least for Cassandra’s…

You’re with Ajax?

He questioned as equally bluntly, the share fact that this one could share any sort of friendship with Ajax Matashina meant that by coming to this place, he was doing so on more or less civil terms and Karne hoped that it wouldn’t turn into yet another brawl to make an example of just how feral their kind could be.

He neglected to answer the question itself, instead turning back to face the counter and reaching for his glass of whiskey, lifting it to his lips as he awaited Cooper. Surely enough and right on time, the older human man stepped out from the back and moved first to Karne, though not without sparing a rather intrigued and little apprehensive glance to Djinshoe.

You could’ve used a little more discretion, Christ knows I have enough on my back with these bastards checking my books every fought night” He grumbled lowely between the three of them, referring to Oxen-Corp. Soul had been smart to distance every dealing the establishment had tied to the Covenant off of the records, it was why he had been given the job back then. Coupled with his eventual uneasy alliance with the human paramilitary corporation, he had provided a great set of hands on where information was concerned, Karne couldn’t help but feel that tinge of anger rising up in the back of his throat for how everything had turned out. He swallowed it quickly however.

How bad is she exactly…”, Karne replied. The last time he had seen her, he had given her the news of Soul’s death and attempted murder against him in some fucked up turn of events…-questions that they still had no answers too and yet with all things going on, Karne had to put it down to being something he had done to somehow earn it. Hell, his sister had done the same thing once upon a time…-His Daughter still wished to.

She’s seeing people that aren’t there…-Soul, apparently…-as well as a bunch of other names I didn’t recognize. Xaphan? She won’t talk about it much, just the once with me but I’ve heard her…-I head up there now and then just to keep an eye on the lass, she’s in a fucking bad way, Karne…”.

The Vampire didn’t need much more than that and as expected lacked all manners in thanking the man, instead turning to walk passed Shoe muttering under his breath “C’mon then…” as he sought the warehouse styled elevator at the back of the bar, pulling up the grating and sliding the wooden frame open before stepping in and with or without shoe, flipping the switch that would take the ride all the way to the top floor. Clara’s little home of suffering, as it sounded.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Shoebox on Sat 04 Feb 2017, 09:17

Karne was as warming as he expected him to be not that it made Shoe miss a beat. He watched the man take a sip from his glass looking as though someone had just crapped in his cornflakes and he sighed an exaggerated sigh mimicking the one Skymere so often gave him when he was annoyed, for the most part that was how Shoe got by, he acted the way he thought he was supposed to. Other times he went off script but he guessed Karne was in no mood for that.
Everyone always seemed far to serious in his opinion. He understood they had bad times but he just didn't get it, they could crush most other people's head within their palms.

Answering the question he glanced around the bar “Uh-huh, not right now” he pulled a face taking the question as it came. Ajax as far as he knew was back at the woods. He turned the same way Karne now faced and placed his forearms against the bar as a man he assumed to be the famous Cooper came into view.

Another sigh from Shoe slipped out as Cooper too seemed to have about as much charm as a broom handle. None the less he listened, looking suitably sorry when Cooper chastised them for being careless in showing up the way they had done.
He had found the right place though, he was not alone in his search for the little human girl and it sounded like they had both arrived with no time to spare. Clara by all accounts had fallen off the loony wagon into crazyville, not that it was news to him, she was at the doorway last time he had seen her, in fact it was probably one of the reasons he had come looking for her.

Karne invited him all be it begrudgingly to follow him as he moved away from Cooper and the bar to the back of the place a dodgy looking lift there.
“Uh- Nice to meet you” he shouted back at the bar keeper with a little wave before he rushed to catch up with Karne.

Stepping inside the contraption he stood next to Karne, his shoulder a few inches away as he looked over the walls of the lift. He had never been in one constructed in such a crude way before he was amazed that it worked at all let alone carried their weight.
Moving upwards always gave him deja vu a sinking feeling counteracting it causing memories to arrive though they stopped just out of reach. An uncomfortable feeling and one he would usually avoid. He had decided that Clara was worth it though.
“How do you expect to fix her?” He assumed that was Karne's reason for coming. “Some things can't be fixed you know”

"You're telling me..."

Karne muttered under his breath in agreement, leaning back against the frame of the elevator, his gaze falling while his arms crossed over his chest. His leather jacket hung loosely around him, his black pants of a more artificial like material, similar though not quite the same quality, defined his figure as lean and masculine. For all his physical traits however, the newcomer couldn't have pinned the very same thing that Karne had been living these passed months. Up until the word of Cassandra's suspected whereabouts, he too had been as broken as Clara. Though he wasn't talking to dead men, rather he was finding every excuse to kill them or otherwise get himself killed in the process.

"She's widowed and part of the reason her brother is dead..." Karne spoke up rather matter of factually, he left out the part about Luca being starved for months on end, over a year perhaps. The dime wasn't in the details of that ol' fucking mistake; Karne regretted agreeing to it all. "Though I put the blade through his heart, she left him in my hands...-We have one long complicated fucking history of disliking one another and yet..." His voice trailed as he tried to find the right words to suit the situation. Despite their history of never seeing eye to eye, Karne had still been there when Clara had needed him. She had been there for Soul. "We could be here for months talking about this shit and it'd only confuse you more, it's not important..." He decided aloud. This wasn't their life story, this was about getting Clara to wake the fuck up and come out of the hole she was in. Karne knew first hand that isolation and alcohol didn't mix well.

"The ones she loved are dead and those that remain aren't exactly on best terms with her. She has a place back in the Black Wood should she wish for it but I offered this months ago and she never took me up on it. If she's seeing Xaphan, this could be something more than just her falling apart though with Xaphan's counter-part taken care of, I can't imagine Xaphan targeting her...-He's more likely to seek vengeance against my family..." by his family, he meant Destiny. She who was not his blood yet he had agreed to take in for the sake of his children, Hope and Marcus. "They were demonic. Higher Daedra...-Managed to seperate themselves from the rest and are responsible for most of the harm done to my family. Plague was the other, that wretched piece of shit..." Karne could still remember his last desperate bid to destroy Plague himself, it had been the last time his father had stepped in to save him from the flames he had helped to fuel.

"Nothing is ever fucking simple with us, I'm afraid...-We're almost there" His gaze lifted after making the initial remark, the elevator slowing in it's climb and Karne moving to lift up the front gate as the gears set into place and the breaks locked down upon their clamps. "Let's hope she's not to fucked up right now...", he was referring to Clara possibly being drunk, though in the end, it was all sounding like a river of shit they were wading into. Moving ahead, he found the door to the apartment and knocked on it several times, his hand's impact loud and without restraint, enough to announce himself before inviting himself in and pushing the door open, stepping on through with Shoe following him.

''Stop looking at me.'' She said weakly to her imagined Soul sitting, watching her. She closed her eyes and placed her bloodied hands on her ears, placing her head down against her knees. She took in a deep breath, releasing it slowly before hearing the noise of the lift as it made it's way up to her apartment. She sat still for a moment until she realised that she wasn't imagining it. She pushed herself to stand and glanced around at the flat, she wasn't even going to attempt to make it look decent, in it's current state, it would take her a while.

Instead, she rushed to the bathroom and splashed her face, hearing the knock at her door. She patted her face dry with a towel, seeing how tired and skinny she looked in the mirror. She washed the blood from her hands away and held the towel on them as she heard the door open. Frowning she went back out into the hall to see Karne making his way uninvited to her home.  Clara stood there and said nothing as she looked at Karne, towel still against her knuckles, she then tilted her head to see Shoe not far behind him. ''What..'' She coughed, glancing away from Karne and at Soul still watching her. She stared at Soul a moment and then back to the pair, wondering if they were there or not,  ''What are you, uh.. doing here?'' If they were real and really there then in her right mind she would have hated showing them how weak and defeated she currently was. To imagine Shoe of all people though? She couldn't think of some torturous reason why he would appear unless he was really there in front of her.

She fidgeted a little before turning her back on both of them and going to the window, placing the towel down on the side before opening it and sticking her head out to get some fresh air. She squinted her eyes at the bright of the light, having been cooped up in here for days, ''What do you want?'' She asked, still facing away from them. She turned her head briefly to look at Soul once more, meeting his eyes and holding them a moment before turning and leaning against the wall, arms folded, waiting for an answer from them both.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Shoebox on Mon 27 Mar 2017, 21:06

Karne acknowledged the likelihood of being able to fix Clara and Shoe looked upon him with a curious expression, not unlike one a child would carry upon coming across a totally new subject,
Karne did not seem like the fellow to go and waste his time upon things that he knew he could not change yet there he stood beside him, looking totally miserable for it and Shoe found that confusing. Friendship didn't really seem like something the vampire would have been good at, he did not seem like the caring type. He was an enigma and that peaked Shoe's attention towards him causing him to forget the discomfort the lift had given him.

“Yes... Colour me confused” they disliked one another.... well that didn't make any more sense either, Shoe sighed to himself even more befuddled by Karne's presence.
It seemed like a very tangled web indeed and he doubted very much that he would be able to get to the bottom of it.
Relationships upon earth were very complex and although he had little to no memory of where he hailed from he did know that things were much simpler where he came from. They had focus and walked paths they were supposed to.. it was probably why he had ended up upon the Earth, confused and forgotten.

More of an explanation followed and he kept up the best he could, having to recall where he had heard the names Xaphan and Plague before until he remembered Ajax had spoken of them to the coven before as a warning. And now Karne said Clara may very well be entwined some way with one of them.... well that made things a little more interesting then they already where, maybe even exciting. DjinnShoe had yet to come across a creature of such power he had always pondered whether his own power would be lesser and he would finally be bested, a little fantasy of his. His own power so far limited by rules but never by strength.

“Well this all sounds wonderfully complicated” he mused his hands clapping together as he watched the door Karne announcing their impending arrival.
Walking out into the hall he followed Karne only a single step behind him. “Oh, she will be” he could sense the desperation, the agony as soon as the lift doors opened. Her whole being screamed of it, he didn't need to see her.

Once inside the smell left nothing to be desired. She had been living in squalor his eyes fell upon her as she looked at them obviously puzzled to why they were there. “Easy buttercup” he would have smiled but he found the expression hard to grasp in the face of her plight.
Her eyes moved to an empty spot and he knew exactly what she saw, though not who. He could only guess, then she snapped back to them once more. He Glanced at Karne before his attention moved once again to Clara and stayed there.

She wanted answers, he didn't really have any good ones and he doubted very much that Karne was about to do or say anything that would even be remotely soothing.
It was sort of funny really, He had no real concept on the way he should behave yet he knew he was probably a better bet then Karne when it came to compassion.
Clara walked away taking in some air before once again looking at the invisible man before back to them.
“We were in the neighbourhood..... you know how 'bros' like to hang” he shrugged walking over to her where he took her hand up to examine with out so much as a warning or pause in movements.
“Never told me you were a boxer.... or that you were going on some radical diet... secrets huh?” teasing would be his approach, at least he knew how to do that.
“I would have joined you”

He watched shoe try to talk to Clara as if she were that very same child, trying to warm her up by treating her with words coated in sugar and bullshit. While he left the man to his would be honey combed words, Karne looked about the place taking in the sight of it all, his hands pulling out a pack of cigarettes from his back pocket and plucking one for himself, he soon threw the carten across the room to Clara without so much of a question as to whether she'd want one or not, she certainly looked like she could use it and Karne hadn't come to paint a picture of roses for her, he was there to try to help the woman but she didn't need a bed of flowers, she needed a reality check.

As his head inclined back and he turned to look across to Clara with something of a disdained glance, he eyed her up and down before speaking up on his thoughts rather bluntly, "You look like a fucking mess woman, almost making me look good over here..." He exposed his left canine in a brief half smirk, trying to keep a light tone to the harsh truth and the mutual feelings they seemed to be sharing of late, though he hadn't explained to her just how fucked up his days had been over the time she'd been away, he hadn't thought it entirely relevant until now.

"I don't know why your head spin of a friend is here but I've my own news to bring and it's not going to please..." He lied. Lying was easy, it came naturally these days and though he had her best of intentions behind them, it didn't change the fact that Karne had been bred to decieve and to hurt people. He'd come to sit right with that truth, that he were simply a bad fucking case in a world of bad fucking cases. He didn't even show so much as a hint that his words were dishonest, yet still continued. "The Covenant's pulling out from this establishment, Arcane's fucked and I'm pulling us away from this shit hole..." The Covenant owned the building, Soul and Clara had been given the place while Soul was working for Karne, that had ended long ago and yet Karne had made no move to bring it up again with Clara, it was a business that he hadn't cared too much about letting it go as it still gave them a roof over their heads. Now however, she needed to be with people that gave half a fuck and the best place for her was the Black Wood Manor. "Once your done with this guy, get your things...-To protect the family, I'm gonna burn the whole thing to the ground. You're coming to stay with me and the kids back in the black-wood...." He flicked his cigarette against a half empty glass of orange liquid he could only presume to have been alcohol, it looked as if it hand't been touched in a couple days, not that he'd have cared. All this would soon be ash as far as she were to be concerned. Quite frankly, Karne didn't have any quarrel actually going through with the ordeal if she challenged him on it.

"And don't argue this time, you need a goddamn bath and I'm not leaving you here like this...", Clara didn't know him as well as most did but this was Karne's way of caring about the woman, he doubted she'd see things his way in the end but no one ever did and he had become so used to being the cunt in everyone's lives that he no longer tried to be subtle or fuck around with manners. "We've still got unfinished business, too..." He reminded her, his mind wandering to Luca and the matter of their agreement, the basement she and Cassandra had founded. None of which really needed any tending to but he saw it better that she actually think someone needed her around rather than an asshole like himself feeling sorry for her.

The truth was that as fucked up as Karne was at the time, he didn't wish to see anyone going through the bullshit he'd had to deal with in himself these last few months. He still to this day remained his own worse enemy.

He didn't hang around to listen to her rebuttle, instead he sought the kitchen to which he found the fridge and within, alcohol. Nothing but alcohol. It suited him fine as he seemed to survive on the shit these days just as it seemed she did though Clara was human, they had this fragility to them...-She couldn't go on like this, it'd end up killing her and Karne didn't fancy turning the girl just to keep her from ending it all.

Clara almost snorted a little at the bro comment. Shoe and Karne... not a pair that Clara thought she would have seen together. But then again Shoe was the type who didn't care or acknowledge if someone didn't like him, which she would bet Karne didn't.  Shoe came towards her and she flinched as he took her hands, examining then. She quickly pulled them free and frowned at him a little. She offered him a small smile however at his comments. She appreciated the concern even if she didn't want it.

Clara turned her attention to Karne as he tried to lighten the atmosphere, she raised a brown wondering if she were in fact imaging this as she didn't think Karne was capable of such a thing. She sighed and nodded to him, they had had their ups and downs, but she felt friendship towards him none the less. She swallowed as he said he was brining her bad news, she found herself stepping towards Shoe for some sort of support. Many things ran through her head, maybe someone else had died, maybe ... she didn't want to hear any more bad news, she couldn't bare anything else.

What Karne said next made sense, Arcane was lost to immortals now, but panic overcame her when he said he was going to burn the place down and she had to leave. ''No.'' She said quietly, everything else he said was lost to her, she looked at Soul, ''No. I'm not leaving. You'll have to burn it down with me in it. What about Cooper, what about about my home, what about the underground sanctuary Soul and I created? no!'' She shouted at him, stepping closer to him with pleading eyes. She knew he could force her to leave, she was only human, he could jus pluck her up and take her away and she was in no state for a physical fight.

''You can't.'' She said, feeling that if she had any tears left she would be crying, ''You can't destroy this place.'' She said, looking from him to Shoe. This was the only place she felt closest to Soul, it still smelt of him, his stuff was still everywhere, no, she couldn't leave it. ''You go, all of you go from Arcane, I'm not leaving Soul.'' She said glancing to Soul once more. ''Don't make me.'' She pleaded.

He didn't pay much mind to Karne or his approach towards Clara.
He removed his hands as she pulled them away from him and tried to give a strong front to them despite how terrible she looked and how terrible her surroundings had become.

Karne threw cigarettes over to Clara and when she made no move to collect them he stooped down taking them up. Looking them over he shrugged and put one in his mouth, taking a lighter from Clara's chair he lit it.
Shoe had never been a smoker but it seemed like if he were to take it up at some point now would probably be a good time.

Karne's words were like a knife to butter and Shoe could for once work out what his intentions were but he did not see it going all that well. He was right.
Panic filled the air as Clara stepped closer to him before surging closer to Karne in a frenzy of hysterical words as she again looked to an empty space, seeing something they did not.

With a sigh he stepped aside to watch the interaction, smoke building up around him as he inhaled. There was nothing he could do. He could not force Karne to change his words or his mind and he had no way of calming Clara who thought that she would be losing what she clung to in such desperation.
He waited for the inevitable break down, his eyes weary of where this would lead.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

He'd expected Clara would hate the news of the place being burned down, he'd gone so far as to pre-emptively warn her but now with her proving him right, in his mind it gave him a card to play, one that would ensure she come with him to the Black-wood, this was the only card that mattered in this little charade; he had come to help her and whether or not she wanted to accept it, he would so so.

"Fine, fine...-But Soul's a direct link to me, you know this...-I'm going to need a few days to go through his shit and this place needs to go dark, no affiliation with the Covenant anymore. That means you're going to have to come back with me regardless...-Like I said, you're not arguing that one. I'll leave the place standing for you to come back to when I'm sure the spotlights off of our backs but for the sake of my children, do as I ask Clara. I'm trying to ask you for a favor here...-You know I don't need to ask nicely..." Karne's head tilted forward and his eyes locked to hers, he didn't look at shoe who probably thought him a right bastard at the time, yet there was a method to his madness, one that he hoped would at the end of the day rid Clara of her own.

"Hope's taking the covenant off of my hands by the way, we've brought in the others across from Matashina, we need all the help we can get, the place is secure and you'll be safe there but these Ox-Corp bastards are malicious and I know Soul's worked closely with Bade recently...I know that Bade's related to you and I know that he will eventually come looking for more than you can give him..." his voice faded as he realized what Clara had said, she refused to leave Soul. She didn't mean the house itself, though it was their home, there was more behind her words, she still believed him to be there? Did she see him still?

"Soul was my brother Clara, I trained him to fight from the age of a small boy...-We have a history, a fucked up one sure but I loved that kid...-There's a hell of a lot I can tell you about what we got upto together before coming to Arcane. What we did for the human kind back in Chasin City...-You'd be proud of him..." He smiled a moment, and it appeared genuine for a change though seemed to fade as quickly as it'd come as he moved to closer approach her; "He had a lot of friends in the Covenant, and he had you...-Neither of which he would want to see put at risk. C'mon Kiddo, Cooper can watch the place while you're gone...-I won't touch it, I swear".

Karne seemed to give up on the burning the place down due to her pleadings, she sighed and closed her eyes briefly, it made sense what he was saying however, in her right mind she would have agreed. But the thought of someone else going through Soul's things, touching what remained of him, she couldn't stand it, even if it was Karne. In her mourning, she felt selfish. She looked up at Karne with eyes filled with the feeling of betrayal as he said she still needed to come with him, go back to the manor. No, she could not. She shook her head, mumbling to herself. She sat herself down on the arm of the sofa, gesturing to Shoe to give her one of the cigarettes. Even if she protested, even if she struggled, she knew Karne would not give up on making her leave her home.
Lighting the cigarette she seemed to be calming down a little, but she wasn't, not by any means. She listened to Karne filling her in on the things she was now so distant from, it seemed like another life, Hope, Marcus, Bade, the manor, all of it, all a distant memory when she was a very different person.  She glanced over to Soul again as Karne seemed to pause in his talking, she smiled softly at him to which he returned his own one.

Karne began to talk of his past with Soul, and she turned to look at him, giving him her proper attention which she had not given anyone in a long time now. ''I'm always proud of him.'' She returned the smile to Karne, but a pained one. In that moment, she wondered what Soul's life would have been like if he had not been pulled into all of the immortal side of it, if he had grown up ignorant of it. She imagined him happy and worry free with a normal human life, but that would never have been, for any of them.  She glanced down to the floor a moment before Karne continued on. ''I know you would stick to your word and not touch this place, but I can't leave it Karne. I just can't. Call me selfish, call me whatever you want but I am not leaving him again! All of this happened to him when I was gone, I am not going anywhere, never!'' She said, working herself up. ''You can try to force me, I don't care, I will keep coming back.'' She stood up abruptly and went towards Karne, ''Where were you when all of this happened to him? I will live with my choices for the rest of my life, for chasing a cure to what you lot are.'' She said with a look of disgust. ''If it wasn't for all of you, Luca would still be here...'' She began to break up a little, ''Soul....Soul would still be by my side. We wanted to get away from it all, we wanted to leave, he asked me to once.'' She didn't even notice that she was gripping onto Karne's shoulders now, ''We would have got married and had a family and he would have been an amazing father.. but now. Now because of... because of me, because of you, everyone like us, he is gone.'' She pulled herself onto Karne, burying her face into his shoulder, something she would never have done in a million years. ''Why did he do it? Why would he kill himself? I don't believe it for one moment, something happened.'' She said realising what she was doing to Karne, she stepped back, ''I wish he was alive. I wish he would come back.'' She said falling to her knees and shaking her head., the cigarette burning out on the ground beside her.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Shoebox on Fri 14 Apr 2017, 22:09

He felt as though he had been caught up in the middle of some horrendously complex and depressing soap opera as he stood in a some what awkward silence puffing away on his first cigarette while Clara and Karne hashed out just what they were both intending on doing in the future. Each of their plans clashing as he had expected them to as soon as Karne stated what he wanted.
Relationships were complicated and confusing Karne and Clara's seemed to be insanely so.

She had become quieter and a little less urgent as she motioned for him to pass her the cigarette. He moved over sensing that this was he calm before the storm.
Passing the box to her he stepped away once again. This time moving to a small side table where he began to fiddle idle with some little dusty nick nacks that they had lying around.

Things became heated again, fast. Clara was up and moving her words fast and pained. His attention rose again to watch, his hands moving away from the little ornaments as he watched Clara's body impact against Karne's, her sobbing crushing yet he still managed to hear her words.

"I wish he was alive. I wish he would come back.''

He froze, a choice being put before him in that moment. The answer was a very clear one yet he waited. He had never ever attempted such a thing, he had been asked and he had refused. He did not even know if it was possible. Dead meant Dead.
He moved closer to the two of them, uncomfortably close. His head lowering so he could eye Clara.
"You wish?"

Clara knew what he was. She had seen what he was and what he could do yet he was unsure whether she had meant for him to hear her words or whether they had been just for Karne.
It did not really matter though, he knew she meant them. She wanted Soul back, she needed Soul back.

"Ok..." he moved away shaking his arms out, bouncing upon his toes in a way a boxer would before a match.
There was no way to tell what would happen. His powers had never been pushed to such lengths and he had no idea what the price would be. Playing God and bringing Soul back would be crossing a boundary he had never been willing to cross before.

"She wishes" he shrugged raising his eye brows in a child like expressions as a grin fleetingly crossed his face his hands making a motion to indicate to Karne that they should probably move backwards towards the front of the flat, he himself taking four long steps backwards away from them.
"Well damn, call me the fairy God Mother" he chuckled his hands raising up at his sides, legs drawing together to stand in a steady cross formation.

Tensing hands into fists then releasing he flexed his fingers, having to do this numerous times before green whips of smoke began to coil outwards from his finger tips, rising off in tendrils like snakes from the flesh.
Swaying in an invisible breeze they turned upon him, trailing up his hands, arms and across his chest to ball up upon his chest.

A humming picked up within the flat's walls, the pipes starting to shake, small cracks forming in the plaster. Shoe's eyes closing, shutting himself away from them as he began to call on the full force of his power. Something he had never done before.

A few minutes passed and all was going to plan. The smoke had risen once again from his form, spreading out across the room, filling it from floor to ceiling in a mist.
Yet as the power increased do did the strain. Playing God was something he would have to pay for.  His eyes opening their vibrant colour dull, his arms starting to lower from their stance as another light, this one a yellow orb rose from his chest. Floating into the middle of the room where it glided onto the floor., its brightness increasing to a painful and blinding level.

Knees giving way, Shoe dropped, one hand going out to catch him, the other reaching out towards the light which suddenly began to grow. A darkness forming within the centre, growing with it, evolving into a shape.

"Come on now..." he breathed out, his body shaking as his eyes blurred, blood vessels bursting within, rupturing streams of blood from the tear ducts as a vice like feeling began to crush his chest.
"Steady" The light flickered, wavering and with it the form within had began to write, Shoe forcing himself up into his feet, falling forward the few steps it took to meet his creation.

Raising his hand up, he hovered it above the light the  darkness within taking on life, curling away from him until Shoe drove his hand downwards with as much force as he could. The light shattering, exploding back into Shoe, throwing him off his feet with force his spine crashing against the window frame of the flat, the glass shattering as he fell to his knees, the light returning back into his body. The form of a naked human, left curled up and fully formed where the orb had been.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

The struggle between light and darkness was an eternal battle that spanned the histories of man kind beyond legend, the morality between right and wrong born from religion and spirtuality, taking from the existance of Angels and Demons, Gods and Destroyers and while Soul had previously seen reason to believe in some, if not all of these stories, he had experienced none of it since his sudden and abrupt end within the Blackwood. What he'd seen in the last moments of his breath were indescribable, some sort of specter or wraith trailing him in a blanket of smoke before lashing out at him. At the time the image had been clear cut in his mind and yet when all was said and done, they were memories that wouldn't outweigh the physical and spirtual trauma that had been forced upon him. In his death he had been torn from the veil of the living realm and purged into nothingness; no lake of fire nor gates of gold, he simply ceased to exist, all was as dead as he was and nothing connected the suspiciouns of man nor immortal. People they had known had been dragged into the abyss and come back to tell of what they had seen, yet Soul was not of their ill luck, nor of the fortunate few who had witnessed the bliss of God's Kingdom.

Life returned to him as quickly as it had been purged from his control, his heart surged into a frenzied pace as his body was brought to the apartment he had once called home, by forces unknown to him, warmth came to his senses, his body able to feel again yet his strength to far gone to try to resist whatever was becoming of him, his eyes remained shut and his throat couldn't usher a word in want for protest. Blinding flashes of pain caused his back to arch, his body to spasm as his soul was removed from the next life, whatever part of it had rendered him non-existant, be it purgatory or some other punishment for his sins, he knew nothing of the visions that Clara had been having of him, his spirit well and far out of her reach, her excuse a lapse of sanity in his absence.

The floor felt hard. It was the first thing his brain was able to make sense of, his fingers stretching out against it as the light of Shoe's power subsided from around him, naked though he knew it not, he lay on his side trying to pry at the floor boards as if they held some kind of answer for their sudden being under him. It was all too difficult to make sense of, as if having to remember how to operate his own body again, as if for a time if had no longer been a part of himself, he forced his eyes to open yet his pupils still greyed from the physical effect of death, he glared at the wooden floor in a haze of disorientation, making little in the way of movements nor acknowledgement to the others. He couldn't see beyond the rebirth of his consciousness, as if everything had been out of order for centuries, and his nerve endings firing as they attempted a hard restart of his mind trying to work out just what the hell was going on.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Karne Reign on Mon 22 May 2017, 12:01

"You wish?...Okay"

Karne turned to look across the room to Shoe who seemed to respond to Clara out of the blue, acting and sounding as if he had the answers to her suffering in the palms of his hands. Scoffing to himself under his breath, he turned side on from Clara, standing beside her now rather than trying to stand over her in the hope of intimidating her out of this desperate need to cling to what Karne had assumed was long since gone, looking instead to the newcomer of which he knew next to nothing of, with his head cocked back in wild skepticism.

"Oh sure, encourage her..."

He responded with nothing short of attitude as he threw Shoebox a slight glare as if to tell him not to interferre. Naturally, had Karne known just that little bit more about this particular entity, he wouldn't have tried to disuade him, however what he would soon witness would educate the Vampire to his own disregard of their company.

Something changed in the aptmoshphere around them as Shoe looked back to Karne and shot him a look in response that told him without words that the man needed some space. Eager to play along, if not only to see just what kind of cards this bloke could pull from his sleeve with his magic tricks and apparent loss of mind, Karne stepped back closer to the outskirts of the room, his right hand reaching out protectively of Clara, not asking but more to the point pushing her back first while he remained in the lead and ready to act should this stranger actually have some sort of threat to his name. If it came to their well-being, though Karne had nothing against shoe other than his somewhat annoying lack of social understanding and empathy in relating to others, Karne wouldn't hesitate to plunge a blade into his throat if it meant keeping Clara from any further harm. Though the two weren't exactly friends, she'd been through enough and simply by being the love of Soul's life, it was enough to coerce Karne into caring about what was to become of her.

His brows furrowed, meeting in the middle atop his nose as he narrowed his gaze upon Shoe, he of whom had suddenly become surrounded in a circle of smoke and green light, that which marked the floorboards in darker tone than the rest, as if the presence of his sudden power were slowly burning away at the timber beneath him during this apparent summoning. Glancing briefly to Clara, he threw her a sideways glance as if in warning before looking back to that of shoe, he of whom seemed to be talking to himself, the circle around him growing ever so brightly until the background noise behind him was blocked from their sight completely.

If this was all some sort of natural power, Karne wouldn't have suspected it; there were many forms of power and yet that which Shoe was summoning forth caused the very air around them to grow thick, their shoulders to fall heavy as if the world and the fabric of their realm itself were being shaped, molded to suit their desires, bent and realigned by the magics of this...-Whatever the fuck he was. Genie's ? If someone were to tell Karne that he would witness such a thing in his life, he might have laughed in their face yet for whatever his doubts, the evidence lay before him in the form of two figures, shoe who had fallen to his knees and appeared to be struggling with his hold over such a show of spiritual manipulation and...-Who the fuck was that...

"Soul..."

The name escaped him, he barely recognized the sound of his fallen brothers birthright yet it came without conscious effort, his eyes widening as he could make out the body of the man who had last plunged a knife into his own back attempting to eradicate him from this world before then killing himself. How was this possible...-Karne stepped back slowly, so that he was now side by side with Clara, no longer so eager to withstand the ordeal as her shield but instead joining her in mutual astonishment, shock and disbelief.

"How...-The fuck ?"

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Requiem on Thu 27 Jul 2017, 18:58

Clara had so many unanswered questions regarding Soul's death, so many that she could hardly bare it. Seconds after she was on her knees, Shoe stepped back, talking of Clara's wish. It took her a moment to realise, she had almost forgotten what he could do, but to bring someone back from the dead? It was not possible, not through a wish. She glanced up through the mess of her hair as green smoke erupted from Shoe, was he really doing this? Could he do this? She didn't believe it, and nor did Karne by the sounds of things.

She felt a moment of anger, why would he try? She didn't understand exactly what Shoe was or what he was capable of, but this would be too much for him, even attempting it might have caused major side affects from him, he was not God, and playing God would surely have a consequence. ''Shoe...'' She muttered, ''Sto...'' She began, pausing as an orb of light came from his chest, landing in the middle of the room. It was almost blinding. Clara watched as the orb seemed to palpitate, as though a heart slowly beating back to life. Her breath quickened, her own heart pounding. She looked through the light and could see Shoe struggling, his eyes bleeding. Clara stood, ''Shoe, Stop! It's impossible!'' She shouted.

Clara looked from Shoe, to the light and then to Karne. He had no clue what was happening. She couldn't help but have a little hope that Shoe could do, selfishly wanting him to continue despite his pain. She paused in this thought, looking at Karne with squinted and cried out eyes before she shook her head to herself, making a turn forwards towards Shoe, arm out. She would grab him and make him stop, even he could die, and he just might if he continued. Before she knew it, she was thrown back by a force that Shoe seemed to create, knocking the wind out of her. She protected her head, holding her arms out before her, only looking up when she heard Karne say his name.

Clara moved slowly, holding her breath as she lowered her arms, clearing her path of vision to see ..him, he was sitting, naked, as though reborn, ''Soul...'' she gasped in astonishment... she didn't know what to think or to feel, she could hardly breath in that moment. She faltered, was this her mind playing tricks on her too? Was this all some cruel hallucination?

Clara slid herself across the floor towards his figure, as she neared him she felt scared. When she was close enough she held her hand out to his arm, pausing a moment before touching it. Her body convulsed as she began to cry, not realising she was. She looked over the all too familiar bare arm and traced his body, moving around to the front of him, she looked at his face, bringing her hand out to his cheek and raising his head, ''Soul?'' She asked with trembling lips. He was real, he was really real..... she glanced from him to Karne, ''He's real...'' before pulling Soul into her embrace.

Re: Driven to madness (Karne, Shoe and Soul.)

Post by Shoebox on Wed 23 Aug 2017, 21:47

He remained down his head low his body propped upon his hands and his knees as the ringing within his ears drowned out all sound around him, burning through his senses until he felt physically sick.
The pain was unlike anything he had witnessed before, it's intensity knocking the air away from him, making his chest fight for breath. Bloody eyes blinking to try and once again clear his vision.

For what seemed like an eternity he remained that way until the ringing subsided enough for background noises to filter their way back to him. His head rose to take in the blurry forms towards him as they gasped in shock at the life he had created before them.

Clara had moved, quickly across the room to the new Soul, Karne shocked understandably.
Dragging himself up to his feet he stumbled his back hitting against the door frame once again, the pain where his spine had connected with it moments before shocking him into more coherence.
He remained quiet and respectful, despite the state he was in he could see that it had worked, Soul was back and finally Clara would be happy again. Karne he cared about a lot less but even then he was happy Karne had his friend back.

Starting to slowly walk he kept his left hand against the wall to steady him. It was time for him to leave. They had to be alone together, the three of them to help Soul come back into the world with his mental state in tact.

He left the room without so much as a word to any of them. His job done, his will satisfied.
Feet automatically carried him to the lift then down into the pub, a shocked looking Cooper sending him towards the back door.
"Thank you" he murmured less exuberant then usual before stepping out into the night exhausted and needed to return home.
