Out for blood (Ajax) Mature

Post by Eve on Wed 23 Aug 2017, 19:45

Dusk, the perfect time of day. mothers would be putting their babes down to rest, reading stories and remembering tails of the past in hopes that their young would be whisked off to a dream world where no harm would befall them. Any woes and fears of monsters beneath the bed would be quelled, lights expelling the shadows from their confines to deter ease worrying minds. On this evening the clouds were drifting through the sky lazily and bats were moving out from their caverns to catch prey. It would appear that all was right in the world.. at least for the mortals.

Elsewhere, away from the city lights and thrum of machinery, there was movement within the trees. A predator moved stealthily. Small woodland creatures scurried out of the way, not wishing to be caught and perhaps made dinner. She had not wished to dine upon their meaningless lives this day. She was out for something larger and far more appetizing. Crystal blue eyes reflected the light with an eerie glow as she weaved through the shadows. She had been here before, long ago. this was her home and it was her playground. At times, she could almost hear the screams as the wind pushed invisible finger tips through obsidian hair. The screams seemed to be calling her towards a building; yet, she hesitated. This haunt had not been called home for her in many years, so long in fact she believed the new residents may not even know her. Had so much time gone by that not even the halls would recognize her being? Eyes narrowed as she turned away from the building that had been part of the Matashina family for ages. Perhaps the deaths had taken over. That thought sent a wicked shiver down her spine in delight. The deaths had always been a fun family. Fate had taught her well enough before casting her a side.

There was only one here that she dreaded seeing. Would he remember her or had his mind gone dark like the building that she had turned her back on. The female growled, a low primal sound, as she headed back towards the mountain. To a place that had truly been called home. Bare feet touched the stone, warmed from the rays of the days sun. Each step was practiced and calculated. One misstep along the edge would send any would be mountain climber to their death. Delicate fingers touched the side of the stone before she slipped into the crevasse. Several steps forward and she was greeted with a familiar scent. The further she went, her eyes adjusted to the low light. Around her the cavern opened. Furs were tattered and destroyed. She would have to get new ones. The fire pit needed tending; but, what drew her here was further back. As she continued deeper into the lair she was welcomed with the scent of water. The fresh hot spring that had healed so many wounds and kept her warm had not been depleted or tainted.

It was here that she removed her leather jacket, letting it drop to the floor carelessly. Her  leggins were next and form fitting top that had various tears in it was the last piece. She stood, nearly bare, admiring the water before stepping foot into the warmth. Steam rolled off her skin as she slowly submerged herself. Her back turned to the entrance as she closed her eyes, the only thing out of the water was her head from her nose up. Long tendrils that had a life of their own moved along the surface of the water, caressing her cheek and untangling any knots that the wind had caused within their silky tresses. It was here that she found a peace, even if it was only temporary.

It had been a busy few weeks for Matthew, his recovery from being hit with the UV silver bullet had been a slow one but he had been quiet about it, after all it was generally unheard of for a vampire to survive such rounds at all. He was not one to complain.
He had been doing some jobs here and there and followed instruction from Hope Death-Reign the new Co-coven leader with Ajax to help Knigh down at the docks.

He had neglected him scouting and not been back to the Matashina lands to check it over for some weeks. They had lost it to the control of Ox corp but he still liked to see just what was going on and how far things had fallen in a way of providing Intel to the new coven members but also in a way of keeping him busy and out of the confines of four walls. He had never been a home body and was struggling with having to be in one place.

Hiking through the mountain ranges after having checked out the city he wrinkled his nose an odd yet very familiar scent coming his way. "It can't be..."
He had only very recently became aware of Ajax's losses, Sauri and Eve, the coven master had kept it to himself for a long time yet eventually informed those closest to him. But now the scent met him and there was no mistaking it.

Hiking further he paid attention to every detail around them. Ajax had said he had seen her corpse, lay in a grave with it and there was no way he could have been wrong, he knew Eve better then anyone else.
"Who's up there?" ahead on the trail he heard the familiar sound of pressure upon the earth.
"Genevieve is that you?"

The silence around her was relaxing, sending her into a meditative state. Within that state she could recall being captured, tortured, and then nothing. The visions were so vivid that she visibly flinched and sent ripples of water away from her. Rolling her shoulders beneath the water, trying to relax further, her mind went back to a time when there was no war and no major fight for her life. It had seemed just yesterday, then again, to her it was. She had no idea how much time had been gone. The memory of what happened after darkness was gone.

As she began to push herself deeper into meditation to recall what happened footsteps brought her back with a jolt. Her eyes opened and nostrils flared as she took in the scent. It was too far to detect but the footsteps were less sure than her own. Whomever it was had followed her up here. "Damnit" She thought bitterly. Somehow she had forgotten to change her chemistry to mask her scent. How did a simple detail evade her? Carefully, she rose out of the water and headed towards the den entrance. If there was one thing she had always been sure of it was her body. Modesty? There was none.. She was a huntress and warrior within her own right. Clothing would only hinder her if she needed to change and strike. There was a voice echoing off the walls and at first she did not place it. Then the memory of a young fledgling came back to her and a name fell from her lips.  "Matthew." Was the only word she uttered before moving towards the entrance of her lair to meet him head on. What would become of her from here? Would the Vampire see her as a threat after her absence? The what ifs and possibilities ran through her mind. Any outcome was possible and every scenario had to be analyzed so she would live. Her hair moved around her, leaving droplets of water as she moved. The ringlets furled and uncurled, licking at her back and arms.

When she approached the entrance she stopped, seeing him moving up the side of the mountain. The look on his face read confused. Her eyes looked over him, he had not changed, Vampires rarely changed in their looks, it was their eyes that would tell the story. She took a deep breath and in that worked out the chemistry of his body. He had been through an ordeal recently but had come out alive. There was a scent on him, faded but there. He had been around Ajax which made goosebumps prick up on her flesh. "Did anyone follow you?" She inquired before he might say anything. She wished not to have the world find her lair. By this point in the evening the sun was past the horizon and the sky was darkening so the stars and a waning moon illuminated the sky. "Where is everyone?" Questions flooded her mind, questions she wanted answers to.

As he reached the cave where Genevieve and Ajax used to spend so much time she came out to meet with him, her nudity noted but ignored as he looked upon her in silence. He was sure it was the same Eve they had all known and called one of their own yet so long had passed and she was dead. Or so they thought.
"What do you think?" the comment came out automatically, almost hostile. If she was who she appeared to be she would know him well and would know he would never allow himself to be followed so easily. He had hundreds if not thousands of years on her, he was not fool enough to lead enemies to them.

"What are you doing here?" he asked slipping his coat from his shoulders to hand it to her. Her body was for Ajax's eyes alone not for his. "You are supposed to be dead. Ajax saw you"
Matthew was known to be blunt. He was uncomfortable and unsure of the situation, being tactful really didn't come into it.

Her question was some what of a loaded one. He sighed glancing up to the skies. Lacrimosa was no longer their home. They had lost control of it and the only thing it had to offer them now was death by soldier or by starvation. They had lost and that had been a bitter pill for them to swallow. Especially the elders such as him, they were not used to losing.

"Everyone is gone. Human soldiers won. It is not safe. Ajax took our..his people and joined with the Death-Reign covenant. They are safe for now but the humans... they are called Ox Corp. Are everywhere and it is only a matter of time before our new home falls"

As she waited for a response her dark eyes narrowed on the surrounding area. Nostrils flared as she drew in his scent again along with the others carried upon the breeze. How had she not noticed that the land was untouched by "their" kind and instead the humans had forsaken it. This did not make any sense to her. First she had not cloaked herself and now she was missing very key details. The thought made her scowl as she looked back to Matthew when he spoke. His tone at her accusation made her bristle and bite her tongue and repress a growl of annoyance. As he went to hand her his coat she shook her head, tendrils of hair lengthening along her body to cover herself.

His question as to why she was here seemed naive. "I have every right to be here as much as you." She bit out quickly before he continued his explanation as to the war and her death. "Dead? No..I.." Eve drew in a breath to center herself as the energy around her ebbed and flowed from her confused state. "I was not dead..I.. Pausing she took a hard look at him to determine if it was true. This would explain why he had seemed shocked at finding her. "This Ox-Corp. They killed me? You saw them kill me?" Her last memory was of the necromancer holding her hostage and draining of her life source before it went dark. Had that very being only used her to get to Lacrimosa and the beings that dwell here?

Turning she headed inside of the cavern "Come then, somehow I have missed or forgotten much while I was away" This war that had just been starting what felt like days ago, had escalated into a slaughter. Perhaps she had died, it might explain a few of the bruises and scars she had but the lapse in memory? She shook her head, tresses falling from around her to expose her once more. When she came back into the main room of her lair she finally looked, really looked at it. Her clothes were gone from before, most of the furs had dry-rotted and were falling apart. It had been more than a few weeks since she was last year. Her spine straightened and she whipped around with hatred in her eyes "Where the fuck is everyone Matthew? What do you mean by his people? Who is still here?" He had said Ajax had taken his own people away to the Deaths. Fate was no longer there and she doubted any of the Death's would remember her from when she was just a child. 'They have destroyed my home and if they truly did kill me, than the Gods have given me back and I will not throw this second life away. Where is Ajax?" As her anger flared around her the energy made her eyes lighten and glow, her hair curled around her neck and arms in a protective shield. This was her home and she would be damned to just roll over and let these humans take it. Lacrimosa would belong to them again, if she had to drain every last person of their soul.

"No I did not see anyone kill you. But I assure you that you were dead Eve. Someone or something killed you. Ajax looked for you for months. While the world we knew fell around us and the coven was defeated he looked and he never found you. Until recent weeks. He spoke of finding you.. your body and he said he climbed within the earth and he lay with you there.
He was telling her to much, this was personal to Ajax, he was surprised he had told even him about it.

She was reacting with anger but that wasn't really something new to him. Though in this case it was entirely pointless. Ox Corp were to many to beat, they were to strong to topple and should she go out to do them harm she would just end up back in the earth from whence she came. And once more he would have to tell Ajax that the woman he had loved was dead.
"Do not demand things of me Eve" he replied with a cool tone as she started to bristle at him her questions filled with fury. Maybe she was right to feel it but he would be damned if he let her direct them towards him. No matter how she ended up where she did she had still made a choice to walk away for what ever reason otherwise they would have known where to find her in the beginning.
"As I said before the covens have merged. Matashina and Death-Reign are joined. They now reside together in as much safety as our kind can hope to have in days like these, Ajax is with them. He protected them where others did not"

She turned her back to him, drawing in a deep breath to calm her nerves. When had she become so, emotional? She had spent her years as an emotional creature and had learned to control it. To have it reoccur concerned her, but not as much as the fact that she had clearly missed so much. She took these moments to reflect on what Matthew had said thus far. When she turned to face him, she had taken a breath and had calmed herself. "Yes, you have told me what has happened and where he may be as if I know. The Deaths were ones to travel from place to place and, with the fact that I am not as up to date on current affairs, perhaps you would take me directly to him?"

She walked away from him, heading back to where the spring was so she could gather her clothes in anticipation. If he said no than she would have to take it upon herself to track him down. "Unless you prefer that I track him down myself and that may lead to further conflict between the immortals and this Ox Corp." Her eyes glinted with mischief as she scooped up her clothing and began to get dressed. "I suppose the first place I should start is the old estate. I do need to pick up my old things that..." Eve hesitated for a moment before regaining her composure and turning to him "Ajax had my things stored in his room. I will find my way in to get my items and then meet you back here so you can take me to his current residence." Eve stood in front of Matthew then, waiting for a response.

(Sorry it's short love! I am swamped at work and wanted to knock it out so you didn't have to wait!)

She asked that he directed her to Ajax but what she said next he did not appreciate. Not one bit. His eyes narrowed upon her his jaw becoming tight as fingers clenched into fists.
Matthew was not know for having the best of tempers and he was also not well known for having impulse control, not control that his years on earth would suggest he should have anyway.

Eve was rubbing him up the wrong way and she should have known better. He didn't care who she was, he didn't care what stature she had in his master's life, she would talk to him with respect as the rest of the coven and those in his life would, his age demanded it, he demanded it. He was no lacky and for her to threaten his coven and his people in a way to force his hand whether that be in such a passive aggressive way or not was not the way to get anything from him.

"Do not threaten me Eve... I don't know what you have been though but watch who the hell you are talking to. You dare to try and force me into helping you?"
Despite Ajax pain and the fact that Eve had been a coven member for a long time he found himself bitterly wishing she had stayed down if this was what she intended on being like.

"I will take you to him when you are ready. But I do this for him. Do not mistake my actions. This is not for you"

A smile crpt across her face as he spoke and the tension was palpable. He was trying desperately to control himself and keep his cool and it was a battle he would probably lose if she pressed harder. Why was it no one ever paid attention? This is who she is, and who she was. sure she enjoyed the game, enjoyed the hunt even; however, her intentions were very clear here and now. "I don't make threats, Matthew. You have made it very clear to me that there is something going on here that is much greater than whether or not your pride or ego is hurt." Tactful? Probably not, but Eve had never been one to beat around the bush.

She moved over and stood a few feet in front of him, there would be no backing down from this fight and if anything this was just but a mere pebble in her way. "Very well then. I will go acquire my items and you can leave. I will find the rest of the coven. That way, Matthew, I will not put anyone from your family in harms way. If I do; than I will allow you to be the one to kill me for it." He had made it very clear that she was not a part of the coven or their "people" and "family" anymore. If that was the case than she was a rogue and would do whatever she saw fit. "How does that sound? You are free to tell him whether you saw me or not. Your conscious can be clear and Ajax won't owe you for bringing me to him. You can even state that I decided to find him myself, which is entirely accurate." Her shoulders rolled and her hair cascaded down her back, the tendrils rubbing along her body and areas of exposed skin gently.

Eve's head was cleared, she knew what she was doing and her tone was relaxed but matter of fact. There would be no question as to her motives which were rather obvious. No manipulating. She needed answers and Matthew could not answer it. Ajax could and should he decide not to then she would leave them and do whatever she needed to in order to survive. Crystal eyes watched him carefully now to see what his response would be.

She fronted him moving over in response to the attitude he had given her in retaliation to her domineering demands. He eyed her with a careful gaze, not a fool he knew what she could do and she also knew the same of him. They had been the same coven after all.
Her words were twisting his making it out as though he had cast her from the family. He grit his teeth had she not tried to manipulate him with the risk of her leading Ox Corp right to the family he would not have bristled the way he did and she was no fool she knew that. He had no idea why she was seeming to try and antagonise him.

Squeezing the bridge of his nose between his fingers he growled at how infuriating she was being. This was exactly why he and Ajax fought so often. He could not cope with the self righteousness of immortals. Despite being one he often needed to travel far away from the others hence Ajax having given him a job in the field back when they had been based in Lacrimosa.

He didn't trust Eve, not now. He would have back before everything changed but the fact was she had been gone a long time and she could have been compromised in any number of ways. What Ajax would do upon finding out she lived was really an unknown to him especially with Ajax being the way he had been. It was all to much and at the worst possible time.
"God.. stop being so fucking Awkward" he snapped drawing his phone up to his ear Ajax's number already dialled and starting to ring.
"I swear to God if this breaks him we will all fall. There will be nothing left"
If Ajax cracked now Hope would be left alone and their covens would fall.

Re: Out for blood (Ajax) Mature

Post by Eve on Thu 31 Aug 2017, 00:07

His stubbornness truly did see no end. She had given him the perfect opportunity to wash his hands of whatever guilt he might harbor after this. Their kind, no matter how long lived they were, could still feel guilty and resentment no matter how "superior" they thought themselves. Matthew was no different than the rest of them, and she was not above this acception. Her eyes narrowed as she waited for his response and when it came, she bit her cheek to keep herself from smiling. " He would find out sooner or later." she acknowledged and attempted to reassure him. Whether Ajax found out from Matthew or on his own would not change the outcome. If he even wanted to see her, it was up to him. There was no preventing what was going to happen.

Eve took a step back then and turned away. She decided to let him break the news to Ajax how he saw fit and do it without her hovering. She had pressured and manipulated him enough to have him make the call, if it even was to Ajax. The least she could do was give him some privacy when he did it. To keep herself occupied, she began to clean up. The old items would have to be disposed of, burned actually. They were tattered and dry rotted to the point that some of them just fell apart when she picked them up. Cleaning this place was going to be a chore but it would get done. She would have to hunt, skin, and tan new hides. Even though the female was within the "modern" society, she still carried out her old ways. Ways that were comfortable to her. Hunting was a large part of that and she figured she would be hunting the mortals soon enough. They would not be treated as the animals that she used for food. No..they would be hunted, slaughtered, tortured even, until they regained their own haunts back.

Then, whether she was welcome back or not, she would return here and let everyone go about their business. At least then she might be able to show Matthew and Ajax that she was back and to help them. As she continued, her mind drifted to what had happened, or what she thought had happened. Why was there such a gap between then and now? Was she dead? Was it a spell? The necromancer had found a way to trap her and draw out her very essence. If this Ox Corp was using a Necromancer to kill Immortals or learn about their weaknesses, that could be the very reason why they had become so strong. This was a theory that she would have to keep to herself and hold onto for the time being. At least until she knew who she could trust and if her theory was correct.

Re: Out for blood (Ajax) Mature

Post by Matthew M on Thu 31 Aug 2017, 11:16

As the phone rang he watched her with a scathing glance. He wasn't used to being treated the way she was treating him and he obviously didn't like it. He had never had a problem with her before but it seemed times had changed. He just hoped that she wasn't about to bring trouble down ontop of them when they were already trying hard to keep their heads above the water.

"Ajax" a voice on the other end of the line broke him out of his thoughts Genevieve had moved away thankfully and Matthew also now began to walk back out the way he had come in. Leaving the cave system to walk around the woods as he carefully and slowly explained to the rather stunned and quiet Ajax what he had found and what had been happening.
As he thought Ajax was stunned, it wasn't often that he found the coven master had been at a loss for words but he had expected it.

The conversation was kept to minimal details. Matthew not about to ask Ajax to tell him how he felt. He may have been his father via their sire lin but that was not the type of relationship the two of them boasted. They didn't do emotions and they certainly didn't cry or hug it out.

Finishing up the conversation he pocketed the phone running both his hands over his face as he looked up to the skies. "God help us" he groaned before turning and heading back to the she devil waiting for him in the caves.

"He believed me" he called out to her walking until he found her once more.
"He does not wish for you to come and find him. Not yet. He wants to see you. I have told him you are here and I have told him you will wait here for him. Can you do that?" he stared at her, it was not a difficult request but seeing as how awkward she was being he didn't know what to expect. "He will be here by sunrise"

Re: Out for blood (Ajax) Mature

Post by Eve on Thu 31 Aug 2017, 11:56

Eve had watched Matthew leave and decided to keep herself busy. There was much to do here, and much to think about as well. Everything that was trash, which was pretty much everything, was casually tossed into a pile and steadily growing by the minute. As she picked things up, she had uncovered a rose. It had long since wilted and at this point dried out. Her fingers picked it up from its place, eyes fixating on it before she sat down. This rose was given to her by Sauri. She and the sister had been close friends, perhaps the only friend Eve had ever truly had. Sauri, while skeptical at first, had finally opened up to the idea of she and Ajax being together. The female wondered where Sauri was and if she had made it. Matthew had not made any indication of her death.

Her fingers gently spun the rose so she could see all angles. It was delicate at this point. Leaves shriveled and petals as fragile as crystal. One touch in the wrong spot would sent pieces of them falling to the ground. Eve sat there thinking and trying to remember the faces of the Coven members. When Matthew came back in she turned her head and looked at him with glossy eyes. She nodded her head in acknowledgement to his request of her staying put here. That she could manage to do"Matt..." She spoke quietly now, afraid to ask the question. "Is Sauri still alive?" It was a hard question, one she did not wish to ask Ajax. Clearly her return was enough of a shock and she had enough empathy to not deal him another blow by asking him. Matthew would hopefully tell her.

Watching him carefully, her hair moved about her to comfort her. Somehow she knew the answer would be "No" which meant Ajax had lost the two closest people to him. He would be a changed man. This was something she had to come to terms with. Whether she was accepted back or left here alone to deal with whatever the consequences of returning were. Matthew was still there; but, even she knew he would not have the relationship that the siblings shared. No one would. "Thank you Matthew." She said, before he could answer her question. He had contacted Ajax and had even informed her of what had happened. He didn't have to, she knew that. The man at least deserved the gratitude if the world came crashing down around them.

As he waited for some smart ass comment or an argument about staying put until Ajax arrived he watched her turn to look at him. She carried a totally different expression now, a much more vulnerable one and as she spoke he saw that her stance towards him had totally changed.
Now Matthew was not Mr forgiving. He would not just forget the way he had been spoken to but the question she asked of him softened the anger he felt towards her for the attitude of before.

The question brought him a great deal of pain as well. He had tried not to react to the news Ajax had given him telling him how Sauri for all he knew had died.
Ajax may have been his sire but Sauri was also his coven mistress. He missed her and it had been a savage blow to lose her. Everyone was feeling it. They had all lost so much and endured so much pain. He knew more was coming too but he had to hold it together Ajax wasn't doing such a good job, He was hiding it but Matthew had known him an age. Ajax was failing and they couldn't stop it for now they would just have to ignore it.

" Sauri is gone" she didn't need him to speak. She could see it on his face.
"He looked for her for a long time... as he did you" Eve had been close to Sauri, he knew it would be painful.
"We have never found her, but she is gone he can't feel her any longer"

It was time for him to go. Ajax would be arriving soon and he didn't want to be anywhere near that reunion.
"Unless you need anything I will be leaving now. He will be here soon"

The disheartened energy he was putting off was clear, Sauri had died. No words were needed, although he spoke them anyway. The truth of it hit her like a hot knife through her heart. Her shoulders slumped in defeat and eyes closed. She turned her head away from him and her fingers enclosed around the stem of the rose. She built up her wall to keep her feelings and energy to herself, if she was not careful at containing it , she could very well lash out and push her emotions onto Matthew. He didn't need that, she didn't want that. Her feelings were her own and he had his own.

"No, I do not require anything else at this time. Take care Matthew." Eve would not look back at him, her heart was bleeding with pain and she was close to losing her control. Once he left she could take some time, hopefully before Ajax arrived, to re-center herself. It was a delicate line she was walking. One misstep and she would come crashing down. Staying in control was in her best interest and until she was completely alone, no Matthew, no Ajax, no one, then she could seek out that sweet release.

She was angry, primarily at herself, she should have been here to help them. To fight with them; then, perhaps, Sauri would be alive. Ajax would not be alone. The Coven would be stronger. One being can make all the difference in the world! Yet she was no where. She wasn't here, she was trapped or dead. Her body apparently cast into a ditch or grave for Ajax to find. Somehow she had to do right, if not for him than for whomever was left.

Re: Out for blood (Ajax) Mature

For some time after the phone line had died leaving nothing but a dull tone Ajax held the mobile device against his ear, unseeing eyes staring at a wall seeing nothing at all his mind reeling from the words Matthew had spoken to him.
They replayed over and over again within his mind. Ajax must have heard them wrong, what his son said could not be true. But over and over they replayed and over and over again he knew that the words Matthew spoke were the truth. He would have never lied to him about such a thing.

He was stuck in a loop. Lost in the shock of it all. He had lain in the earth cradling the corpse of his one love. He had smothered the dead flesh in kisses, he had sobbed upon decaying flesh and to think that life had now returned to those cold limbs, light had returned to those dull eyes was just to much for him to comprehend.

He was a broken man. The last decade had ravaged his mind. The ancient curse had began to rear its ugly head. They all fell into insanity eventually and he had started falling. The Death of Genevieve and Sauri had pushed him from the thin ledge he had been clinging to. And now suddenly Eve lived.

It must have been an hour or more before the phone fell from his hand. The trance like state he had fallen into suddenly falling away. He moved vanishing from the coven only to arrive in the Mountaintop ranges near Lacrimosa only minutes later.

He knew the way. He could have found the exact cave blinded. Her scent was there, it flooded him causing him to gasp his knees feeling weak. Usually calm eyes glinting with the red shine of vampiric tears.
Never had anyone had the ability to provoke such vulnerable emotion from the coven master and never again did he expect to feel these emotions. Love had died and now suddenly once again it had burst forth.

Minding his head he stepped into the cave system, walking a short way to where he and Eve often would lay. Her home away from their home. And there she was looking just as fearsome and beautiful as ever. He faltered the breath leaving him as though he had suffered a physical blow. "How can this be?"

How much time had she truly lost? She didn't know and could not have asked Matt. The two of them may not see eye to eye for a while but there was still hope of learning what she had missed and helping. After she knew that Matthew had gone did her body shudder and a waterfall of emotions stormed down her cheeks. Time slowed down when she began to cry, clutching the rose within her hand. She was careful not to break it. This little reminder of what had been and was now gone.  "I'm so sorry Sauri.. I should have been here. Maybe i could have saved you.." she sobbed as tears fell off her cheeks. It was impossible for her to contain every little bit of pain that she was feeling. From the news of her being dead to the death of Sauri, it was all too much. She did not know how much time had passed before she stopped and was only left with the rattling of her nerves.

Her body was still shaking when she heard a noise behind her. Her breath caught in her chest as she tried to restrain from shaking turning around to face who she knew would be there. Upon turning her head she saw the man that had her heart. His eyes were red and there was a stain in the corner of them. He looked tired, the energy was palpable. She felt his shock which meant he had seen her dead. Matthew was telling the truth. There had been a small doubt in her mind but now that doubt had been washed away at the sight of him. He had seen her die and now he was seeing her alive once more. The shock had to be unmeasureable and one that she could only feel from him. As an empath she could tell what others were feeling, complex emotions which were actually quite simple even though no one knew how to describe them. She could feel all of it and her relationship with a person only made the feelings, or energy, they put off, easier for her to feel and decipher.

Without so much of a second thought, she carefully set the rose down, before thrusting herself towards him. Her arms wrapping around him and tears once more falling from her eyes. "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry...It's me..  I didn't know.. I wasn't here.. I wanted to be.. I.. I'm so sorry.." She repeated over and over again, her fingers clutching his shirt. her long ebony hair moving to seek him out. Her body shuddered as the emotions took over her. Eve had not given herself time to take in his full look but she was now taking in his scent as her hair and hands held him to her.

He stared at her in what probably looked like open horror, his mind recalling the sight of her month old corpse, the decay he had found. The scent of the eaten away flesh. He had touched her with love then as he had done when she lived and it had haunted him for every single moment since.

She moved towards him and he initially stepped a slight pace backwards unable to accept that this was real, he had longed for her to come back to him since he had lost her. He had called out to the skies, the moons, the stars and any Deity he could fathom for her to be returned and all he had been met with was utter deafening silence. Yet now here she moved towards him, her body impacting to press up against him, the hair that had so often held the two of them creeping up over him in a familiar yet now foreign blanket.
Fighting to keep himself from breaking he stood still until finally relenting her voice washing over him as though it physically touched his flesh. From head to toe he could feel her. Her scent, touch, warmth all of it. His arms rose to wrap around her the tears he had tried to hide slipping down his marble flesh as his eyes scanned the room the rose coming into sight. One from the garden Sauri's garden. He knew the exact flower, his twin had given it to his love as a mark of their friendship.

Dropping to his knees at the sight he pulled Genevieve with him. Wrapping her tightly against his chest as his eyes crushed shut images of better times flooding his mind as he tried to protect himself from the waves of emotion battering him.

Eve cried, and it was not a pretty cry that they show in the movies. It wa s ugly. Her eyes, cheeks, and nose were flushed. It was a combination of her own feelings and is own as well. His were hitting her like a tidal force of waves. One thing after another. His fear. His desperation to find her. The crippling pain of realizing she was gone. The despair to get her back. It was all overwhelming her and she was unable to put up any defenses to block it all from impacting her the way it was.

When his arms wrapped around her, she stoped grasping at him so much. Her fingers remained fastened to his shirt but no longer frantic to hold him there. They both crumbled to the floor, his legs had given out and hers were already uneasy which meant the fall was less than graceful for her. Thankfully he had been there to support her in a way that she could not have done for him. His words to her still sounded lost and confused..now she understood them. "I know..I know.. I don't know what happened or why."

She with drew her head from his shoulder and looked at his face. Blood was staining his porcelain skin, but he was here. Bringing her hands up, she brushed the life's blood away from his cheeks, using a different finger each time so not to smear anymore blood across his face. " I'm here.. " She spoke quietly and looked at him as she used her, what was, a clean shirt to clean the bulk of the red stain from her fingers. If she could go back and change time, without major repercussions, she would. If it meant that the pain he had felt all this time could never have been, she would. She did not have those powers though..no. Genevieve was an immortal but not even immortals were gifted with the ability of time jumping.

Her hands were on his face his head instinctively leaning to them as she wiped the tears from his face. He was unashamed of this weakness, he had been broken over the loss and he still was yet seeing her now was a balm to the pain that had been crippling him to day by day until it had finally dropped him onto his knees. The world had been all the duller, all the more pointless without her and without his sister, his fight was failing him.

Touching his forehead against hers he closed his eyes taking in a series of steadying breaths drawing her scent deep into pointless lungs as he let her fill him, calming him.

His hands drew away from her back now, crossing her body as he felt every curve of her, taking his time for his flesh to interact with the tendrils of hair that sought him, his thorn like vines twisting in response upon his own flesh beneath the confines of his shirt.
His palms eventually captured her face, either side of it holding her there each thumb caressing the flesh of her warm cheeks beneath them.
“My Genevieve” he whispered having thought their time together was done. He had never dared to dream that they would ever some how be together again, even in death. “My Love”

Dropping her hands he pulled her by the small of her back closer to him, impossibly so until he could draw her no closer his lips pressing hard against her own in a kiss of frustration and fear yet a kiss of utter abandon and joy. All of his pains and suffering pouring out into the embrace as he reconfirmed his love for her in the simple act. He needed her and now she was back. Even if the failing of mind could not be slowed, even if he was beyond repair at least she was with him now at the beginning of the end he did not have to face the end void of love and alone.

She smiled as he leaned into her hands while she brushed the remainder of the blood from his face. The exposure and vulnerability he was giving into was a relief for her. Eve was vulnerable as well and was unsure if she could be able to handle him rejecting her. It was not something that crossed her mind though, the way his body was reacting to her touch pushed any thoughts of rejection away. Her eyes closed as their foreheads touched and she brushed her nose against his.

His cool hands sent an icy shiver down her spine. The reaction his touch was envoking was a heated one. She drew in a deep breath as his hands ventured around various curves that were more sensitive than others. As his hands explored her body, her own ventured to the front of his shirt and began methodically undoing the buttons on his shirt. She wanted to see his skin, to feel it beneath her fingertips. The vines that were hidden would be bare for her to see and you touch. When she released the last button, she pressed her palms against his abdomen, fingers splaying out along the flesh.

Crystal eyes looked at him from breath half lowered lashes and she nodded her head a little in response. She was his and he was hers. Death may have removed her temporarily from his side; but, their souls would be together no matter what ending. The Gods had a reason for bringing her back and there way no way that she was going to squander it. No.

Turning her body, she moved so that she was fully facing him; her legs relaxed on either side of his hips, her arms draped just over his shoulders. There was a need for him. A need for the release and reminder that she was alive and to show him that she was back. It was a rhythm she was falling into and responding to subconsciously. She leaned forward, pressing her lips to his with a thirst that only his lips could quench. Everything would be okay..she just needed him. His touch. His love. All of it.

In her embrace nothing else seemed to matter, all that had been heavy upon his mind lifted allowing him relief if only temporary. Each desperate concern and every worry he had were put on hold. She was against him, their flesh on flesh, hot against cold.
Selfish as the act was in such dire times he could not will himself away from her he had longed for the moment since the last time he had bid her goodnight from her chambers. Had he have known what was to happen he would have never left her bed, he would have kept her there with him at every moment.

Her lips burned against him, her hands stirring a latent monster from within a frenzy of sensations shuddering through him as he relaxed each arm allowing his shirt to fall from them exposing the vines from their prison. Thorns tore painfully through flesh, a growl upon his lips pressed to hers as he once again gripped her, this time by the hips.
Roses coming into bloom as the vines rose out in search of her flesh, to graze upon it, coil around it until entangling in her living hair.

Her hair still had her in a protective cocoon as his fingers splayed pushing through it to find the flesh of her hips his lips relaxing against her as the kiss came to an end.
Pulling upwards he turned his face into the hair. “She may be yours, but she is also mine. Let me passed”
Shifting his weight he wrapped one arm around the small of her back, bringing himself onto his feet holding her still as he moved until her back would violently meet the cave's wall, the gentleness gone from him in his urgency to once again stake his claim upon his mate. His other hand grappling his belt.
“You'll still have me?” he asked his lips upon her shoulder now, fangs down to graze the flesh bringing droplets of blood to the surface.

Their lips met with a burning and unspoken desire. Her hands moving tenderly down his bare arms now. She heard the tearing of his flesh as the vines broke the skin, and the growl that followed suit. Her reply was to take his lower lip within her teeth and biting it firmly. Not breaking the skin but a possessive capture before continuing the kiss. Her hair, which had wrapped around her body, was retreating to make way for his hands. The vines which wrapped around the tedrils only entrapped them together, as it was meant to be. If someone were to kill them now at least they would be together.

Legs fully hooked onto his hips and she laughed as he scooped her up before pushing her against the wall. With the wal behind her, and he before her, she was trapped. Not that she minded. The chill of the wall and what was being silently promised was adding to the thrill. Her hair finally moved and relented to fully expose her body to him. Only a few of the locks made sure to hold his arm behind her back. Her breath came quick to her then when his fangs traced a line across her shoulder. Tiny beads of blood began to pull to the surface. There was no pain from it, in fact it was nothing more than a lovers kiss. "I will always have you, Ajax." She reassured him in a whisper of lips brushing along his ear lobe. as she glanced down at the hand on his belt. Biting her own lip then while rocking her hips forward to play with him. Her hands, which had found their way back up to his shoulders, were now tracing lines in his back. Nails brushing lightly against the skin as she arched her back to draw him to her. Eye lids coming down to close over her eyes as her back arched and head rested against the stone wall.

The world and all of the battles they were going to face faded away into darkness. There was only this moment. His body against and within her to reconnect what they had each lost. Claiming and possessive with each moment. It was a rhythm, she could easily follow his and move with him. As long as she had him, it did not matter. "You are mine.." She whispered at one moment, holding him to her. The fingers along his back had found a spot to curl, dig, or claw in their intimacy.

Her words engulfed him how he had needed to hear then despite knowing what she would say and with that spoken permission came total abandon. His body joined with her' once more. They were exactly where they belonged in that moment and all the moments of intimacy that followed.
They had known each other many times before but never in such away, the coupling going on well into the night until they once again were to know every detail of the other's body.

Sun set and the twilight hours had long gone when sated they both lay upon his scattered clothing, his body beneath her, limbs entwined with one another as her head lay upon his soundless chest.
His eyes were closed, his body relaxed as he listened  to her. Her heart beat soothing him, her rhythmic breathing the most comforting sound he would have imagined.
For that short time he felt bliss even though at the back of his mind he knew it would not last, it could not last but he clung to the stillness.

The cave as unwelcoming as it was had always been a sanctuary for him Eve had made it one. It was sad to know that she would have to leave it. The area was to unsafe and they had probably stayed much to long already there were routine searches over the entire lands he used to hold claim on.

Sleep claimed him, it had been months since sleep had called him home but with her he felt an emotional safety he had been bereft of with her parting. A deep sleep one that was much needed yet another gift Genevieve had unknowingly bestowed upon him.

Their reunion had been a violent affair. His clothes were damaged, hers were..somewhere, cuts adorned his skin but would probably heal. Hers would take a little longer and the soreness that would plague her in the coming days would be a welcoming feeling. One thing was for certain, the time a part had not changed his stamina, nor hers. They had each visited ecstasy numerous times throughout the course of the day; it only ended when she could no longer keep her eyes open. Her body had completely given into exhaustion after one final tumble. Her head resting just on his chest, a hand near her face was resting on the opposite side. She had been tracing one of the roses with her finger tips before then. Even her living hair was still.

As she slept, she knew not of what was going on in the world around them. The dangers that were lurking and hunting down their kind and perhaps them now. It mattered not, what mattered what the then and now.

Her sleep was a short one; she had been gone for several years already. First her eyes opened and she rolled the shoulder that was beneath her, it had fallen asleep at one point and not was nothing but static. When he did not stir, she realized he had fallen asleep. Eve did not wish to wake him but she had to wash up. She had dried blood along with various other things stuck to her. She lifted her head first to get a better peek at his face. Nothing yet. She slowly untangled herself from him. A leg that was locking his lifted and moved and her hair receded from him. Finally, before she completely moved, she leaned in to kiss his cheek. It was no heavier than the touch of a butterfly when it landed on your skin. She leaned her head against his cheek for a moment, taking in what had transgressed over the last day while sending out a plea to whomever was listening. She did not want this peace to end; but, he had responsibilities.
