Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Post by Requiem on Mon 28 Aug 2017, 19:03

Ryu finished his last shift as a bouncer at the strip club, he went through job after job after job. He had no choice, oxen knew him, he was high on their capture list. He used an alias, disguised his look as best he could but he had to be careful. Tonight had gone smooth, he didn't have to do much at all except keep the watch on the pervy men. As he finished up, he noticed a couple of men looking past the dancing women and at him. He took his cash and nodded a goodbye to the owner, walking out through the changing rooms to the back door leading into the alley. Ryu pulled his hood up and planted his hands along with the cash in his pockets.  The rain had started a while ago and he splashed his way through the alley to the main road, squinting at the lights of the cars from being inside a dull place all night.

The night life was still at large, all the drunks coming out and stumbling about. Ryu had to dodge a few and avoided a man throwing up all over the sidewalk. He was aware of steps quickening behind him and glanced behind to see the same men from the club, he quickened his own pace not wanting to draw attention to himself by engaging with them.  The men also quickened theirs to a run. ''Shit.''  Ryu mumbled, running now, ducking into an alley and then another, sprinting. He wouldn't go straight back to the manor in-case they managed to keep a tail on him.  He stopped briefly before scaling the side of a building to get a better look out from the roof.

Ryu was cautious, he didn't see the men in question anywhere now, he would disappear into the night and give it a few hours before going home. He turned to head back down using the fire escape and caught a glint from the corner of his eye, he turned in it's direction and as he did felt a searing pain in his left shoulder, ''Fuck.'' He cursed, gripping his shoulder, a sniper. He ducked quick and jumped off, running through the streets, trying his best not to leave a trail of blood behind him. Someone must have ratted him out at the club. He knew he had been working there a few days too many. ''God damn it.'' He continued to run, ripping the cloth from his shoulder to see black veins spreading, the bullet was laced with some sort of poison and after his last episode of being poisoned, he couldn't risk it happening again.

Ryu needed to half shift but he couldn't risk doing it right here, there were too many people about. A rush of wind past his ear, the sniper still on him, no, more than one sniper. People began to panic as more shots were fired, they scattered and stumbled into the nearest buildings. This was Oxen through and through, his arm was burning, he could feel the poison spreading. His body temperature increased rapidly as par of it's defence. Another shot hit him in the shoulder, ''Argh.'' That was it, he had to shift. As he ran, he ripped off his hoodie and let his body crack and change as black scales hardened his skin, it would keep the bullets in, but no more would get him, he would find somewhere safe to get the other two out. His eyes were brighter, his hair thicker as his form looked like that of some sort of demon running through the streets.

Ryu rounded a corner and stopped to take a beat, a moment to think. The heat from him was scolding the wall he leant on. He closed his eyes for a split second before beginning to run once more. A helicopter appeared from out of no where in front of him, ''Holy shit.'' He scrambled for cover as the pilot turned it to expose a shooter through the door.  They had really pulled out the stops this time. Ryu had no choice, he didn't need to dodge the shots now, his scales fully thickened in his semi human form. He walked out from the shield of the wall, fully facing the chopper, his eyes assessing it and the men inside, one pilot and three in the back. Easy.  Ryu crouched a little and then flung himself up towards the chopper, gripping onto it with his claws before jumping inside. The men fired at him with everything they had bullets bouncing off of his skin into the body of the helicopter.  The pilot was screeching something about making a landing. Ryu grabbed the nearest soldier and slammed his back down into his knee, breaking his spine instantly. He threw the broken body into the next soldier, pushing them both out of the chopper. They had a 50% chance of survival from the height, but Ryu didn't care right now, the poison still spreading, he burned even more, steam coming off of him.

The last soldier gave everything he had against Ryu, he discarded his gun and grabbed a knife, jamming it into the side of Ryu's neck, where the softer scales were. Ryu grunted from the pain but  left the knife in as he lunged at the man, tearing open his chest with his  claws and letting him bleed out beneath his feet. The chopper landed on a helipad and Ryu went for the front, he wasn't going to let the pilot go. He grabbed him from his chair and pulled him out onto the roof, slowly crushing his throat. The pilot's bloodshot eyes pleaded with Ryu but before Ryu could react to it, the pilot brought his hand up and jabbed  something into Ryu's eye. He dropped the man and grabbed his eye in pain, looking up with blurry vision to see a needle in the man's hand. ''What the ...'' He groaned before taking the pilot's gun and shooting him with it.

He had to get out of here, what the fuck was in the needle? Ryu groaned in pain as he descended from the roof and ran as far and as fast as he could before bundling into some derelict building full of druggy homeless people who luckily paid him no mind. He wandered through, shifting back to his human form, bullet wounds with black veins from the poison, a knife sticking out of his throat and a hand gripped over his bloodied eye. He leant back onto a wall breathing heavily before pulling his phone out of his pocket, his torso still bare. He switched it on and was going to try and get hold of Ajax, to warn him, ''God damn it.'' He shouted, not being able to see the screen let alone type anything or call. He scraped himself down the wall and sat, he would have to wait it out. He pulled the knife from his throat with clenched teeth and let it fall with a clatter beside him.

He had needed to burn off some steam after his encounters with Hope, so far she had been playing hard to get and thwarting all of his advances though she had been obvious about enjoying his attention. It was only a matter of time before she gave in to him and they both knew that but the two of them were enjoying the game.
Saint's stand was the place to be, he loved it there it was full of the fully alive and the half dead with none of the in between, people were either living it up or they were running themselves into the ground, it was fascinating to watch and even more fun to join in with especially when drunk young things often wondered into his path which he would often take his fill from in one way or another.

The strip club had been pretty packed but it was not the half naked girls that had caught his attention it was a guy that stood out from the others and it seemed that he was not the only one who had also taken noticed. He had been around long enough for things like that to stand out like a sore thumb. Maybe tonight wouldn't be a wash out after all.
When this lad left so did the two peek-a-boo men so Matthew decided to follow suit.

What came to follow was like watching an action film unfold in front of him. Unfortunately it was not the first time he had seen such things but the first time the volleys had been aimed at him and the Matashina coven so he really hadn't had the time to stand and take stock of what was going on. This time he enjoyed the mayhem of it a little more but still followed unable to turn a blind eye to someone, an immortal in danger. They were few and far between these days and they had to stick together. A niggling in the back of his mind told him that he knew the hunted.

The way he dealt with it was rather impressive and Matthew found himself fascinated with the skin change he pulled half way through as he jogged through the streets keeping well out of sight.
The whole thing was other quickly but that didn't detract away from the epic show. For now the soldiers were dead but more would follow as they always did.
The morphed man ducked into a run down looking building, the scent of blood thick in his wake and Matthew took the opportunity now to approach while things were relativity calm.

Walking past the users and the drunks he came down to a hallway where multiple people stumbled and grumbled about the heat whilst trying to move away from its source into a cooler part of the house. Usually he would have just taken it for drunken stories but he too felt the heat, the form of the one who followed slumped down against a wall further along the hallway, the heat seeming to come from him.

“You seem to have got yourself in a pretty big pickle there mate” he walked slowly towards the male making sure that fangs protruded his lips showing that he was indeed on his side and not another Oxen Moron out for blood.
“Fancy a hand up” he held his hand out as he stood before him ignoring the heat to the best of his ability.
“I think it is wise that I get you out of here. I have rented a room a few blocks away”

Ryu clenched his teeth as he looked to his shot shoulder with his good eye, he couldn't reach the other lodged in his shoulder blade, much to his annoyance, but he could try and get the other one out. He allowed his claws to grow out on his left hand and reached over to try to dig it out, scraping through the skin without a sound. He turned quickly as he heard approaching footsteps, creating a small flame and aimed it in the direction of the movement. He didn't throw, he watched the figure moving slowly, blurry but non threatening. ''Just a bit.'' He answered bluntly to the other immortal, dispersing the flames. One thing he knew for certain, Oxen had no dealings with Immortals so this guy was not with them. Ryu glanced to the hand and then to the man, he recognised him but couldn't put a finger on where. His eye still bled but he let his grip go on it to push himself up, not taking the hand, ''If I touch you, you will burn. Immortal or not.'' He said. The only one who had ever been able to touch him in this state was Hope. He pushed that thought away with a slight frown, she had still ignored him for the entire time he had been living at the manor.

He stood but didn't move yet, ''What's your name?'' He asked, ''Oh wait.'' He looked at him, now remembering where he recognised him from. He laughed a little, followed by a bloodied cough, ''You're Matthew. I'm Ryu.'' Although they all were part of the same coven, Ryu held very little interaction with any of them. Ryu was feeling worse, he needed to get somewhere safe and quickly. ''They jabbed something in my eye, I don't know what. It could be a tracker, I need to get it out.'' He explained, leaving the decision to go to his rented place up to Matthew as he could be putting himself at risk too by being with Ryu.

Ryu was responding to him and that was a good thing, it sure made getting him out a lot easier. As for being to hot to touch Matthew looked down over his skin, he had been ignoring the flamed hand but it was pretty hard to ignore the heat coming from him, how ever Matthew was not one to shy away from pain especially when the one who needed help was 'one of his own'
He allowed Ryu to stand unaided as the boy rejected his hand, he respected the strength he was trying to show so he didn't try and pander him, he was in a position of weakness being made to feel pathetic would only worsen that.
"Don't waste a moment worrying about me" he cautioned him. Smiling as Ryu recognised who he was.
It was no secret just how old he and Enya were, as it was no secret they had also been changed by the Ancient known as their sire Ajax. He could handle the burns a lot more then the other's could, he would just have to grin and bare the pain if Ryu really did need support to walk.

"Well Hello Ryu" he bowed his head "Let's not worry about the eye until we get some distance between you and those morons out there" he nodded up the hallway. Ryu would have to follow him and he would have to keep up otherwise Matthew would have no choice but to help him. He didn't have time to wait around and let Ryu fall back otherwise they would both be taken.
"Keep up. If you can't then tell me and I will have to help you. They will be coming and there will be a lot of them"

Ryu nodded at Matthew, ''Don't worry, I'll keep up.'' Ryu said, he had been in many a worse situation than this before. Ryu stumbled a little as he felt another jolt of the poison. ''Fucking thing.'' He said, as they began to run. Ryu clawed at the bullet wound again weaving in and out of the streets as he followed Matthew. He dug through his skin with gritted teeth, searching for the bullet. He got it, but it was deep and he had to make a hole in his shoulder as he wrenched it out and pocketed the bullet for later.

There were no signs of them being followed yet but Ryu knew that if the thing in his eye was a tracker as he suspected, it wouldn't be long before they closed in on them. His body was trying to reject the poison and he had to stop briefly to throw up blood. ''Go.'' He called as he continued to follow once he had finished.

They finally got to Matthew's place and Ryu piled himself inside, all the running had taken it's toll on him and he found the nearest chair and collapsed in it. His body began to shift on it's own as a way to heal itself, the scales spiking out this time for protection, ''Shit...I have to get the other bullet out and this fucking thing in my eye.'' He said with a grimace, now nearly twice the size he was before the shift. As long as he could stop more poison from spreading, the rest of him would heal with ease.

He stood and closed his eyes a moment, calling silently for Chikyu his blade which manifested at his side a few moments later. He held it out in front of him knowing that this was the only thing that could penetrate his scales. ''I need you to cut me with this blade.'' He said, ''Nothing else can get through my skin right now.'' The blade would only allow Matthew to touch it because Ryu allowed it. ''The other bullet is in my left shoulder blade, I need you to cut it out.'' He said stepping to him with the blade outstretched. No one else had ever touched Ryu's blade, but Ryu was putting a little trust in Matthew as he currently had no other choice. ''Don't be shy about it either, you need to cut deep, I can take the pain.''

Re: Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Post by Matthew M on Wed 30 Aug 2017, 13:00

Slamming the door behind him Matthew saw Ryu slump down into the chair from the corner of his eye while he moved around the room. He had installed metal shutters on all of the windows and doors, he yanked each one down locking all but one of them as he barricaded them inside. If Ryu was right he didn't have a whole lot of time before hell came washing down on them.

Despite Ryu putting on a brave face Matthew knew they were in trouble he could not only see the strain the injuries were putting on him he could smell a sickly stench coming from the blood that leaked out of his form. What ever the poison was they had pumped him with it was potent.

By the time he was finished Ryu was back up again and Matthew could hear sirens in the background. He knew some drastic action was going to have to be taken and he wasn't really sure how the whole thing would go down.
He didn't have advanced medical knowledge but right now all Ryu had was him so he had to get on with it.

Ryu called some sort of blade and handed it off to him. He took it eyeing it over before he nodded moving around the back of the now standing man he drew the sword up but found it to be much to long. Wrapping his hands around the blade he ignored it slicing through his flesh as he got a good enough grip to plunge it into the wound and fight the bullet free of the bone. One hand went to Ryu's other shoulder to hold him steady, his skin sizzling instantly upon touch though he didn't back down. Now was not the time.

jimmying out the bullet he let it drop to his feet, also dropping the word with a quick look at the two of his own hands he frowned. The left burnt past the muscle.

Moving around in front of him he looked directly into the Dragon boy's eyes squinting a bit to see exactly what position the tracker was in. Frowning he sighed with a shake of his head.
"It is in the centre of your eye, I need to get it out. I can't unless the eye comes too"

By now he heard the screech of tires outside, chopper rotors above the flat block. Matthew had intentionally rented the room in a very busy flat block, surrounded by humans. They would not bomb the room and it would take a long time for them to get in. Matthew also had some escape routes.

"Brace yourself"
There was no nice way to do this. Once again he would have to use his own hands.
The burnt one took place on the back of Ryu's neck, once again sizzling as his other rose up to his cheek.
"I'm sorry" plunging his thumb and forefinger either side of the eye ball he curved them around it, yanking it hard and fast to snap it's connection to the rest of him he tore it from ryu's head, Blood showering him from the now gaping socket.

Lowering Ryu to the chair, he turned walking to the one open window. There were dozens of soldiers in the street. He picked the most senior looking one and threw it straight into his face. "You're looking for this I assume!"
Darting back inside against a volley of bullets he yanked down the last shutter.
"We need to climb up into the roof space to get out. Can you move?" he asked drawing his phone up to his ear, calling Hope.

Re: Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Matthew took the blade and got to work, Ryu could feel his heat rising even more knowing he was burning the flesh off of him, but he couldn't control it. He grit his teeth and squeezed his eyes shut as the sword was plunged into him, moving about inside to free the bullet. He felt it come out and sighed in relief. The poison was already in his system now though and his body would have to work overtime to fight it, his temperature skyrocketed even more on that thought.

Matthew came to face him and he knew what was gong to come next, there was no easy way to get the tracker from his eye, and they certainly didn't have time to mess about. Ryu nodded in consent and steadied his stance the best he could, his body tensing and his good eye flashing in anticipation. Matthew gripped Ryu's shoulder and it felt like slow motion as he moved his other hand to his eye, Ryu's good eye keeping contact with Matthew's.

The pain that came next was excruciating, Ryu screamed through clenched teeth and every fibre of his being was telling him to fight but instead he pulled his head back as Matthew pulled the eye out, blood spattering everywhere. Ryu's vision in his remaining eye was blurry as he felt the need to pass out. If Matthew hadn't lowered him to the chair, he would have fell to it himself. Ryu grunted as his hand came up to the now empty socket, blood pouring out all over him. If he wasn't in so much pain, Ryu would have found Matthew throwing his eyeball at a soldier rather amusing, but for now, he was doing his best to just stay conscious.

''Give me a minuet.' He said through ragged breaths, the hand over his eye igniting in flame as he burnt the wound shut, a gruesome sight but it would stop the bleeding. As he burned it he felt sick and groaned through his teeth. He stood unsteadily, picked up his dropped blade and faced Matthew as the flaming hand seemed to change shape, ''I can't in this form. I need to shift to my full form.'' He said with slight urgency, he didn't have much choice, he was too damaged and his body would eventually shift to it's full dragon form on it's own. ''Get me to the roof, and I will get us out of here.''

With some support from Matthew, they made it to the roof and not a moment too soon as Ryu's bones began to break and his body jerk gruesomely and transform. ''When I fully shift, hold on if you can.'' He said, crouching over as the shift took place. Ryu's dragon form was huge, taking up the entire roof space and more. He stretched and flapped his enormous wings out in the direction of the soldiers below, sending them flying.

He waited for Matthew to get a grip on him before lunging off of the building, smashing the roof to bits as he did, the debris falling onto the soldiers below. He flew away from them within a few wing flaps and up into the clouds to obscure any view of him. He was weakening by the second, the blood loss and the wounds themselves let alone the poison, he needed to sleep and he was beginning to shut down.

Ryu flew for home, they were covered there, and he had been flying for a while now to loose any possible trail. He turned his good eye back to glance at Matthew to make sure he was okay. They were nearly home when Ryu suddenly jolted as his body gave way to the pain and poison, he could barely fly now and they began to drop suddenly and fast. Ryu covered Matthew with a wing as they plummeted to the woods below.

They hit the ground hard and Ryu's body barraged through the woods, finally stopping just by the manor, his body steaming, his wing still securely around Matthew, having kept him safe in the fall. He breathed hard as his wing released Matthew, he glanced to him to make sure he was still intact before letting his head fall against the earth and shifted back into his semi human form. ''Sorry.'' He muttered weakly in slight humour, repeating what Matthew had said when he ripped his eye out.

Re: Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Post by Matthew M on Wed 30 Aug 2017, 16:37

Pulling a chair across the room he stood upon it as Ryu sorted out the bleeding from his eye. Knocking back some of the cork Matthew opened up a shaft above his room. He had chosen the room because he could access a large network of metal crawl spaces used for ventilation purposes.
Jumping back down he mentally prepared himself for the heat of Ryu as he once again put flesh upon him.

Pulling Ryu up he kept his mind focused helping him up into the crawl space. "I have draw chalk arrows on. If you can see them follow them. I am right behind you" he whispered leaning back down he threw the chair to the other end of the room after grabbing the cork boards putting them back in place.

The phone had stopped ringing now. A female voice answering.
"Right Hope. It's Matthew, look I can't actually hear you all that well right now so I am just gunna talk. I found one of the coven boys. Ryu. I am with him, he is a mess, Ox soldiers are everywhere" he pressed the phone between his shoulder and ear as he crawled after.
"Stay on the line. I need your help" he caught up with the dragon.
"Steep incline here Ryu" he paused placing his hand on Ryu's back to help him up before following out of the open shaft onto the roof.

"Fuck!" looking over the side he cursed. "They are everywhere" his voice was still calm yet he wondered for a minute if they would get out. Then Ryu shifted.

His body growing so fast and so large Matthew was knocked clean off his feet my one of Ryu's scaled legs. "Shit" grabbing the phone as he fell his other hand reached out grabbing onto Ryu's scales which he had to quickly scale up to avoid falling off the roof. Bullets flying past him one lodging itself in his thigh.
"Ah God Damnit"

"Hope... Hope I hope you can hear me. I'm on a dragon.. a friggin dragon. I mean we're probably going to die in a minute but that's pretty cool. I haven't seen a dragon before...WOAH!"

Ryu took to the skies Matthew holding on the best he could while ignoring the burns and bullet he had taken on during their escape.
"We're coming home." the phone was crackling up the battery running on low "Black woods"

The flight was short but he was confident that they had lost the soldiers. He would have relaxed but he could feel the body beneath him changing, he could once again smell the poison and then Ryu started to plummet.
Shielding himself Ryu did his best to protect him as they landed violently against the terrain of the black woods.
"No need... thanks for the ride" he was jarred and aching but otherwise fine.
Rolling out of the Dragon's grip he moved away Ryu changing back into humanoid form.

"Hope!" Matthew called into the otherwise silent forest. He didn't know if she had heard him on the phone or not. "Over here!"
Kneeling down beside Ryu he looked over him not sure there was much more he could do for the boy.
"You did a pretty good job there kid" he smirked looking him over for any further injuries.

H O P E . D E A T H - R E I G N
Vampire || Wraith

Hope moved frantically threw the house as she grabbed everything she could think of. Matthew's phone was one of the worst of her life. She could hear all the chaos, she could hear Ryu had gotten into some trouble and rather then wait for her to come get them, he decided to fly home. " Fucking idiot... I swear to God if he's not dead when he gets here... " she muttered to herself as tried to prepare for every possible scenario she could. She had lost Ryu once and it had broken her, mental, emotional, she literally shut down. She didn't have that luxury this time. If anything happened to him, she would be expected to go on, to lead as though nothing had happened so she was angry. It was easier to be angry and do what needed to be done then to show how scared she was that losing Ryu permanently was a reality again.

Grabbing bottles of water, she stuffed them into the bag as she looked around the kitchen for anything else she may need. No one knew the his autonomy better then her, no matter  the form. She had patched and sewn him back together so many times, it was too many to count. She had been burned, scratched and hurt by him as his different forms tried to heal. No one in Jia was able to tolerate his body heat and there were times it was excruciating but despite their past, she was prepared to do it all again. She was not only going to have to treat him but herself and possibly Matthew when this was all over. An image of his torso and back flashed across her mind as she remembered the last time she had patched him up. Of course it was just her luck that the first guy to pay any attention to her in that way just happened to be the guy rescuing her ex-boyfriend. Under any other situation, she would have been cringing but with Ryu's life at risk, she would have to suck it up.

The ground shook, it wouldn't have been noticeable to a human but Hoppe was all too familiar with what a dragon coming into contact with the ground sounded like. Looking out the kitchen window she would see where Ryu had come in adn hit the trees as they were now missing from the landscape. Followed by Matthew calling for her name. He wouldn't need to call her twice as she moved as fast as her body would allow her. She tried to mentally prepare herself for what she was about to see as she moved into the forest. It didn't take long for her to find Matthew and a battered looking Ryu on the ground. She had never seen him this bad, not since his altercation with his father that resulted in his death.. no she couldn't think that way.

She stood for a moment and just stared at Ryu's body, it may have seemed like shock but Hope was taking in every inch of his body, anything that even looked slightly out of place. Pulling the hair tie from her wrist, she quickly tied up her hair and knelled down to be beside Ryu, the opposite side to Matthew, she needed space to work. " Ryu.. you fucking asshole.. " she said as she prepared herself for all too familiar burn. Grabbing the water, she began pouring it all over his body, a distinctive sizzle could be heard as steam rose from him. She had to wash the excess blood off to see the wounds properly. Working from the top of course the first noticeable injury was his lack of an eye. That wouldn't kill him though, he could live without an eye and it seemed Matthew had already treated some of his injuries. " Not bad Matty. " she said in passing as she was soon realizing that Matthew had probably saved his life.

Getting to work, she began cleaning out the bullet wounds the same way she had Matthew's before. The only difference being her fingers were burning and healing constantly as she did so. The smell of burning flesh should have bothered her but she seemed accustomed to it as she worked quickly. " There was no UV rounds this time I take it? " she asked Matthew as there was no evidence of any but she didn't want to be caught off guard again. She placed gauze over the wounds but they were quickly being discarded with a sickly coloured looking puss. " What is it with you and poisons? " she asked Ryu not even sure if he could hear her. This was all to similar to the last time she and Ryu were in such close proximity except he had a fiancee at the time and then proceeded to demand she leave. She wondered if he would be any more or less grateful this time.

" This is pointless.. " she said looking over at Matthew. " I need to get him inside, think of a way to filter his blood because while all this poison is in his system I can't close the wounds. I'll only be trapping the poison in. " Ryu's body was healing, slowly as it may be. That was evident from the way the poison was actually weeping out of him so she wasn't about to stitch him up leaving it to pool and be further absorbed into his body. It wasn't ideal and she ran the risk of him changing form again and her not being able to penetrate his skin. But she had to weigh up his options here. The poison, if let in his system could eventually kill him, the wounds although deep, had some treatment already and would more then likely heal without her intervention.

Pulling her hands away, it was clear to see where her fingers were burned and blistered but she didn't seem to mind. " Matt can you help me drag my ex-boyfriends ass back into the house seeing as he can't see to stay out of trouble for five minutes. " she asked looking down at him. " I swear Ryu it's like you are trying to get yourself killed. " her first statement sounded cold, indifferent but the care she took in handling him said differently. She began to wonder if he had actually been trying to kill himself. Was he purposely being reckless? He hadn't been himself since he left Jia. Then again for all she knew he was seeing his wife when he was attacked. The thought of Haru made her want to leave him there and let Haru deal with him. But like before that little human wouldn't have been able to help him. Once again it fell on her to patch him up, heal his wounds and send him back into her arms. She glanced at Matthew, maybe it was time she started moving on.

Re: Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Ryu lay in the grass, feeling every wound and felt incredibly sick, he was looking up at the sky trying to familiarise himself with only having one eye now, he knew it would take a lot of adjusting. He was briefly aware of Hope coming to his side and calling him an asshole, he was surprised she even cared to help him at this stage having made him feel like he didn't exist every time they passed each other. He felt the cool of the water over his boiling skin for a split second before it to boiled.''Matty..'' He muttered inwardly to himself, even in this state he was still aware of that.

He shrugged a little, smelling the burning flesh of Hope as she got to work...''Don't...'' He said weakly, not wanting to harm her even if she could heal herself, he never wanted to harm her of all people even if she did hate his guts. She spoke to him as if he were an annoyance, poison, it seemed to be something that was made specifically for him by oxen, it felt different to the poison before, that took time to take an affect on him, this was quick and with only two bullets. Oxen must have somehow done their research. ''They must love me.'' He replied, his voice barely being able to be heard as all he wanted to do was comatose himself.

Hope suggested to go inside, but Ryu wasn't sure if he could stop himself from shifting again, especially if she were to prod him about to get the poison out, he glanced to Matthew and gestured to his sword sheathed in his belt in case it was necessary to use again, he was too weak to do it himself. As he was pulled to stand, Hope spoke of him not to him and it was another jab to add to the rest, she hated him, yet she probably felt she had to help him because he was part of the coven. ''Maybe I am.'' He said but of course he did not mean it, he might have been a mess of late, but she knew nothing of it or what he was doing, she had made sure to keep away from him. The ex-boyfriend... if he wasn't so hot, she might as well have frozen him. He sighed to himself and then almost held his breath as he walked with their support into the manor, the pain  he could handle, but being this close to Hope he could not. ''Do what you need to do. And thank you.'' He said knowing that he may well give in to passing out at any moment, ''And you, Matthew.'' He said, Matthew had done him a solid, and earned Ryu's loyalty in a space of a night.

He looked down some what helpless until Hope arrived. To her credit she came to Ryu and his aid quickly and set about helping him even if she did give some scathing comments making sure to add that Ryu was her Ex boyfriend. He already knew that and it was now more then obvious that she also wanted him to know it.

He moved his hands away as she started to work, flexing his fingers the skin cracked, fresh blood coming to the surface as they healed themselves slowly. It seemed Hope was some how immune to the touch, she burned but healed almost straight away like her body knew how to counter it.
Matthew was no stranger to burns seeing how Enya had unstable fire abilities but he had never mastered such a response to them.

"No, No UV. Silver and poison" he replied feeling really awkward about the whole situation now that all three of them were there. He was also starting to notice the side effects from the bullet. It seemed he also had been poisoned. Lucky for him though it seemed to be tailored to Ryu he just suffered side effects making him feel woozy and dizzy.

She did what she could bit as he thought she soon gave up. Things were as bad as they seemed, she needed to get him inside. He saw the nod to the sword and he nodded back picking it up he twisted it through his belt standing up to help Hope he looped Ryu's arm over his shoulder making him steady as they started to move towards the house.
"At least no one has to put the heating on with you about"

Even when bullet ridden and poisoned, Ryu had that sense of humor. She had to force herself not to smile. He didn't get to make her smiled anymore, she refused. There was a time his wit would have diffused this situation, he'd have brought a genuine smile to her face and she would have said something smart back to make him smile. But that wasn't her job anymore, he made that perfectly clear when he sent her away so no matter how much it killed her to do it, she wouldn't smile. Throwing what was on the ground back in the bag leaving no trace of them in the wood except for the large hole in the treeline. She noticed Chikyu on the ground, one of Ryu's most treasured possessions. She reached to pick it up, confident that she could given she had handled the blade before and it would remember her. But to her surprise, Matthew grabbed it first.

Surprised, she watched as he looped Chikyu in his belt. Ryu had never let anyone beside her, well as far as she knew, handle that blade and here was Matthew a virtual stranger to him wielding it. It made her more concerned for Ryu. He wouldn't let just anyone touch that blade and he must have been desperate to let a stranger. As Matthew put Ryu over one shoulder and supported him she nodded at him while glancing at Ryu. She wondered if she was going to be able to get the poison out before it caused any long term damage. He had already lost an eye and she didn't want him to have to lose anything else, least of all his life. Ryu thanked them and she sighed. Of course he would thank her, Maybe if he had done that the first time things wouldn't have ended up the way they did. " Don't thank me yet. " she said knowing she hadn't really done much to help him yet. Matthew however was far more deserving of it.

Approaching the house, she laughed at Matthew's comment about Ryu's heat. She really didn't see the marvel in it anymore but she had grown up side by side with Ryu. She knew everything about him or at least she thought she had until recently. She never imagined he would have hurt her the way he had so she supposed she didn't really know him at all. " Come on, let's get the martyr inside before Ox Corp came dragon hunting. " she said to the pair as she led them in a side door. It was closer than the front door and she had no doubt that Ox Corp wouldn't be far behind them. The martyr comment was something Hope had called him on countless occasions. It was one of the things she loved about him and probably the only man who would put up with her. He was a glutton for punishment and she had loved to dish it out.

" Lay him down on the table in the dining room Matt, don't want to start a house fire. " she instructed having learned the hard way about putting a hot Ryu on soft furnishings. Holding doors open, she finally noticed that Matthew was bleeding as well. She rolled her eyes at him " You trying to undo all my hard work Matty. " she smirked as she swiped her arm across the table clearing it to make space for Ryu. " I'm going to grab some blood bags from the pantry. You should tourniquet that thigh stop the poison spreading till I can get to it. " she instructed not wanting to have dealt with one to find the other getting worse. She was only one woman and as fond of Matthew as she was, Ryu needed her more right now. "

As Ryu was moved, he felt every part of his body burning, he wondered what his next encounter would be like with Oxen, what they would learn from this one, fucking poison, would he have to be in his semi human form 24/7. He was confident in Hope's medical abilities, just like her mother, he knew he would survive on his own, but with her help, the recovery would be a hell of a lot faster. The eye was another matter, he thought of that as they walked, plenty of people only had one eye, he could master it,  he hoped. He glanced to make sure Matthew had Chikyu and he did, realising that Hope might find that weird, he found it weird himself and wanted to have the blade back at his side as fast as he was able to. ''That's true..'' He said with a slur as his body continued to slowly shut down. He could feel himself getting heavier as the scales slowly began to creep up started at his legs. He would try to put it off as long as possible, Hope needed to work quickly. ''Martyr.'' He had been called that many times before, especially by Hope, he frowned, he was no Martyr, he was just trying to survive like the rest of them. He killed a lot of the Oxen soldiers today, he didn't really see that as being any different to them, just basic survival instinct.

They pulled Ryu into the manor and he was aware of the blood trail he was leaving behind, he tutted to himself, knowing that Hope would probably clean it up. He chuckled a little followed by another bloodied cough as she spoke of him starting a house fire but he couldn't say anything in response. He glanced around briefly wondering where Marcus was, but hoping he wouldn't see him in this state at the moment either.

Ryu helped to get himself onto the table and laid down with a groan, he glanced from Hope to Matthew and saw the way she looked at him and again called him Matty, he wondered if there was something between them. He just grit his teeth and looked away and up to the ceiling, it was none of his business, he had lost the right to be concerned with her love life a long time ago now, even if he still loved her. When she had left the room, he looked at Matthew, ''Treat her right.'' He muttered, a painful thing for him to say, before looking away from him with slight annoyance in his remaining eye.

Getting Ryu onto the table he settled him before withdrawing his now rather crispy shoulders away, flexing them he ignored the pain of the burns and made some room for Ryu and Hope. He knew Hope had medical know how. He had learned that first hand. He was rubbish and made a mental note to maybe do some reading about general medical treatments and first aid.

"Yes Ma'am" he smirked as Hope gave him jip about her handy work and instructed him on how to deal with his leg. Now he was slowing down and his job for the most part was done he was starting to feel the effects of what ever they had shot Ryu up with.

Taking the blade from his belt he lay it down upon one of the sides before taking a kitchen knife from a draw.
Hope had left the room and Ryu was looking at him with some sort of strange emotional look upon his face.
"What?" Ryu asked him to treat her right he was stunned a moment and had to suppress the desire to laugh. Laughing now would have been cruel given the state dragon boy was in so he pressed his lips together and limped over to one of the chairs pulling his shirt up over his head he placed it beside him.
Using the knife he cut his trousers off above the bullet wound.
"It's not like that Ryu" he finally replied. Knowing the whole thing was a sensitive subject. Matthew in no way was looking for a wife, he was just out for some fun.
"Don't worry about it. I'm nice to everyone. I mean look I got your boiling ass back here didn't I"

Looking away he once again controlled the kitchen knife, clenching his jaw as he set to work cutting yet another bullet free from a body, only this time the bullet was from his own.
Slipping the blade in he rotated it around the bullet applying pressure to the sides blood spilling to the floor beneath him as he forced the silver upwards and out of the wound until the bullet too dropped to the floor beneath him.

Walking into the pantry Hope looked at the stocks. Blood bags were getting low and Hope knew she was going to need quite a bit to help Ryu. She bit her lip as she faced a dilemma. Did she take enough to help Ryu and leave a shortage in the house or did she make Ryu suffer to better serve the appetites of those in the house. She knew what Ajax might have wanted her to pick, Ryu would heal on his own so it wasn't essential to his life but could she really leave him there to suffer? " Fuck it.. " she muttered as she started loading her arms. As difficult as their relationship was, she didn't want to see him suffer, not at anybody else's hands but her own. Married or not she had him first and she was the only one on this Earth who could ring his neck.

Stepping back into the dining room, Ryu was still conscious, that was a good sign but she could see the tension in his muscles. His body desperately wanted to shift but she needed him to hang just a few minutes longer. " Catch Matty. " she said tossing him a bag figuring he could use it. " Your supply line better come through. " she said hoping that the blood he had promised was going to appear soon. If it didn't, she was going to have to ration out the supply and she imagined it wasn't going to make her very popular among the new arrivals. Focusing her attention on Ryu, she sat on the edge of the table and began looking at his arm.

" Ok Ryu I'm going to do this as quick as possible and then you can shift. " he didn't need to tell her what he needed. She knew instinctively as she grabbed  a needle and found the vein without much issue. It wasn't the first time Hope had placed a needle in this vein. Looking around she grabbed a coat rack. " This will have to do. " she said as she attached the bag to the needle and hung it up on the coat rack. It wasn't technically correct but it did the job all the same. " Right that will dilute the poison. " she said, shaking her hand as it was once again burnt. Her painted nails were now as good as gone. " You owe me a manicure when this is over Ryu. " she chuckled, she hadn't meant too but she couldn't help it. She had shown a crack in her facade.

Clearing her throat, she slipped off the table and went toward the medical bag. " I'm going to stick a poultice in some of those wounds. It will help draw out the poison you don't burn off.. " she explained. She left out the fact that she had made these poultices with Ryu in mind sometime ago. After seeing the effects it had taken on him before and with him living under her roof, she wanted to be prepared. Thankfully she preparation was  paying off now. " When I've inserted them you can shift over them, the line should stay. " she explained hoping that the IV would stay in place so she could keep the blood flowing. Taking the first ball of cloth, she found an opening and unapologetically placed the ball inside. The poultice itself wouldn't hurt him but it wouldn't be comfortable either.

After a few minutes, Hope had done all she could do. The first bag was entering his body steadily and the poultices were securely in place. She wanted to place a pillow or something under his head but it would only melt at his current temperature. He was going to have to do the rest himself and when he cooled down she'd move him up to his bedroom where he would be more comfortable. Taking a seat beside him, she wanted to give her hands a moment. They were badly burnt and charred. Areas of the skin moulded together making it uncomfortable to use them. Thankfully she didn't need to do anything to technical to help Ryu.

Glancing at Matthew, she offered him a small smile. He had earned her respect and trust today. Ryu might have died had it not been for him. " How's the leg doing? " she asked wondering if he needed her attention again. The least she could do  was help him out and since she probably couldn't spare another bag. She had a feeling she was in for a long night, pumping IV's of blood into Ryu's system and keeping an eye on him. She could try and pretend not to care and go to bed but she knew she wouldn't sleep so she may as well sit there and know he wasn't going to burn the house down or find him dead on the table when she woke up. She was going to keep a vigil by his side till he was healed and she could start treating him like the asshole he was again.

Re: Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Post by Requiem on Thu 31 Aug 2017, 22:12

Ryu studied Matthew as he sat and seemed to try not to laugh at what Ryu had said. Ryu wasn't sure what was going on between them but there was something, even if it had not started yet, but Matthew's reply seemed like it was just fun. He opened his mouth to say something but stopped himself, reminding himself once again that it was not his business. He looked at his leg, only just seeing now that he was shot, being too out of it when they were actually with the soldiers. ''The poison..'' He said with a slow point in his general direction, ''How is it for you?'' He asked with a small humorous grin as the bullet was pried out and hit the floor.

Hope came back in the room and instructed him, he nodded and faced back up to the ceiling, trying to concentrate on not shifting any more than he already had. She made the makeshift IV and inserted it with it, it not being her first rodeo with him. He chuckled a little as she said of a manicure, ''Done.'' He said but it pained him knowing that she was suffering, even if only temporary because of him.

Hope did what she needed to do and he grit his teeth, but the thing that hurt was not her doing, it was where his eye used to be, his body seemed to be growing some new scales there which had never been there before and it hurt like a mother, he wanted to grab it but he couldn't move his arm where the IV now was. Chikyu, now in Matthew's care currently, began to glow a little and Ryu had no clue what the fuck was happening but he just wanted it to stop. His body shifted rapidly, and Hope managed to do what she needed before it finished. Now in his semi human form, the table seemed to be weighed down into the floor from the size of him. But Hope was right, the IV managed to stay intact.

The eye socket seemed to finish whatever the hell it was doing, the new scales there grey rather than black like the rest of him. He briefly laughed as the pain subsided, wondering why it could not have been his clearly immortal eye that was removed rather than his human looking one, not that he could blend in with humans anyway. He lay and focused on his breathing, knowing that he would be staring at the ceiling all night. ''Can I have my sword back now?'' He asked, but before an answer came, the sword moved on it's own and rested itself at his side, he took a breath of ease now that it was back where it belonged. ''Thank you, Hope.'' He said again.

“Better then it is for you by the looks of it” he smiled glancing up from the wound to Ryu in time to see Hope coming back into the room throwing a blood bag his way. He caught it and placed it down beside him with no intention of using it, he didn't feel the need. “Feels like a bad human hang over” despite how long he had lived he still remembered the horror of the hang overs from his human years. “I'll get over it, I think it was aimed more for you then for me anyway” he shrugged not in the least bit bothered that he had just been shot. It was far from the first time and probably would be far from the last. Especially with the shit show that was about to hammer down on Arcane and surrounding areas including The Black Woods.

He stayed out of the way tending to his own wound while Hope did her thing with Ryu. Again he noticed that she seemed well versed in all that she did and he decided that she must have at some point taken on the roll as medic in the coven before they all joined. That was a good thing seeing as the healers from Lacrimosa now resided in the afterlife.

Making sure nothing else was within his wound he sat back waiting for the bleeding to stop, which it did not seem to want to do for a while. A side effect from the last wound he had received with the UV silver bullet. It was taking it's sweet time working through the system but all was heading in the right direction so he was unconcerned.
“Oh?” Hope asked him about his leg but he was distracted momentarily by the sword returning itself to Ryu. Shrugging he looked back to Hope. “Yeah it's fine”

He stood up handing her back the blood bag answering the question she had asked of him some time before which he had ignored. “The supply is good. It will come through tomorrow”
Hobbling over to Ryu he moved to take his hand “Do ya mind?” lifting his leg so Ryu would not have to move to much he placed the boy's palm upon the bullet wound.
“Do me a solid lad and cook the bugger shut would you?”

H O P E . D E A T H - R E I G N

--- A few hours later ---

Calm had once again befallen Death Manor as the hours passed. Ryu was no longer sprawled out across the dining room table that would now have his figure permanently scorched onto the wood. As his temperature came down, Hope moved him into his own room within the Manor for his privacy and his comfort. She didn't want half the household to walk in and see him. He would hate that and she didn't want to worry anyone else. Most of the household had only just left a warzone and she did not want them worrying about it coming to their doorstep, not yet. Once he was cool enough to place on fabric without it immediately igniting  underneath him, Hope placed him in the bed with Matthew's help. Ryu was still in his semi dragon form, he had been the whole time he'd been asleep.

Once he seemed comfortable, Hope placing the pillows under his head the way she knew he liked it, she thanked Matthew. She thanked him for bringing Ryu home safe and for helping him. He didn't need to do that but Hope was grateful. Ryu might have been an asshole but he didn't deserve to die, not like that. Matthew had accepted her gratitude along with a few cheeky comments about how she was going to repay him. She had laughed it off as she statically dodged his flirtations but she had to admit she was rather enjoying his attention. She knew all the reasons she should avoid him. He was definitely a lady killer, he was the stereotypical type and she had chewed up and spit guys out like him before. But that was when she was with Ryu and he hadn't seen any action since she left Ryu and a girl had needs. Maybe Matthew could meet those needs, but not tonight.

Once she had managed to convince Matthew to wash up, Hope was alone with a passed out Ryu. It was the first time they had been alone in a long time, granted he was unconscious but it was still strange yet oddly familiar like she was coming home after being away for a long time but now she didn't know where everything was anymore. There was a time when she'd have been curled up beside him, basking in his heat while her coolness brought him relief. That seemed like a lifetime ago. She didn't even feel like the same girl anymore and she certainly didn't think that Ryu was the same man. Maybe they had outgrown each other. They had been together since they were basically kids, maybe it was time for her to accept that they had their time and she needed to let him go, no matter how much it hurt.

Sighing, she moved across the room and grabbed a chair. " Jesus Ryu would it kill you to buy some furniture. " she muttered as she dragged it over closer to the bed. She wasn't in for a comfortable night it would seem as she say on the merger wooden chair. As the night went on, she would get up periodically to change out his IV and add a fresh blood bag. She could have done with one herself after all the healing she had to do after treating Ryu but she would wait till Matthew's supply came through. It wouldn't be the first time she went without blood and probably wouldn't be the last.

As the night was ending, she attached one of the last bags that she had brought upstairs. It seemed to be working as he continued to cool. He was still emitting quite a bit of heat but at least he was no longer combustible She sat down on the wooden chair, placing her feet on the bed so she could at least lay out. She placed her elbow in the bedside locker and supported her head. She stared at Ryu and his scaled body. He was so close and yet the pair hadn't been further apart. She couldn't have imagined they would have ended up like this. She running her family, Ryu banished from Jia and married to another woman.

She smirked a little to herself as she remembered a smaller Ryu. When she and Marcus were half the height they were now and they're biggest problem they had was how they could get away with breakign the rules. Rose Lodge was still standing, her mother was happy and had her sanity and Hope's biggest secret was her crush on her brother's best friend. Life was simpler back then and unfortunately it wasn't even that long ago. Her eyes slowly closed as she relaxed. This was probably the longest she had sat down since the Matashina covens arrival and sleep had been short and not so sweet but as she remembered better times, she fell into a peaceful sleep and probably short lived sleep.

Re: Day by day, job by job. (Matthew)

Post by Requiem on Sat 02 Sep 2017, 09:51

Ryu went into a deep sleep as he had stared at the ceiling from the dining room table after having burnt the wound shut for Matthew with a grin, he did have his uses. He had no dreams in his sleep as his body was healing. As he had gotten older, his healing seemed to be quicker, the bullet wounds closing up overnight leaving nothing but a scar. The poison in his blood was thinned out and eventually left his system thanks to Hope's efforts through the night. The eye did not heal like the rest, the grey scales remained fixed in place and was a gruesome sight. As the morning came, his body slowly shifted back to his human form. He woke and felt the softness of a bed, his bed and opened his eye to see his familiar room.

Ryu had barely anything in his room, he had left all of his belongings in Jia after the banishment, everything he had known, every item that had meaning to him, his father's and mother's things, all had been left but Chikyu. He had not bothered to buy anything since, just had the basics, not wanting to attach emotion to things that could just be ripped from him again. He sighed to himself, still not used to waking up here, he missed his home, his people and his leadership. Even after their betrayal, he missed his life and the inheritance of it.

Ryu turned to see Hope asleep in the chair beside him, he studied her sleeping face, she looked peaceful and he smiled, it had been a long time since he had seen her face not scowling with hatred at him. He missed her far more than he missed his previous life, he had married Haru to keep his people safe, but everything had backfired on him. He had tried to explain to Hope before, but she was too hurt to listen.  His hurting her, was the worst thing he felt he had ever done. He never loved Haru, he tried to, Hope had left him and he waited for a long time but she did not return. He had been put in a predicament, but being who he was, he had to save his people and he had. Haru was a sweet girl, but he never loved her, she loved Marcus and Ryu was fine with that, encouraged it even. They had divorced as soon as the treaty was settled, but even so, he and Hope seemed to be over. He always thought they would be that couple who even after being pulled apart, would eventually come back together, but it didn't seem like it now. He had tried, but he couldn't let her go, maybe it was a good thing that she treated him the way she did, softened the blow a little.

Ryu sat up and glanced around, she had clearly been up all night for him. He was grateful and it must have been a pain in the ass for her. She had every right to just leave him, but she didn't, because beneath her cold exterior, he knew what kind of person she was, and she was the best person he knew.  He stood up from the bed and removed the IV she had expertly put in him. He took a fresh blanket from a draw and stepped to her, draping it over her shoulders, more for comfort than for need. He pushed some of her hair back behind her ear gently like he used to do before stepping out of the room.

As Ryu walked he felt a lot better, he made his way to the kitchen and began to make himself some much needed food. ''Bloody Ketzu..'' He muttered, seeing most of the food was gone, Ketzu must have been back. He managed to find some cereal and shrugged it would have to do. He sat at the table and ate, everything was weird with only one eye, it was frustrating. But at least he wasn't dead.

After he had finished he stood and looked at his reflection in a mirror, man the wound was an ugly mother....He brushed some hair over it to hide it. Even now in human form, the grey scales remained in place like a cocoon.

Hope's dreams of her early carefree childhood years soon turned to darker times. Rose Lodge being destroyed, losing her family, her life literally turning to hell around her. Then as she thought the worst was over she found herself sitting in Jia. Everyone was in their formal wear, Ryu was stood in front of her and as she went to speak to him, Haru appeared in a wedding dress. Gasping, she woke up slightly confused as she initially didn't know where she was. Blinking and moving her hair aside she looked over at the bed where her feet were but Ryu was now missing. Sighing and shaking her head, she wondered if he would ever learn. She had spent hours feeding him blood through the IV and at the first chance he was just strolling around like nothing had happened. She often wondered why she bothered.

Stretching, she pulled the blanket off her and wondered when she had gotten that. She didn't remember pulling it out and apart of her wondered if Ryu had put it on her but she pushed that thought aside believing it was just wishful thinking. He was a married man after all and she had no idea where he was hiding his wife but she wasn't here despite the fact her husband had been severely injured. The guy was missing an eye for fuck sake. Folding the blanket she left it on the chair and left Ryu's room. Apart of her prayed that no one saw her leaving her ex-boyfriends room. Feeling the pressure's of being a new leader, she didn't want rumours about her circulating and undermining her credibility. She could only imagine what it would look like, Matthew leaving her room and her leaving Ryu's room in the same week. Her reputation would be down the drain.

Walking back toward her room, she was still in the blood stained clothes from the night before. She lost more clothes that way. She didn't even try to wash them anymore. You just couldn't get blood out of Gucci and so she tossed them on the floor and went in the search of something clean and preferably blood free. Grabbing a grey halter crop top and she pulled it over her head. She paired it with a simple pair of blue jeans. She tousled her hair and played with it for a moment, admiring herself for a minute. She was starving and lacking in sleep but she refused to look anything other then perfect. Walking back through the house, it wasn't hard for her to track down Ryu. If it wasn't him in the kitchen then it was Ketzu and the pair of them ate them out of house and home.

Stopping before entering, she took a moment to compose herself. Ryu was so much easier for her to deal with when he was semi-conscious or better yet, passed out. However, Ryu was awake and fully aware now. The same guy who had broken her heart was sitting in her kitchen and eating her food and she had to try and play nice. Stepping in, she walked straight past him and headed toward the pantry. Grabbing one of the last bags, she took it back into the kitchen and poured it into a glass. There was an awkward silence and she couldn't stand it, she had to say something. " Feeling better? " she asked as she took a rather large gulp of the blood. She had to heal her hands many times over last night and it had created quite an appetite.

Leaning against the counter, she kept a healthy distance between herself and Ryu. Even with the strange scaling over his eye, she couldn't deny there was an attraction there. There always had been but he was married and she was hurt and the whole time he had been living there she had done the utmost to keep a distance between herself and him. There was apart of her that wanted him, that was still attracted to him and she couldn't trust that part of herself. She had to keep Ryu at arms length and if that meant being cold and distant then that was something he was going to have to deal with. As much as she hated it, she was trying to respect him and his decision and she was doing that by trying to honour his marraige. She knew that if she wanted him, she could have him but as flirtatious as she was, she wasn't a whore or a homewrecker. She knew where the line was and she fought to stay on her side of it.

The hair over the eye didn't really do much, Ryu may have looked clearly Immortal but he always took care of the way he looked and he looked good, but the eye ruined all of it. He sighed to himself, at least he was alive, he would have to get a patch to cover it. Hope walked in and past him, clearly keeping her distance. There was a silence at he just stared in the mirror but didn't really look at anything. Then she spoke and he turned to face her. She had changed and looked fresher. ''I'm feeling a lot better.'' He said, moving a little closer to her without thinking, ''Thanks to you that is.'' He added with a half smile.

He leant on the kitchen island with a bit of a bump on the base of it, stubbing his toe, ''This will take some getting used to though.'' He grinned, pointing to his missing eye. He was talking to her normally for once, every time he had spoken to her before had felt stiff and forced because of the way she looked at him. She had always just tolerated him being there because she had to. ''Thank you for last night, you really did me a solid. Let me know if you need help with anything.'' He said, feeling like he owed her a debt now. She had a lot on her plate, and was probably pretty stressed even though she didn't let it on. He knew what being a leader was like, and it wasn't all that fun, he could help her if she let him, but he doubted she would, yet he offered anyway.

As he leant forward facing her, he let his eye wander over her, her hands were healed but he knew they would have been burnt to the bone a few times last night. It would look like he was checking her out, but he was just making sure she was alright. He scratched his head, realising what it looked like he was just doing and looked away uncomfortably. ''So..'' He said trying to distract it, ''The poison Oxen used seemed to be tailored to me. I kept one of the bullets to study it.'' He said, pushing a hand in his pocket and pulling it out. He only then realised he was in the same jeans and no top and frowned, placing the bullet between his thumb and forefinger, examining it.

H O P E . D E A T H - R E I G N
Vampire || Wraith

Hope drank from her glass and felt the blood run down her throat. It wasn't the same as having it from the vein and there was always a disappointment but with things the way they were in Arcane there was no other choice. It was to hard to grab somebody and if they made a noise Ox Corp would be on their asses. Blood bags were the easiest way to feed the numbers in the Manor, if only it wasn't a suicide mission every time they had to do a blood run. It quenched her thirst but it didn't give her the satisfaction she craved. Looking at Ryu's collar, she could still remember how he tasted. The way his blood was hotter than a usual humans and made her feel warm in a similar way alcohol did only far more intense. She had never experienced anything like it and probably never would again.

Taking another mouthful, she tried to stop herself from thinking about Ryu and the way he tasted, the way he looked, anything that made her miss him more then she already did. It was easier when she was giving him the cold shoulder and pretending to hate him. She could never truly hate him, she still loved him as much as she wished she could hate him, as much as she wished there was an emotional switch she could just turn off when it came to Ryu but she wasn't that lucky. She would have to suffer her heart ache everytime she was near him. It was only made worse by his gratitude. She shrugged like it was no big deal, like it hadn't been hell touching him over and over again as his heat melted her skin and burned her over and over again. " It's fine just try to wreck all the furniture.  " she smirked as she imagined he would be bumping into a lot of the furniture. She made a mental note to herself to try and figure out something to help him get around with no depth perception.

But her humor was soon distracted by the way Ryu was looking her up and down with his single eye. Was he checking her out right now? She stared at him for a moment as she wondered what the hell was going on. Wasn't he married? This brief encounter had only confused her more when it came to her relationship with Ryu. She had been doing everything possible to hold herself back, to keep her hands off the man she loved who was now married to another woman but was a girl supposed to do when he was looking at her like that. But then just as Hope thought Ryu might have come to his senses after all, he had looked away. He hadn't changed his mind after all.

He spoke about the bullet and the poison but Hope barely heard it. Her mind was reeling. She was so sick of this hot and cold shit with Ryu. He had been claiming to love her yet he married another woman, a woman her twin was in love with. She didn't know what kinda fucked up lopsided love triangle this was but she didn't want to be apart of it anymore. She couldn't take it. Finishing her glass, she left it by the sink and glanced over at Ryu. " Ok let me know how you get on with that. " she said as she made her out of the room without so much as a goodbye to Ryu.

She had saved his ass yet again and all he was doing was playing games with her heart, well she wasn't going to play anymore. He had made his choice and it wasn't her. She wasn't going to be his sloppy seconds, she was going to be the one that got away and she had to do just that, get away. Otherwise they were going to end up on the kitchen fucking or killing one another and none of those options were acceptable to her anymore. The only thing she could think to do was put as much distance between herself and Ryu and take a cold shower in her room. Anything to take her mind off Ryu and the way he just looked at her and the way that look had made her feel.
