It's Alive ( Tag: Romal )

It had been two and a half weeks since Hope and Knigh had found the almost lifeless corpse of Romal in the back of an ambulance. In that time, he had shown barely signs of life except a finger twitch here or there. But, he was finally beginning to plump up. His cheeks were less hollow and he didn't look quite as grotesque as when they had first found him. All in all, things were looking up for the Dimitru brother.

Hope had been a dedicated nurse ever since she had found him. Every two hours she would come into his room and change his blood bags as required, day and night. She had washed him, brushed his hair and did everything she could think of to keep up his general hygiene and make him comfortable. Even the hell hounds had gotten comfortable with her, no longer appearing as omnious shadows to her but as large dogs that were slowly growing accustomed to her.

As the sun was beginning to set, Hope was curled up in the same chair she had pulled over a couple of weeks ago. It had been her faithful perch as she changed bag after bag of blood. She'd never been more grateful for Matthew and the deal he had managed to secure them. Had Romal appeared in this state before, she wasn't how she would have managed. She probably would have tapped her own veins if need be. Thankfully it hadn't come to that. They had more then enough blood and although it was a new sensation to Hope, to not have to worry about her next meal, she was making the most of it.

Her head slumped against her hand, she had been dozing for the last half an hour. Her feet were under her and although it didn't look like the most comfortable position to be in, she had managed to drift off. Having not had a solid nights sleep in two weeks was beginning to take a toll. She may have been a vampire but she was a young one. she could only go so long without getting some rest. The hell hounds were laying between her and Romal, one having their head laying on her legs. From what Hope could tell the hell hounds never actually slept so it made it easier for her to relax knowing they were there, keeping guard over him and in turn her as they they both slept.

He had seemed to drift in and out at various points during the fortnight since he had been found but other then the first time he had not really been conscious enough to grasp anything in his surroundings.
For the most part his mind had been entirely blank and peaceful, the energy it would have taken for anything else hadn't been to spare. It had allowed him to heal internally better then he would have done otherwise and it had also protected his mind against any mental torture of stimuli his ever present father would have tried to inflict upon him from hell. Once again the darkness had been a sanctuary for Romal.

That sanctuary was about to serve Romal an eviction notice.
Eyes roamed beneath closed lids as he began to claw his way back towards the waking world. His mind swirling around in sudden colour and confusion as he twitched into life his movements sloppy and slow but becoming more purposeful as time went on.

Lights flickering had the hounds up upon their feet, growling in his direction. The growls he could hear loud and clear so he tried to find his way to them, his body reacting to the sudden disorientation with a mid shift, black veins splaying across his flesh as the before colourless ruins burst into their purple once again.
Wings threatened to penetrate the flesh of his back lifting him and forcing him upwards into a sitting position a gasp leaving him as lungs surged into a fast rhythm anxiety driven in their actions as he tried to work out what was going on, black glazed eyes searching the room.
"Ashall, Jeko" he muttered the hounds now at his side, his eyes being drawn towards Hope who had started to move.
"Hope?" Hope was there, he took a second to look around, Hope was there, in a chair, sleeping. He wasn't still in -that- room he was somewhere else. A place all to foreign yet familiar, his stuff littered around.
"What?"

Hope hadn't been resting long when the dogs had begun to stir. Surprisingly it hadn't been Romal that woke her but the growling of the dogs. She had gotten accustomed to them and knew they hardly slept, at least she hadn't seen them sleep the entire time she had been tending to Romal. So she knew if they moved there was a reason for it, as they had been guarding their owner while she nursed him.

Opening her eyes, she thought she heard Romal talking. Sitting up in her seat she looked over at him and smiled. He was finally awake and much to Hope's relief, he knew who his dogs were and he knew her name. All good signs that he might just make a full recovery. She had never felt so relieved. She had been feeling guilty about him being left behind without her knowing. She had no idea he was even missing let alone the fact he was being held and tortured by Ox Corp. She had failed him before and she refused to fail him again.

" Romal? " she said moving from the chair to the bed. His body lit up with symbols and signs. Hope had seen them before but she had no idea what any of them meant and the last thing she wanted was for him to start attacking her or anyone else in the house out of confusion. " Hey hey handsome, it's ok. " she said calmly as she placed a hand on his arm and squeezed reassuringly. She wanted him to know he was safe. " You're in Death Manor, you're safe. " she promised him. She could see he was confused and she didn't blame him.

She left her hand on his arm and she stayed on the bed with him in case he tried to get up and run. She had seen immortals come out of near death states before and it wasn't always pretty. It's why she had been by his side so much. She had wanted him to see a friendly face when he woke up in the hopes it would help ease him back and stop him lashing out at anyone who was unfortunate enough to come across him in this state. " Take a minute. " she told him as she rubbed his arm. She wished she could say she could only imagine what he had been through but that wasn't true. She had felt it all herself when Marcus had been tortured and in turn scarred for life. She had felt it all through their twin connection and she wouldn't wish it on her worst enemy, well maybe she would but she certainly wouldn't wish it on her family.

She moved towards him while he watched her her hand touching his arm causing him to flinch his gaze once again going to the hounds who were calming besides him, he looked Ashall over first, they were best friends the sight of Ash would not betray him he then looked upon Jeko. Lifting his gaze he searched the rest of the room looking for his brothers and his sister surely they would be there? No. The hounds and Hope were his only company. It didn't make senese..where where they?

Gradually his breathing calmed down, Hope talking to him, he didn't really hear her but her tone of voice soothed him some the runes upon his flesh dimming whilst the black veins snaked their way back beneath his flesh and out of sight. Blinking slowly his eyes returned to their natural mismatched colours the black bleeding from them.
His own hand rising the demonic nails upon them receding as he took his more natural form his hand going to settle upon Hope's.

He sat there for a while, his gaze fixating upon the door frame opposite, he was silent his mind trying to process what was happening and that he wasn't under threat.
He didn't know how long it had been, he didn't know what was happening or where everyone was, he didn't even know if he were still actually conscious or whether he was back at the compound his mind finally having broken into hallucinations of safety. For all he knew he was insane.
He wanted despairingly to be relieved but he was afraid to be, because if he was then it turned out to be all a trick of the mind then he would really break. Death should have taken him, at least in that pain he would have understood where he was.

Slowly he looked again to Hope, not her face but at her hand which his rested upon, his grip light but firm enough that she would not slip from his grasp.
"How do I know it's over?"

Romal's state of confusion wasn't passing as quickly as Hope would have liked but as time ticked by he seemed to at least calm. The runes on his skin dimmed, his eyes returned to normal and slowly the Romal she knew and loved began to appear once again. Any fears she had about him lashing out began to fade as he seemed relatively placid. She assumed the reassurance of his pets helped with any fears or anxiety he had as his hand fell on top of hers.

Hope decided not to make any sudden movements or disturb him as he got his bearings. Death Manor wasn't his home and she didn't know what he remembered, if anything. He'd been so close to death that she was just happy he wasn't a vegetable right now. She looked at him, hoping to catch his eye to see what was left of the man inside but it was pointless. He was fixated on the door behind her. She looked behind her, his gaze unnerving her a little as she wondered if someone had entered the room because she had to believe he was staring at something other then just space.

As his eyes went from the door to her hand, his grip tightened. Not enough to hurt but enough to let her know he didn't want her to let go, so she didn't. Instead she stayed perfectly still as Romal's first words struck her. How did she convince someone they weren't crazy if they believed they were crazy? She sighed and thought carefully for a moment. The wrong words now could trigger an attack and that was the last thing Hope wanted. She had fought so hard to save him, she didn't want to have to put him down after all that.

" Romal... " she said softly yet with a tone of authority. " Look at me. " she said as she cupped his chin with her hand and slowly brought his eyes to meet hers. " I found you in the back of an ambulance. You'd been shot multiple times in the chest. I pulled those bullets out of you and stitched you back up again. " she said as her hand fell away from his face and down to the covers around him. Pulling down the cover slightly, she exposed his chest.

" Look.. " she said smirking to herself as she could still make out the H she had stitched into his skin. " H for Hope. " she smiled knowing that the old Romal would have seen the funny side of it. She was starting to wonder if he would ever see the funny side of anything after everything he had been through. Taking his free hand, she took it in hers and she put it to his chest. " Feel that.. that's you Romal and I promise it's over. You're safe. " she smiled as she tried to assure him that he was ok and this wasn't some kind of dream. He had lived the nightmare and now it was time for him to wake up.

Before he had known nothing but pain and devastating hunger, the lights would have been burning his eyes and his head would have felt on the verge of exploding. This was different his body ached to the point where he felt some what flu like but the pain wasn't there in the same way or in the same places. He didn't feel hollow and starved the crippling stomach convulsions he lived with day in day out until they became the norm were not there. Maybe... just maybe this was true, maybe he was back with people he knew.
The hand upon him, Hope's hand wasn't causing him pain, it was an odd feeling after so long. Simple contact, with care, he never thought he would feel another's touch upon him again when it didn't mean suffering.

He was being forced to move now, Hope pulling him out of his thoughts when her hand gripped his chin moving it towards her so he would have to look at her. He resisted at first but the fight didn't have any energy behind it, his eyes moving to look at her as she had requested. As she spoke he sought the truth within them her words ringing true as the images of what happened started to play through his mind his eyes spacing out as he looked seemingly through her for a moment the memory flashing before them. He had welcomed the bullets, longed for them and they had come yet they hadn't done what they should have. A shudder moving him gently with the memory of each one hitting him.

Hope was moving again and startled him from the thoughts her hands moving as she revealed his chest to him. It was covered in gauze and bandaged up, she lifted them to show the network of injuries and stitches beneath them. The H standing out raw and healing against his pale flesh.

She was telling the truth... it hit him like a tonne of bricks. He was out and free. He had no idea how he was alive but he was and Hope really was there. The hounds were there and he was home.
Hope reassuring him made him nod, the first proper communication that he understood what was going on.
Looking around the room slowly again the nod continued. He was home, despite not being in the room before this room was home and it was his. He had made it, not in the way he had meant to but he had. The bite of tears stung his eyes for a moment, was it relief? Was it devastation? He didn't know, he couldn't know, not yet all he knew is that things would continue, things always continued no matter what happened to him.

“H for Hope” he eventually replied, a small rise of his lips pulling them into a smirk. “You branded me... does that make me your property?” he looked back to her now. He wasn't right, it would be a long time before he was, but this was a start, he understood.

Slowly but surely it seemed Romal was beginning to get a grip on reality. He looked around the room with a new kind of clarity as he nodded his head as though convincing himself that it was real. She allowed him time to digest what she had said.He hadn't thanked her for making him move but it had worked so Hope didn't care much for his comfort. She was always  a tough love kind of girl adn she never really cared how she got the results, so long as she got the results she wanted.

She watched for his reaction as he examined the new scar courtesy of Hope's hands. She didn't expect him to make a comment on it, not yet anyway given the trauma his mind and body had gone through. But couldn't help the relief that washed over her face when he smirked. He knew who she was, he wasn't a vegetable or driven bat shit insane because of what he had been through. He was going to be ok. Returning the smirk, the tension in her shoulders now relaxed a little as there was one less thing to worry about.

"  Well  I'd say you probably owe me your life so I think slave would be a more appropriate term rather then property. " she chuckled and squeezed his arm gently. Oddly, she didn't feel like he owed her anything. He was practically family and been involved with the Death family for longer then she'd been alive. He was also a member of her coven now and she wasn't about to leave him behind. She just wish she had known sooner so she could have gotten him out there sooner.

" How are you feeling? " she asked wondering if he wanted more blood or maybe even a stiff drink, he'd certainly earned it. In fact she wouldn't have minded one herself after all this. " I've got more blood if you want it. " she offered thinking he could use every drop he could get his hands on. He was still half the man he used to be and Hope wasn't going to be satisfied until he was as fit and able as he was when he first arrived at Death Manor.

But then she remembered he hadn't walked into the manor alone and now he was awake and considerable better then he had, maybe it time for a family reunion. " Don't go anywhere. " she smirked taking her hand from his as she stood up slowly. " I think I might have something to make you feel at home. " she said rather cryptically as she moved towards the bedroom door. She stepped out into the hallway but didn't dare go any further. She was feeling rather protective of him still and didn't want to leave him in the state he was in.

" Hey Dimitru's! " Hope called out down the hallway rather then going and knocking on individual doors. " Get your asses down here, I've got a surprise for you. " Her voice echoed around and she stepped back into the room leaving the door open. Rather then go back toward Romal, she chose to stay toward the back of the room. She walked over to the corner and leaned against the wall, in view of Romal and those coming in the door. She knew when they stepped in they would want to be with their brother and Hope would probably slip out and let them have their moment but until they were in the room and Romal was comfortable and happy, she'd be hanging around in the shadows.

Asha ~ Caine ~ Nathaniel

From the doorframe to the window sill of Asha’s room in death manor was filled with open books, some technical guides on dealing with demonic forces, others akin to bibles that laid out religious interpretations and prophecies that both scared and impressed the reader. The remainder of them were journals, tattered and torn, well used and penned with ink from cover to cover. She had read each and every one more than three times over, some part curiosity, the remainder in desperation and despair. In the middle of the floor Asha sat quietly, fingernails lightly scraping over the page in the book she was reading, flicking over the sheet to reveal the next. It was a monotonous task but still she had kept at it, trying to find a subtle clue in the thousands of pages that might just give her the key to solving the problems her family were facing, to bring them back together. So far every move the siblings had made only seemed to make things more difficult and with Romal having been held by Ox Corp, Asha had little else to do as of late than stalk the crap out of the soldiers at the headquarters and make futile attempts with her brothers to rescue him. She had bumped heads with several people over the situation, only there had been times where her remaining brothers made things a bit more bearable even if it was the small irritating things Nathaniel did. Like now as he tossed a small pea sized scrap of paper at her, the soft hit of paper against her hair prompting her to sigh and slap the covers of the book shut as he looked up to him.

“I’ve been trying to concentrate and all you’ve done is throw that shit at me for the last HOUR!” she growled at him as Nathaniel hefted a chuckle
“I dunno Ash, look around. How much have you read? And not a clue. Paper fights are at least a little more exciting than reading yourself to death.” Nate murmured as she sighed and gave him a sideways glance.
“really? There is a reason for this.” she mumbled, soon interrupted by the echoing bellow of Hope. She had made an effort to avoid her in the last few weeks since the coven dinner, not interested in a repeat performance in regards to either Hope or Kenshu. Despite Nate and Caine being around she had felt more and more alone on her quest, defiant against anyone who could tell her that it was a hopeless game.

“Bit unusual for us to be summoned.” Nathaniel murmured as he found his attention solely on why Hope was calling the siblings, leaving Ash on the floor as he immediately headed off. It would be food he had hoped, or at least something mildly more interesting than the shitty tasks his sister had insisted upon giving both himself and Caine. As he exited Asha’s room and trudged down the hall he noticed Caine emerge from his own room, looking just as shithouse as he had the day before. Caine said nothing as he strode out from his room at the call of Hope, ignoring when Nate prodded roughly at his shoulder. The two of them began to descend the stairs, the rushed footsteps of Asha behind them as the Dimitru’s headed in the direction of Hope.
As they closed in on the room Caine frowned at Hope’s supposed disappearance, the first to enter the room where he could hear her walking across to the other side.

“What do you…” Caine began as Nate entered in behind him, closely followed by Asha at a dash. Caine however stopping mid-sentence as he sighted Romal. Looking back up at Hope in disbelief he narrowed his eyes.
“Wait…when?” he murmured as Nate announced from behind him
“And bloody how!” he asked as he walked over to where Romal laid, a broad smile on his face despite the look of his brother. It was Asha who oddly didn’t answer though mainly in part due to the fact that she had frozen at the sight of Romal, tears welling her eyes as she realised the fact that Romal was safe and in the room with them.

“Well shit, and here we were trying to spring you out of Ox Corp and your lazy ass is laying about here.” Nathaniel told him.

Re: It's Alive ( Tag: Romal )

Post by Romal Dimitru on Thu 08 Mar 2018, 15:33

The H had gone a long way to breaking any panic he had still been feeling, eventually he would probably find it hilarious especially if it left a scar upon his flesh, he idly wondered if Lita would see the funny side but in reality he had no idea where she was or if he would ever see her again so he let the thought drift off into the darkness of his mind.
He was watching Hope, though at time he seemed to be looking through her, this whole thing was a lot to take in and adjust to he had been a prisoner and a tortured one for so long now his mind wasn't sure how to process or cope with the prospect of freedom or independence and in a way that was sort of terrifying. In the jail he knew pain was coming and that was it, outside was the unknown and it had been a long time since he had to face anything unknown.

He nodded when she asked if he wanted more blood. His appetite wasn't there but he knew he probably was in dire need of some, he would not have fed now for months on end.
She moved away from him, the sounds of her touching things and walking loud to him as his eyes drifted after her.
She asked him how he was feeling he realised that he hadn't answered her but honestly he wasn't really sure how he felt, he felt weak and aching but he wasn't sure what shape his mind was in yet, he couldn't seem to focus on any particular emotion other then an odd numb calm now the panic had faded. “Uh, I dunno. OK I guess” it was the most pathetically adolescent type answer he had ever given yet at that moment it was the best he could come up with.

He looked down to her hand as it rested upon him but then she got up again making a joke about him climbing out of bed, he wondered if he could but as he looked down upon himself once more he figured he probably wouldn't be able to, not yet anyway. He had never been so thin in his life he had to reassure himself the body actually did belong to him, his eyes following the runes upon his flesh in a way of convincing himself he was actually still there and not some demented ghost. Hope's shout made him flinch but dragged him out of his pattern of thought once again returning him to the numbing calm.

He hadn't heard what she called but as soon as Hope came back into the room she didn't move towards him and then foot steps sounded in the hallway approaching them, his gaze moving to the door way as the familiar image of his siblings filled the door way then filtered in one by one, all minus Vaughan who Romal suddenly remembered was his now horrifically demonic arch nemesis, it made his stomach plunge but he steadied as his brothers began speaking to him, both seeming happy to see him again, Asha hanging back for the time being.

Their smiled prompted him to smile in return and for a few minutes he was given the freedom emotionally to feel happiness. It was overwhelming to see them again, he had been so very sure he would never see a single one of them again let alone the three of them.
Holding a hand out he clasped Caine's hand in his own, his other taking Nathaniel by the arm, he shook them gently the effort obvious but he didn't care.
His eyes darting to Asha as he gave his youngest sibling a smile.
“You know me, I like to keep you all on your toes”

Hope remained silent as she heard the sound of footsteps approach the room. She smiled at Romal trying to reassure him in case he was feeling overwhelmed by everything. Maybe it was to soon to be doing the family reunion thing but she hoped that by bringing them in it would help reinforce the fact that this wasn't some kind of vivid hallucination and he was in fact safe and sound.

As the first of the brothers came toward her, he was already mid asking her what was going on when she smirked and nodded toward the other side of the room as she folded her arms and sighed. She watched their faces as they saw their brother on the bed. It was rather amusing to watch as they went from confusion to disbelief to joy. Hope knew they had been working hard to figure out how to save their brother and honestly Hope hadn't been as concerned as she could have been.

Between the merger of the covens, the possibility of another Eradication and then there was the issue of Ajax losing his god damn mind, she was already stretched to her limits and didn't have the will nor the emotional capability to worry herself about anyone else. But finding Romal in the condition she had, she had felt a sort of guilt for having not put more effort into it but what was she supposed to do. Better vampires then she had taken on Ox Corp and lost and with Vaughn in the mix, they didn't stand a chance. She was just trying to get the vampires that were now under her charge out of here in one piece and unlike Death family members before her, she knew how to pick her battles.

Initially, of course they were curious as to how he had gotten there and Hope didn't really want to explain how she had found him emaciated, shot and basically a corpse in the back of an Ox Corp ambulance in front of Romal. She'd figured he'd been traumatized enough. " Just call me your fairy fucking godmother. " she smirked as she stayed toward the back letting his family gather around him. Asha, however seemed to keep her distance while her brothers took his hands.

Apart of her wanted to go over and give Ash a hug as she could see the tears in her eyes but she decided against it. Since they're argument they hadn't been close and Hope didn't know where she stood with her and rather then find out she chose to just ignore her problems. She already had enough without dealing with girl drama on top of everything else. She tried not to let her disappointment show as she didn't want to make this moment all about her for a change. This was about Romal and his family. Unfortunately they were still down a member and Hope didn't much like the odds of him coming back anytime soon or so she hoped.

Asha ~ Caine ~ Nathaniel

The touch of Romal’s hand over his own prompted Caine to crouch beside the bed, gently squeezing Romal’s hand as he watched Romal smile. He returned the smile, a small glimpse of the relief he felt to have at least one of his loved ones back. Caine was far from the personality he had been when he had met up with his brothers and it appeared that on many levels they were all changed. Still, even as Romal looked battered and a shadow of the figure he had been since they last saw each other, his humour and tone had not changed a bit.

“yeah right, looks like you were off having a rave without us.” Nathaniel replied to Romal in the most idiotic of ways. Always the party animal he had stood on the opposite side of the bed, his free hand clasping over his brothers that laid shakingly on his arm.
Though instead of the comforting hold Caine had given romal, Nathaniel twiddled their thumbs about as though they were wrestling. It was a few actions short of a brotherly hi five and punch in the arm but enough to show that Nathaniel was welcoming his brother home.

Of course the two of them had taken lead into the room where Asha had held back, not because she didn’t want to be in the room but because she was overwhelmed. It was definitely him, and he was alive and in one piece. Caine, Nathaniel and Asha had literally scaled the walls of the Oxen Corp facility on several occasions trying to find some way in to rescue Romal but never had they successfully managed to do so. Yet here he was infront of their eyes, safe and long away from the grasp of Oxen corp. As the brothers spoke between each other she finally moved, her chest heaving as tears began to uncontrollably roll from her eyes. As she reached the side of the bed, Caine moved out of the way as Asha leaned over, her arms gently curling over Romal as she leaned her head next to his in an effort not to hurt him as she embraced him.

“Steady on Ash, the guy’s got sore bits all over the place,” Nate announced as Asha simly ignored him. Through sobs she tried to speak as her voice cracked and lowered to whispers.

“I thought we had lost you..” she managed as she hung on, afraid that perhaps if she let her brother go, he would simply vanish.

“Way to go fairy godmother.” Caine murmured as he looked up to view Hope on the other side of the room. He nodded before continuing.
“We Dimitru’s owe you for this one.”
